George Clooney and Stacy Keibler: Nearly Over?

At last check, despite reports of their demise, George Clooney and Stacy Keibler were still together. But now…? Sources tell The New York Daily News that Clooney and Keibler are ” barely talking ” at the moment and “she is worried that he may break up with her any day now.” If that takes place, at least the former WWE Diva can take comfort in the fact that she won’t be the first beauty dumped by Clooney. Or the 31st, for that matter. Keibler attended New York City Fashion Week last month on her own and sources tell the newspaper they are spending less and less time together. “George is being really distant and pulling away from her,” alleges this mole. “She wakes up every morning and doesn’t know what’s going to happen.” But at least she has a steady gig to fall back on: Keibler is the new host of Supermarket Superstars .

Ben Affleck Says Republicans ‘Had A Chance’ But Gives Low-Key Obama Support

Not afraid to show off his political side, Ben Affleck is giving his take on the current U.S. Presidential campaign. Hitting the road promoting his political thriller Argo , the director and star of the film compared Republican nominee to past hopefuls who did not make it to the White House. A past ardent supporter of liberal causes and a full-fledged Obama fan four years ago, Affleck only offered tepid support for the incumbent. “I think Republicans really had a chance to win,” Affleck told A.P. during an interview about Argo . And they kind of ended up with like a sort of Mike Dukakis, Al Gore, Bob Dole type – who just couldn’t get people to see him as a real person somehow. Romney just had such trouble coming off as just like the kind of person you see at the grocery store. And I truly believe that has cost him the election.” Affleck went on to add that it looks “quite unlikely” that the Republican hopeful will unseat Obama, saying “negative momentum” can at some point cause a downward spiral for a campaign. “You start making mistakes and then all your advisers tell you, ‘You’ve got to raise your arms more!’ ‘You’ve got to talk deeper.’ So people just get into becoming robotic.” Still, if Affleck shares the same enthusiasm for Obama as in the first go-around, he is clearly holding back, saying that with hindsight his opinions have changed. “”I voted for Obama last time although he got to be all things to all people then,” Affleck said. ”And now he’s got a record which makes it really different … I obviously have more complicated feelings.” Affleck has often thrown his hat in the political sphere, doing lobbying in Washington and traveling abroad for various causes. He’s also said he wouldn’t rule out a future run for an elected office in the future. And his latest film, which debuted last month at the Toronto International Film Festival has already prompted talk of possibly multiple Oscar nominations. The film recalls an international crisis that many attribute for the failed re-election bid of Jimmy Carter in 1980, ushering in the Reagan era. Directed and starring Affleck, along with Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin and John Goodman, Argo is set as militants take over the U.S. embassy in Tehran in the aftermath of the 1979 Iranian Revolution. While 52 Americans are held, six others escape and hide in the Canadian ambassador’s residence. The film recalls a plan hatched by the C.I.A. and specialist Tony Mendez (played by Affleck) to help the six to escape Iran. [ Source: Associated Press ]

For Your Information: Romney ‘Health Plan’ Would Leave 72 Mil Uninsured!

How much more can this dude openly admit his plans to take away our rights to health care? According to Politico… Mitt Romney’s health care plan wouldn’t just insure fewer people than “Obamacare” — it would make the uninsured problem worse than it would have been if the law had never passed, according to a comparison of the two plans by a research group with a history of pro-“Obamacare” studies. The analysis by the Commonwealth Fund, a New York-based health care research foundation, found that under Romney’s health care plan, the uninsured population would soar to 72 million by 2022 — 12 million higher than if nothing had been done at all. By contrast, if President Barack Obama’s health care law is fully implemented — including complete state participation in the now voluntary Medicaid expansion — the number of uninsured people would drop from 47.9 million in 2011 to about 27.1 million people in 2022, the report estimated. The number of insured Americans would rise in every age group under the Affordable Care Act and fall in every group under Romney’s plan, Sara Collins, vice president for Commonwealth’s affordable health insurance program, told reporters in a conference call Monday. The report says most of the difference is due to Romney’s plans for Medicaid, which he would turn into block grants, and the expansion of Medicaid that’s planned under the ACA. The gap between those two proposals accounts for about 80 percent of the difference in their impact on the uninsured, according to the analysis. The Romney campaign said the “flawed report” misstates Romney’s proposals and depicts “a fantasy world where Obamacare has been a success.” “Under ObamaCare, Americans have seen their insurance premiums increase, small businesses are facing massive tax increases, and seniors will have reduced access to Medicare services,” Ryan Williams, a Romney spokesman, wrote in an email to POLITICO. “The American people did not want this law, our country cannot afford this law, and when Mitt Romney becomes president he will repeal it and replace it with common-sense, patient-centered reforms that strengthen our health care system.” With all that’s at stake, we hope the extra 12 million people estimated to lose out on Robney’s health care “plan” doesn’t make it past his little soapbox he’s been preaching from. Gary Johnson: Will Libertarian Influence 2012 Presidential Election?

When the 2012 presidential debates kick off Wednesday, Gary Johnson will not be there. The often overlooked libertarian may still have an impact on the election, however. According to a new poll by Reason , President Barack Obama leads challenger Mitt Romney, but the Libertarian Party’s Johnson garners a statistically significant 6 percent. Johnson pulls votes from both major-party candidates, the survey found. A former two-term governor of New Mexico and before that a self-made construction businessman, Johnson has always been known for his low-tax views. He first sought the presidency via the Republican nomination last year, but after being excluded from those debates, launched his third-party run in 2012. While facing overwhelming odds against Democratic incumbent Obama and Republican nominee Romney, Johnson could still be a factor in next month’s election. Siphoning enough votes from one candidate could benefit the other in a number of closely-contested states, and many of his views are in line with the mainstream . Gary Johnson a Factor in 2012? About 61 percent of poll respondents said that wealth disparities are an acceptable part of the American economic system and not something the government can fix. “One of the reasons they may believe that,” explains Reason’s Emily Ekins, “is that 59 percent think that individuals have an equal opportunity to succeed in this country.” Also, 45 percent of Americans want the federal government to pass fewer laws, compared with around one-third who think it should be more active. “However,” she notes, “there is one law that voters overwhelmingly would like to see passed – and that’s a law to audit the Federal Reserve.” Somewhere, Ron Paul is smiling. And/or seething that he won’t be on that stage either.

Everyone Is Connected: The Wachowskis And Michelle Obama

After Cloud Atlas ‘s Fantastic Fest debut I caught up with Lana Wachowski at the Alamo Drafthouse’s Highball, where she and Andy, AKA Wachowski Starship , were beaming and greeting festgoers. (I’m told they were given a tour of the Highball’s private karaoke rooms but didn’t partake in Austin’s favored pastime.) Conversation landed on Michelle Obama, of course (the two best sets of arms in the biz? Michelle Obama and Lana Wachowski), and that’s when Lana dropped a revelation in true Cloud Atlas style: “She went to our high school!” True enough — it happens Chicago’s Whitney M. Young High School turned out the First Lady in ’81, Lana in ’83, and Andy in ’86. Everything is connected, indeed. [ More from Fantastic Fest… ]

That’s Racist–‘Offensive’ Obama Pics Posted Up On Virginia GOP County Committee Facebook Page

SMH… some shady members of the Mecklenburg County, VA Republican Party aren’t apologizing for photos they posted on their Facebook page depicting President Barack Obama as a caveman and a “thug”. God Bless Freedom of Speech right?? According to The Washington Post: R. Wallace “Wally” Hudson, chairman of the Mecklenburg County Republican Committee, had vowed on Tuesday to ignore calls from the Republican Party of Virginia to take down doctored photos portraying Obama as a witch doctor, caveman and thug. He defended the images as harmless spoofs — and as a matter of free speech. State party Chairman Pat Mullins had strongly condemned the photos, saying that posting them on the unit’s Web site was “unacceptable behavior from any local unit associated with our party.” Wally’s defense… “We know our regular readers, who are good conservatives, they’re gonna get a kick out of it,” said Hudson, 55, a retired airline flight crew member who became chairman in May. “The rest of them, if they don’t want to see it, they don’t have to look at it. We don’t consider any of it racist. . . . I’m not ashamed of it. I mean, good God, you should have seen some of the images they did of George [W.] Bush. It’s freedom of speech…”If that group is that sensitive, I’m sorry, they’re just not human. It’s not American. If they’ve got a problem with it, we’re not going to change what we do.” As of today, the photos have been removed and the site was “temporarily unavailable”. We’re all for freedom of speech over here but this definitely had racist undertones. Do you think they should have been forced to remove the photos? Images via facebook

Madonna Loves That "Black Muslim in the White House"

Madonna certainly keeps things lively. At her concert in D.C. this week, she discussed how amazing it is that we have a “black Muslim in the White House” who’s for gay rights. This is a supporter of the President who rocks an Obama tattoo . Madonna Calls Obama a Muslim It’s possible, even likely, that Madonna was mocking those who actually think Barack Obama is a Muslim born in Kenya. Then again, birthers aren’t known to appreciate irony. Better (or worse) yet? Madonna promised to get nude if Obama wins in November! Somewhere, Mitt Romney is getting ready to send out a fundraising appeal with this clip. (To the 53 percent.)
