New York Attorney General Investigating Suspicious Death Of Jailed Woman Much like #SandraBland , Raynette Turner’s family is desperately seeking answers to how an arrest over a petty crime ended with the loss of her life. Via Huff Po reports : New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced Monday that his office will launch a formal investigation into the death of Raynette Turner, the mother of eight who died in a Mount Vernon, New York, jail cell while in police custody last week. “My office’s Special Investigations and Prosecutions Unit will investigate the death of Raynette Turner, consistent with Executive Order No. 147 and a conforming order to be issued by the Governor at my request,” Schneiderman said in a statement. It’s the first such investigation since Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) last month issued an executive order appointing Schneiderman as special prosecutor in all cases where an unarmed civilian dies at the hands of police. Turner, 42, was arrested on Saturday, July 25 after allegedly shoplifting some crab legs from a grocery store. With no judges working on Sundays to arraign her in court on the misdemeanor charge, police officers opted to keep Turner in custody through the weekend. On Sunday night, the Mount Vernon Police Department told The Journal News, Turner said she was feeling ill and was taken to a hospital. Turner, who had a history of high blood pressure, was treated at the hospital and released. At the courthouse Monday, Turner reportedly vomited while awaiting her arraignment in an upstairs holding area. She was then taken back to a cell downstairs. Although courthouse officials are supposed to check on the holding cells every 15 minutes, The Journal News reported, no one saw Turner for another hour, when she was found dead in the cell around 2 p.m. A spokesman for the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office told The Huffington Post that Turner’s initial autopsy was inconclusive. The medical examiner’s office is awaiting results from toxicology tests. Turner was one of five black women to have died in jail during a two-week span in July. Among them was Sandra Bland, whose death in a Waller County, Texas, jail cell drew national attention and touched off demonstrations by the Black Lives Matter movement in Texas and across the country. As special prosecutor, Schneiderman’s investigation will determine whether there should be any criminal charges in Turner’s death. We hope that this investigation is not just a ruse and that they are able to find some real answers into what happened to Raynette. The rapper was shut down 10 minutes into his set and forced to flee the scene after telling eager fans to disregard security and rush the stage. Via MTVnews : Any fans hoping to see Travis Scott onstage at Lollapalooza on Saturday (August 1) were out of luck if they showed up late, because the show ended up getting shut down early. The rapper was arrested, according to ABC7 in Chicago, after telling fans to rush past security and barricades and onto the stage. A video posted on Twitter captures some of the apparent chaos, which resulted in the set being shut down after only five minutes. The 23-year-old can be heard chanting, “We want rage.” And this picture gives a glimpse of the aftermath, which looks to have included dozens of fans joining Travis onstage. “The performer played one song and then began telling fans to come over the barricades,” the Office of Emergency Management said in a statement, as reported by ABC. “Due to the security’s quick response, the situation was remedied immediately and no fans were injured. Man Breaks Into House But Falls Asleep On Couch Welcome to Florida … Via Bradenton : A South Florida family says they came home to chicken bones and empty beer bottles on their kitchen floor and an unknown man sleeping on their couch. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies found 22-year-old Jacob Miller still asleep when they responded to the Lake Worth home Monday. After taking Miller into custody, the deputies reported finding numerous items of jewelry on the man that belonged to the family. The Palm Beach Post ( http://goo.gl/M0vixi ) reports that Miller told deputies he went into the home because he needed a place to stay but refused to answer any other questions. Miller was charged with burglary and theft. Records also showed an open warrant in Texas for burglary. You can’t be serious!!!

Kansas City Adams Mark Worker Files Complaint After Supervisor “Lynched” Slave Doll In Entrance To Her Office This is just crazy the isht people think they can get away with these days… According to KSHB Kansas City reports : Jaysyn Craddock is a front desk assistant at the Adam’s Mark Hotel. He explained to 41 Action News that he was working on July 21, when his supervisor hung the black doll from the noose and asked him to come and look at it. “So she looked at me and said, ‘Look what I hung up,’ in a giggling way and she asked me, ‘Does this offend you?’ She didn’t say ‘I’m sorry,’ she said ‘Does this offend you?’ And I didn’t say anything. I was just so upset that I went back to helping people and she left it up until the end of the night,” Craddock said. Later, Craddock and some co-workers complained to the front desk manager. “It’s embarrassing. It’s humiliating. Like I felt like that no actions were going to be taken, because our front desk manager spoke to all of us individually and she asked us if we wanted to speak to the person who hung up the doll and we all said yes. She said something to us individually; but she said after you speak with my supervisor, I don’t want to hear anything about it,” Craddock added. Adams Mark Hotel later fired the supervisor. A statement from the hotel said the supervisor “hung a slave doll using a plastic bag as a noose and displayed the doll in an employee common area.” A photo of the doll has been circulating on social media sites since July 22, according to the attorney. Craddock’s attorneys have filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. If the EEOC gives them the green light, Craddock’s attorneys will be able to sue the Adam’s Mark Hotel for harassment. The hotel has since released the following statement: “This isolated incident is completely inconsistent with the values and culture of the Adam’s Mark Hotel Kansas City. This disturbing occurrence took place late Tuesday evening, July 21st. When brought to the attention of management the following day, an investigation was initiated. Immediately following the investigation, the employee was terminated, Friday, July 24th, prior to the start of their next shift. The Adam’s Mark Kansas City is committed to maintaining a positive working environment free of unlawful harassment.” Do you think he should sue the hotel? The scandal surrounding Cecil the Lion is not going away any time soon. As a quick refresher: a Minnesota dentist named Dr. Walter Palmer has admitted to paying $50,000 in order to hunt down a lion in Africa earlier this month. Turns out, the lion was internationally-known and protected and it was against the law to kill him. Palmer has since come under major fire, with folks protesting outside his office in Minnesota and Jimmy Kimmel even breaking down while calling Palmer some very bad names. In a letter to patient (while his practice remains closed for the foreseeable future), Palmer said he believed his hunt was 100% legal and he “had no idea that the lion I took was a known, local favorite, was collared and part of a study until the end of the hunt.” He adds: “Again, I deeply regret that my pursuit of an activity I love and practice responsibly and legally resulted in the taking of this lion. That was never my intention.” As you might expect, though, this explanation does not sit well with PETA, which has released a statement of its own to E! News. It reads: “Hunting is a coward’s pastime. If, as has been reported, this dentist and his guides lured Cecil out of the park with food so as to shoot him on private property, because shooting him in the park would have been illegal, he needs to be extradited, charged, and, preferably, hanged.” PETA President Ingrid Newkirk concludes: To get a thrill at the cost of a life, this man gunned down a beloved lion, Cecil with a high-powered weapon. All wild animals are beloved by their own mates and infants, but to hunters like this overblown, over-privileged little man, who lack empathy, understanding, and respect for living creatures, they are merely targets to kill, decapitate, and hang up on a wall as a trophy. The photograph of this dentist, smiling over the corpse of another animal, who, like Cecil, wanted only to be left in peace, will disgust every caring soul in the world. So sad… Bronx Principal Jeanene Worrell-Breeden Commits Suicide A principal who was named in her elementary school’s cheating scandal jumped in front of a moving train and ended her life allegedly over the allegations. The New York Post reports: The principal of an innovative West Harlem public school killed herself the day after her students took the state Common Core exams — which were later tossed out because she cheated, The Post has learned. Jeanene Worrell-Breeden, 49, of Teachers College Community School, jumped in front of a B train in the 135th Street station on St. Nicholas Avenue on April 17, police said. She was pulled out from under the train and taken to Harlem Hospital, where she died eight days later. The city Medical Examiner’s Office ruled it a suicide. The leap came at 9:20 a.m., less than 24 hours after her 47 third-graders wrapped up three days sweating over the high-stakes English exam — the first ever given at the fledgling school. It was also the same day a whistleblower reported the cheating to DOE officials. Parents were shocked and saddened to learn Worrell-Breeden died but were given no details at the time. It was rumored she was killed in a car crash. Parents were in for another shock in June. Superintendent Gale Reeves told them in a meeting that all the third-grade English exams had been “red-flagged” and “invalidated.” In a June 22 letter to families, Reeves wrote, “The integrity of the assessment was compromised due to actions outside your child’s control.” Parents grew frustrated. On Friday, the DOE blamed the dead principal. “Principal Worrell-Breeden was the subject of allegations of testing improprieties,” spokeswoman Devora Kaye said. “An investigation substantiated these allegations, and we closed the investigation following her tragic passing.” Wow!
