Brittany Dawn Killgore Case: Blood Found in Murder Suspect’s Car

Blood matching that of missing Marine wife Brittany Dawn Killgore has been found in the car of the chief suspect in her murder, according to new reports. Killgore was found dead near a lake in Riverside County. Staff Sgt. Louis Ray Perez and Jessica Lynn Lopez were arrested and charged with murder. Killgore was supposed to be going out for the evening with a Marine Corps sergeant and his girlfriend until the night of April 13 took a frightening turn. “She sent a text to a female friend of hers indicating that she was in distress,” San Diego Deputy District Attorney Patrick Espinoza said Thursday in court. “She was missing from that point on.” The first details about the investigation came out at Perez’s arraignment in Vista, Calif., where the prosecutor revealed the aforementioned text message. More significantly, officials also stated that police found Killgore’s blood in Perez’s car as well as a weapon. Authorities have not revealed a possible motive. Perez’s attorney told the judge that Lopez, who had been found with self-inflicted cuts in a motel room, left a suicide note admitting to Killgore’s murder. Both Lopez, 25, and Perez, 45, have pleaded not guilty to all charges. Killgore, the estranged wife of another U.S. Marine, was only 22 years old.

Photo of Falling Bear on College Campus Defies Description

A bear can be seen falling from a tree in a truly memorable image after being tranquilized by police in Boulder, Co., this week. Fortunately, he’s doing fine. The young bear, estimated to weigh between 150-200 pounds, had somehow wandered onto the University of Colorado campus and climbed into a tree. While it’s never funny that an animal has to be tranquilized, all ended well. He landed safely on a mattress and was released into the wild when he woke up: “[The bear] was tranquilized by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Department and it fell onto some mats that the Rec Center provided,” CU Police said. “It was placed in a cage, relocated at a higher elevation and released.” Before it was tranquilized and immortalized in this photo, the bear spent about two hours in a tree near the campus dorms, terrifying students. On Tuesday, another family of black bears made the news, literally, after wandering onto the set and interrupting a news report in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The University of Colorado was also in the news for another viral story this week, after this tipsy member of the student body hilariously posed with President Obama .

Lane Garrison Charged With Domestic Violence

Actor Lane Garrison has been charged with misdemeanor domestic violence following his alleged attack on ex-girlfriend Ashley Mattingly last week. While it appeared Lane would be cleared as recently as mid-week, the L.A. County District Attorney filed the charges against him late Thursday. Based on surveillance video which appears to show Lane slapping Ashley Mattingly in the face last Saturday, the D.A. felt he had a case to make. Lane Garrison Slaps Ashley Mattingly Garrison insists he did not hit his ex, and says the tape helps his case. Lane’s lawyer says he was merely reaching for his phone at her Beverly Hills apartment and it was not a slap, but evidently the D.A. begs to differ . Garrison is being held without bail because he’s on a parole hold. He was convicted of vehicular DUI manslaughter back in 2007 and went to prison. If convicted of domestic violence, he faces up to a year in jail, which is very unlikely, however, he could do even more time if his parole is violated. That prospect is much more likely. George Zimmerman Raises $200K For Legal Defense

George Zimmerman, the former neighborhood watch volunteer accused of murdering Trayvon Martin, has raised at least $200,000 online to fund his defense. Donors contributed “just over $200,000” on a website to help pay for the defense of Zimmerman, who was released on bail earlier this week, his lawyer said. Mark O’Mara added that the site, therealgeorgezimmerman (dot) com, has since been shut down for unknown reasons and Zimmerman remains in hiding. Zimmerman is living in an undisclosed location as he awaits trial on charges of second-degree murder in the February shooting death of Trayvon Martin. The killing, which took place as Martin walked unarmed through a gated community in the central Florida town of Sanford, has gained national attention. Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty and says he killed Martin in self defense. In a stunning move, he apologized to Martin’s family at his bail hearing. The sensational case has prompted civil rights protests and a national debate over guns, self-defense laws, racial profiling and media bias in America. O’Mara told CNN that he would inform the judge in the case of the funds he has raised on Friday. No date has been set for his official arraignment.
