Jackson Rathbone, Keri Hilson, Johnny Weir Open Up On ‘When I Was 17’

‘Twilight’ star recalls a particularly creative prank from his high school days. By MTV News staff Jackson Rathbone on “When I Was 17” Photo: MTV News Jackson Rathbone was a notorious prankster. Keri Hilson was madly, blindly in love. Johnny Weir was a world-traveling ice-skating champion one day and a ridiculed high school outcast the next. Welcome to another episode of MTV’s “When I Was 17,” where you learn the inside scoop about your favorite celebs before they were celebs — those random, embarrassing, WTF memories that continue to haunt them even though they’ve become household names. When it comes to Rathbone’s teenage recollections , the emphasis is most definitely on W…T…F. He and his friends loved to pull pranks, and after their one pal took their prize dorm-room furnishing — a plastic goose — Rathbone took matters into his own hands. “To get him back, we asked the girl that he liked to write him a note saying to meet him at the beach at a certain time,” the “Twilight” franchise star revealed. “He goes down to the beach. We all jump out of the bushes, hogtie him, rip his shirt off, write ‘goose thief’ on his chest and make him walk to the dorm in his boxers, hands tied behind his back for all the world to see what a goose thief gets.” Weir often found himself the victim of ill-treatment from his high school classmates. “I was the awkward, skinny, smart, driven kid,” Weir said. “I was an honor-roll student. I spoke fluent French. I was a bit antisocial. I can’t say that I had a really booming social life. “I was traveling a lot while I was still attending public high school,” added the Olympian and former World Junior Figure Skating champion. “So I’d get back from all these beautiful, worldly experiences, and then I’d just be the kid that got made fun of because I was a lot smaller than everyone else.” And when Hilson was 17, well, she ended up suffering through her first broken heart. “My crew, we were like the good bad girls,” the “Knock You Down” singer explained. “We weren’t promiscuous. I had a boyfriend, but I wore a promise ring and I was still a virgin. I graduated with my V card — that’s what we used to call it. My then-boyfriend, I really, really liked him.” But then Hilson’s friend discovered that her boyfriend was cheating. “I really couldn’t believe it,” Hilson said. “I thought he really liked me. And he might have. But I wasn’t doing certain things, and maybe this girl was. I was heartbroken, maybe until I met the next one!” “When I Was 17” airs Saturdays at 11 a.m. on MTV. ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Recap: Nicole Scherzinger, Evan Lysacek Keep Shining

Pussycat Doll and the Olympian are still miles ahead of other two stars in the semifinal round. By Kelley L. Carter Derek Hough and Nicole Scherzinger on “Dancing with the Stars” Photo: ABC For Monday night’s semifinals of “Dancing With the Stars,” the remaining couples had to compete in two rounds — ballroom and Latin — to impress judges. The performances resulted in a dead heat for first place between Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and Olympian Evan Lysacek, who were both just one point shy of a total perfect score. The first couple to hit the floors was ESPN reporter Erin Andrews and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Judge Len Goodman was impressed with their Viennese waltz. He told the duo that the fight for the finals is in effect. Bruno Tonioli commented on Andrews’ improvement. Tonioli caused a bit of confusion when he accidentally held up a 10 paddle — he meant to give them a 9 — and Chmerkovskiy mock fainted. For their second round, they danced the paso doble, and the judges weren’t too keen on Andrews’ solo at the beginning. Score: 56/60 Favorite Scherzinger and partner Derek Hough took the stage next, performing a rather flawless Argentine tango. Tonioli said the Pussycat Doll was like “a divine enchantress,” and Carrie Ann Inaba told the pop singer “what you are doing is incredible.” The duo scored a perfect 30/30 for their tango, and when they came back for their cha cha to Prince’s hit “Kiss,” they barely missed a beat. Goodman said without question, Scherzinger deserved to be in the finals. Score: 59/60 Cincinnati Bengals player Chad Ochocinco and partner Cheryl Burke chose the waltz for the ballroom round. Inaba told Ochocinco that he nailed the dance. Goodman seemed equally impressed, noting that the football star is the only celeb in the semifinals without any dance experience. They took on the samba for dance number two, a dance that judges said was the toughest of the night. Tonioli joked that after seeing Ochocinco dance with his shirt open, he “will never take my clothes off again!” Score: 52/60 Lysacek and his partner Anna Trebunskaya picked the foxtrot, trying to add the emotion the skater hadn’t yet expressed in dance. Tonioli was impressed, saying that he wasn’t aware that Lysacek had that kind of vitality in him. Inaba said that he was engaged the entire time, something that had been missing from his pristine dance moves. For their second time out, the couple did a paso doble that Tonioli called strong, yet artistic. Dance number two earned a perfect score, for a 59/60 total.
