Rebel Wilson Pisses Off Black People With Her Stupid Police Strippers Joke You didn’t have to look far to find examples of racism and white privilege all over the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards but one of the most blasted moments had to be when Rebel Wilson came to the stage and mocked the “Black Lives Matter” movement by stating her problem isn’t with police — but Police strippers. The outcry from Twitter was real… . @RebelWilson / @MTV , police violence isn't a joke, as the deaths of #TamirRice , #RekiaBoyd , #FreddieGray , #MikeBrown , & #MyaHall remind us. — deray mckesson (@deray) August 31, 2015 We have to say we agree. We haven’t seen an apology from Wilson or MTV yet though. Jury Unable To Reach Verdict In Manslaughter Case Against North Carolina Cop Randall Kerrick This case is so sad it looks like there’s not going to be a verdict anytime soon. Via MSNBC reports : A judge in North Carolina on Friday declared a mistrial in a police officer’s 2013 killing of unarmed former college football player Jonathan Ferrell. That means that the voluntary manslaughter charge against Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer Randall “Wes” Kerrick remains open. Kerrick, 29, shot Ferrell, 24, in a confrontation following a traffic accident. The jury of eight women and four men deliberated over four days, taking several votes but never coming close to a unanimous decision on Kerrick’s fate. In its last vote on Friday afternoon, the jury was split 8-4. At around 4:15 p.m. ET. the jury foreman told Judge Richard C. Ervin that the panel was deadlocked. Ervin asked if it would help if they broke for the weekend and returned on Monday, but the jury, in a show of hands, indicated it could go no further. His fate still rests with prosecutors, who must decide whether to seek another trial. The shooting unfolded on Sept. 14, 2013, after Ferrell, who’d once played defensive back for Florida A&M University, crawled from his wrecked car and staggered to a nearby house for help. A woman inside called 911 to report a possible break-in. Kerrick and two other officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the scene. Police dashcam footage showed officers pointing Tasers at Ferrell, who then ran. Kerrick, who’d been an officer for three years, stood in his path. He shouted for Ferrell to get on the ground, then shot Ferrell 10 times. Kerrick said he feared Ferrell was going to hurt him when he opened fire. Authorities charged Kerrick with manslaughter hours after the shooting. The officer’s defense attorney argued at the trial that dents on the home’s door indicated that Ferrell was force his way into the house, and stressed that he could have injured the officers even though he was not armed. But prosecutors said Ferrell wasn’t a threat, and argued that the defense was trying to “demonize” him. They said he did not approach the officers in an aggressive manner, and even if Kerrick felt threatened, he should have used his Taser or fought him off. Kerrick’s jury was racially diverse: seven white members, three blacks and two Latinos. It’s hard being black out here. We can’t even seek help after surviving life threatening car accidents. Do you think the jury should have found Officer Kerrick guilty?
A few days ago, I was heading into my office early before I hit the gym so that I could put my lunch in the refrigerator. Over the course of my 20-minute drive, I started thinking about how much I was putting my life in danger . I’d be going into the office before anyone else was there. I’d be dressed in gym clothes. And if a cop were to somehow catch me leaving the office, there’d be no way he or she would believe that I actually work in the building. And when I’d try to show my key or ID, it could be mistaken for a gun. And I’d be killed. For the rest of my drive to work, I thought about all of the scenarios. I thought about calling my wife and telling her what I was about to do so she’d know in case she got a call that I’d been killed. I started to post on Twitter that I’d be heading to my office and I wasn’t trying to break into anything, so that there would be a written testimony for when the media brings up some detail on my past to justify my death. These are the things I felt I needed to do to prepare for the possibility of running into American police. Because being Black in America means I’m perpetually putting my life in danger. I ended up just going to the gym and not even trying to go to the office early. ================ I remember hearing stories of suicide bombers in places like Baghdad and thinking about how terrifying it must be to not know when the next bomb was coming. This was right after 9/11 and we were inundated with stories of how dangerous life was for a Middle Eastern kid living in Al-Qaeda territories. In America, I’d felt like disasters on a 9/11 were scary, but they’d only happen at places like the World Trade Center or the Statue of Liberty. These kids in Iraq, though, were scared of being bombed at their coffee shops or buying fabric from the market. That just seemed like an entirely different terror to deal with. It haunted me to think about living in a circumstance in which any attempt to leave my house puts my life in danger. I feel that same terror. In 2015. In America. I’ve seen actual video of Black people murdered by police while driving to work, getting gas, riding their bikes and walking down the street. In 2003, 1.5 people were killed by suicide bomb every day in Iraq. In 2015, 2.3 people are killed by police every day. I don’t say this to compare the fears or say which situation was worse, but I do feel like we are living in a war zone. A country where citizens are in fear of a government-funded regime that’s determined to murder individuals with no recourse. And this can happen on our way to the store, at the park or on our own front porches. I’ve known too many Black men whose wives won’t let them go to a CVS to pick up a carton of eggs after dark. I know too many women who have to send text messages every 15 minutes of a road trip to reassure friends and loved ones that they haven’t been stopped by a cop. This isn’t living. This is surviving in a war zone. And we all have PTSD. I’ve seen PTSD firsthand. My father was a Freedom Rider and Civil Rights activist who saw friends die. He’s had police guns pointed at his temple and he’s woken up wondering how he survived the previous day. I’ve seen kids in New Orleans who survived Katrina and wouldn’t take showers even a year after the storm passed. Some kids, whose parents abandoned them to survive the storm, can’t be left alone for fear an adult is never coming back. I know the effects of PTSD well. And we all are suffering from it. There’s only so long we can watch people who look like us get gunned down daily and witness the murderers suffer zero consequences before it starts to affect us. It’s hard to imagine sometimes that the deaths of people we’ve never met before could affect us so much. That we’d not want to go to work the next morning or hang out because we were too affected by people who look like us getting killed. There have been days when I’ve seen a hashtag and haven’t wanted to get out of bed in the morning. A few weeks ago, I took a couple of days off of Twitter and was afraid to get back on because I didn’t want to see all the new hashtags I’d missed. Last night, there was another kid murdered by police in St. Louis and the script is the same. And it’s triggering. Police feel threatened. Boy accused of having a gun. People want answers. Gas bombs. Rubber bullets. It’s a nightmare that we relive every day. And it has tangible effects. America feels like a war zone. I don’t feel safe. I don’t feel like my life matters here. I feel like I’m at war in a battle that where I don’t have any weapons. It’s hard to tell myself not to live in fear. To defy the gun barrels aimed at my Blackness and enjoy my life. To tell my son that he can enjoy his youth and feel free here. Sometimes just feeling human seems impossible in America. Happiness is survival here. Functioning is a luxury. I just want to stay Black and live. And a lot of times, that’s the best I can do.
Crips In Brooklyn Send 10-Year-Old Boy To Set Fire To Local Discount Store 10.Years. Old. Uncle Snoop needs to holla at his set, cuz. Via NYDailyNews The 10-year-old terror arrested for robbing an elderly woman and trying to set a Brooklyn store on fire was well on his way to becoming one of the youngest gang members in the city, officials said. A Brooklyn Crips set is recruiting the 10-year-old, and the arson at a Deals Discount store on Clarkson Ave. in East Flatbush on Tuesday was some kind of initiation, police sources said. That’s pretty much unheard of, according to NYPD Assistant Commissioner Kevin O’Connor of the Juvenile Justice Division. Ten-year-old suspect in Brooklyn mugging now accused of setting store on fire: sources “It’s uncommon to hear a 10-year-old in a gang,” O’Connor said. “It’s not uncommon to hear that kids are being influenced by them.” Violent gangs and street crews were responsible for 60 of the 161 murders — about 37% — during the first half of the year. They were also tied to 283 — or about half —of the 569 shootings that occurred over the same time period, police said. Is there NO code of ethics among these sill azz gangs?? SMFH. Florida Police Union Starts Smear Campaign Against Young Woman Who Posted Video Of Beating We’ve told y’all time and time again to be careful about what you put on social media. Here is a prime example of how crooked a** cops will try to place the blame on black people when they’re the ones out here doing wrong. According to Raw Story : A Florida woman who posted video of a Miami cop beating a black teenager in the back of police cruiser has found herself under attack by the Miami Fraternal Order of Police, reports the Washington Post . Pushing back against social media — described as having placed a very negative tone on law enforcement nationwide” — the Miami Fraternal Order of Police union handed out the name and some purported Facebook photos of Marilyn Smith who posted the video of the cop assault taken by her friend Shenitria Blocker. The video, which has since gone viral, shows an unidentified officer beating a suspected pot suspect in the back of a police cruiser, before another officer tried to yank the recording device from Blocker’s hand. According to Blocker, police told her to delete the video or she would be arrested. Instead she shared the video with Smith who then posted it to her Facebook page, leading to an investigation and suspension of the officer. In case you missed the video here it is: Why beat someone who is HANDCUFFED. SMH. And these azzholes claim the man was “protecting the community”: In a statement to the press, Union President Lt. Javier Ortiz defended the officer saying he was “protecting our community,” before criticizing the public for using social media to shine a light on police abuses by adding, “social media has placed a very negative tone on law enforcement nationwide.” Along with the the statement the Union also handed out screenshots taken from Smith’s Facebook page showing her with black men holding guns. “What is extremely concerning is that the poster of this video (aka Facebook Marilyn Smith) has photographs of her with young men armed with handguns. It seems that no one cares to address this. Social media has focused so much on #blacklifematters [sic] /alllifematters campaigns, yet nobody targets the root of the problem our community faces today,” the statement read. “If the police officer has done something not within policy, it must be corrected. With that said, there is a much more serious message by this video poster. Our community has accepted behavior that motivates violence in our younger generation. It’s time for the community to take a stand against this reckless behavior and stop the violence. As the saying goes: It takes a village to raise a child. Guns don’t belong in the hands of children. It is the responsibility of our stakeholders that live in our community to stop that from occurring in the first place.” Smith has taken her Facebook page down while the case is still being investigated. Damn shame. These bozos try to deflect their wrongdoing by shaming people… But what do you think about the argument that violence in the community and the glamorization of guns is at the root of the problem. Is that a fair assessment??? Purported screenshots of Marilyn Smith’s Facebook page provided by Miami Fraternal Order of Police Continue reading →
RT.com The video shows Colorado Springs officer Tyler Walker, 29 at the time, clearly shoving the handcuffed woman into a chair by hitting her in the stomach. He then grabs Acker out of her seat and slams her on to the hospital floor. Aside from having two teeth knocked out, she suffered “trauma to the face, head, teeth and jaw; migraine headaches, concussion, closed head injuries, memory and cognitive function problems, as well as post-traumatic stress disorder.” Meanwhile, conflicting police reports state that Walker either “escorted her to the floor” or that he “rolled her … to the floor.” The incident took place after officers received calls of a disturbance involving a gun and were sent to check out Acker’s apartment. They reportedly found no probable cause. But, according to police, the woman was “intoxicated and verbally uncooperative with police,” while her boyfriend, Tyrin Tanks, was wanted on an outstanding warrant, according to Walker’s report. http://www.rt.com/usa/310085-police-brutality-teeth-knocked/
