Weekend Weddings: Jenna Fischer and Lee Kirk, Johnathon Schaech and Jana Rae Kramer

While most Americans barbecued and went to the beach this weekend, at least four people celebrated the Fourth of July in the most romantic way possible: by getting married! First, Jenna Fischer walked down the aisle with Lee Kirk. He and The Office star got engaged last summer while vacationing in Europe and have been together since January 2008. Also, actor Johnathon Schaech – who divorced Christina Applegate in 2007 – got hitched to One Tree Hill star Jana Rae Kramer in Michigan. They’ve been engaged since December. Congratulations to both couples!

Robert Pattinson Wants a Date, Better Body Than Taylor Lautner

Forget rumors about engagements and babies and other false tabloid reports concerning his love life. Robert Pattinson has far more basic desires: “I would like to go on a date,” he told Jenna Bush Hager this morning on Today . “I’m just saying. I’m just putting that out there. Because I never go on dates anymore.” If the actor is seeking company for said date, there are approximately 7.9 million THG readers that would take him up on the offer. While Robert can clearly get a date any time he wants it, the star’s other dream is unlikely to ever come true. Asked about his relationship with Taylor Lautner, Pattinson joked about the constant competition between the pair: “I want to have better hair than him. On August 9, the awards will be handed out on Fox, with Iron Man 2 and Gossip Girl leading with six nominations apiece and New Moon and Glee each securing five. Other stars with multiple nods were Lady Gaga , Justin Bieber, Zoe Saldana, Kristen Bell, Steve Carell, Sam Worthington, Tina Fey, Rachel McAdams and many more. Gossip Girl ‘s Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick all got nods, as did Glee ‘s Lea Michele, Jane Lynch and Cory Monteith. VAMPIRES SUCK : Only literally, of course. They’re popular in movies and TV . ‘One Tree Hill’ Star Robert Buckley Celebrates Renewal News

The CW waited until Tuesday to tell the drama’s stars they’d been renewed for season eight. By Jocelyn Vena Robert Buckley Photo: MTV News “One Tree Hill” is the CW’s version of the little engine that could. Every time it looks like the show is about to get canceled, its dedicated and vocal fanbase come to the rescue, demanding another season. Star Robert Buckley (Clay) told MTV News on the green carpet at the CW upfronts on Thursday (May 20) that he didn’t get the news of their renewal for season eight until this week. “Oh my God! We got picked up. Woo!” he exclaimed, kidding that he just found out on the carpet. “No, I found out on Tuesday morning-ish, and I found out from an Internet website. Just goes to show you the power of the press.” Earlier this week, Buckley stopped by the MTV Newsroom and revealed that he didn’t believe that Monday night’s episode would be the series finale, even though he still wasn’t sure. “It was funny. I did an interview on Monday, before I went to MTV, and they said, ‘Congrats on your pickup!’ And so, yeah, I found out Tuesday, [even though] Monday people were telling me we were picked up and we weren’t.” Despite the kind words from fans and the press on Monday, Buckley didn’t want to jinx anything before he got the official word that they’d be back for more drama. “We were about to go into the interview, and I was like, ‘You need to not say were picked up because were not,’ ” he said. “And how awkward would that be?” The eighth season of “One Tree Hill” will air on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET this fall, followed by the new drama “Nikita,” starring Maggie Q.
