Men in Black 3 Dethrones Avengers; Chernobyl Diaries Melts Down

The Memorial Day frame wasn’t one quite worth remembering for Will Smith, who walked away with the holiday’s biggest opening almost by default as The Avengers waned — not a lot, but enough — in its fourth weekend. Meanwhile, the week’s other wide release suffered a catastrophic B.O. meltdown en route to sixth place overall. Your special holiday-edition Weekend Receipts are here. [All figures reflect four-day totals.] 1. Men in Black 3 Gross: $70,000,000 (new) Screens: 4,248 (PSA: $16,478) Weeks: 1 Will Smith ‘s first summer entry in four years didn’t exactly blow the roofs off America’s multiplexes — the third installment of the sci-fi/comedy mashups had a $55,000,000 three-day total that basically matched those of its franchise predecessors from 1997 and 2002. But that’s what foreign box-office is for: $133 million and counting, giving Sony a $200 million global total that it should be able to build on in the weeks ahead opposite the modest-looking Snow White and the Huntsman and the R-rated Prometheus . 2. The Avengers Gross: $46,878,000 ($523,563,000) Screens: 3,918 (PSA $11,965) Weeks: 4 (Change: -15.8%) In four weeks, Marvel’s blockbuster has settled into the fourth spots on both the all-time domestic and foreign gross lists. It’ll take the third spots from The Dark Knight and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (respectively) in the next 24 hours. The Avengers , ladies and gentlemen! There are no words. 3. Battleship Gross: $13,769,000 ($47,274,000) Screens: 3,702 (PSA: $3,719) Weeks: 2 (Change: -46.1%) Don’t let the 46 percent decline fool you; the three-day total reflected a 57 percent plunge from its pillow-soft Stateside debut. Again, though, its foreign ardor persists — not quite enough to make the whole thing worth Universal or Hasbro’s while, but hey. At least there’s always G.I. Joe 2 ! Oh, wait . 4. The Dictator Gross: $11,755,000 ($43,603,000) Screens: 3,014 (PSA $3,900) Weeks: 2 (Change: -32.6%) I dunno, maybe this wasn’t the best weekend to be joking around about Middle Eastern despots at the movies? 5. Dark Shadows Gross: $9,405,000 ($64,888,000) Screens: 3,404 (PSA $2,763) Weeks: 3 (Change: -25.3%) Someone had to finish fifth. 6. Chernobyl Diaries Gross: $9,300,000 ($9,300,000) Screens: 2,433 (PSA $3,822) Weeks: 1 David Poland said it best : ” Oren Peli just isn’t a brand. Sorry.” Aren’t we all. Phoebe Price Modeling Bikinis of the Day

Phoebe Price posted these pictures of her modeling bathing suits for some Italian swimwear line yesterday and I couldn’t help but laugh….I mean what kind of sorry fucking company would use a bitch like Phoebe Price as a spokesperson for shit…I mean she’s a struggling spokesperson for herself…and squeezing her tired, useles, old body into a bathing suit, just makes the bitch look like a clown on her way to a Frat birthday party as some mean joke and not somethng anyone buying slutty, trashy bikinis that look suited for retired stripprs, would wanna look at….but I guess Phoebe Price has consistently been a joke….and here’s just an extension of that…..

Sara Jean Underwood Modeling Bikinis and Costumes of the Day

I appreciate when Sara Jean Underwood does….sure I PREFER LOOKING AT HER NAKED PUSSY ….I’m a purist and figure that’s where she belongs and that is what she’s meant to be doing…this attempt at mainstream, although a logical move for more money and longivity, especially when targetting virgin losers makes sense, they are loyal, I get it….but bitch was better off getting naked for attention…… Here she is in a photoshoot that my sources say is from 2012, despite looking like some low budget trash from the 90s, you know like the opening pics to a porn photogallery, where she ends up fisting herself til she squirts, the kind of photoshoot only someone serious about her career as a mainstream TV personality would do…..because modeling bikinis for 20,000 dollars or less just makes sense…. I’m all for girls being in bikinis and getting their money’s worth out of her fake tits, but this Sara Jean is sending me mixed messages yo….

Melissa Gorga on Teresa Giudice Gold-Digging Diss: Hurtful!

The Real Housewives of New Jersey kicked off season four last night, and very little looked or sounded different to veteran viewers of this franchise. Main case in point: Melissa Gorga is still have problems with Teresa Giudice, especially after the latter claimed – during the premiere – that Gorga would leave Teresa’s husband, Joe, if a “richer man” came along. “I’m trying everything I can to bite my tongue and give a pass here and there, but [her comments] hurt because that’s family,” Gorga told Us Weekly after the episode aired. “What she said [about Joe and I] made no sense. She had no rhyme or reason to say it. It’s very obvious it’s not the case and not true.” Why would Teresa make such statement? Her sibling had a theory, which he expressed on the opening installment. “I believe that she’s living a rough life with her husband, she’s unhappy and misery loves company,” Joe Gorga said.

Lady Gaga Taps The Darkness To Open Born This Way Ball

Reformed British rockers are ‘honoured’ to serve as openers on European leg of Gaga’s tour, which kicks off August 14 in Bulgaria. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga Photo: Joe Scarnici/ WireImage Perhaps looking for some actual Heavy Metal Lovers, Lady Gaga has tapped reunited British rockers the Darkness as the opening act on the first — though we’re willing to bet not last — leg of her Born This Way Ball, which kicks off August 14 in Sofia, Bulgaria. The Darkness confirmed the news Tuesday morning (April 10) on their official site (which, in a very Darkness move, is called TheActualDarkness.com ), writing that they were “honoured [British spelling, extra classy] to announce their addition to the bill as main support for Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball tour 2012.” The glammy, hammy rockers — best known for theatrical hits like “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” and “Growing on Me” — burned bright before imploding in 2006 , but announced a reunion (and plans for a new album) just last year. And as a way of kickstarting the next chapter of their career, frontman Justin Hawkins appeared in a well-received Samsung commercial that aired during Super Bowl XLV, in which he starred as a Spandex-clad pied piper who rescued folks from the monotony of everyday life. So, you know, it was basically a documentary. It’s not clear if the Darkness will serve as the opening act on all of Gaga’s Euro dates (a spokesperson for the band did not respond to MTV News’ request for comment by press time), but, thanks to the Mother Monster herself, we now know that there are European dates for the much-discussed BTW Ball. Gaga unveiled the first 21 shows early Tuesday morning on her Twitter account. After kicking off August 14 in Bulgaria, she’ll make stops in Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Germany, France and the U.K. before wrapping October 6 in Barcelona. Related Videos MTV First: Lady Gaga

‘Hunger Games’ Ignites Box Office: Experts Weigh In

One box-office watcher tells MTV News the book adaptation was ‘the hottest party around and nobody wanted to be left out.’ By Kevin P. Sullivan Wes Bentley as Seneca Crane in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate We all knew “The Hunger Games” would debut to enormous opening-weekend numbers, but few could have predicted just how quickly the fire would spread. The YA adaptation opened to an incredible $155 million weekend, passing up “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” and “Spider-Man 3” to have the third-highest opening weekend behind “The Dark Knight” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” Early predictions had “The Hunger Games” opening at a respectable $70 million, not even half the actual total and in range of this year’s “The Lorax,” another recent box-office surprise. As the release drew nearer, analysts bumped up the predicted total to a range of $125 million to $130 million. The reason for the initially low prediction lies with another YA series, according to Jeff Bock of Exhibitor Relations . “Many people were comparing this to the original ‘Twilight’ film, which grossed $69 million its opening weekend,” Bock said. “Even though the book series was a huge success, many other young adult novels have been translated to film recently and failed to produce the next ‘Harry Potter’ or ‘Twilight,’ so, as an unproven commodity, expectations were tempered a bit with ‘The Hunger Games.’ Even Lionsgate was estimating that the film would debut with a three-day weekend gross of $75 million earlier in the week; they certainly didn’t expect it to nearly eclipse that number on opening day.” Wanna win a Hunger Games special edition HP laptop from MTV News? Click here to enter! The strong push out of the gate came from a combination of an aggressive marketing campaign by Lionsgate and groundswell created by fans of Suzanne Collins’ best-selling books. Gitesh Pandya of Box Office Guru said it was a precise combination of those key factors that led to such an explosive opening weekend. “The record opening was driven by the loyal fanbase, which is humongous, along with a carefully crafted marketing push that intrigued them and also drew in new audiences in time for the movie’s release,” Pandya said. “Marketing was a key component to the massive debut, as the film wasn’t over-promoted to the point of repelling people. Lionsgate turned the opening weekend of ‘Hunger Games’ into the hottest party around and nobody wanted to be left out.” Lionsgate is certainly not wasting any time in trying to repeat the magic of their biggest hit to date. Production on the sequel, “Catching Fire,” is scheduled to begin this summer with a release tentatively set for November 2013. Pandya believes the next adventure of Katniss Everdeen could even go bigger. “Studios knew to stay out of the way of ‘Hunger Games,’ which is why no other film opened wide this weekend. But now they know how big of a juggernaut it is, and if history is any indicator, the opening of ‘Catching Fire’ will be even bigger in November 2013,” Pandya said. “And unless Disney changes its superhero date, we’re going to see a big-brother battle as Liam Hemsworth’s ‘Catching Fire’ will open just one week after Chris Hemsworth’s ‘Thor 2.’ ” What did you think of The Hunger Games?
