F Yesterday (July 23) Amber Rose launched her new escapex app and to bolster its success the founder of the Slut Walk has announced that her fans won’t just get a social media platform to build on, but they’ll also get some financial backing. Designed to empower women who want to better themselves and their lives, escapex will also have a feature that involves Amber Rose coming out of pocket to help fund some of its users tuition costs, pay some others rent, and fund some business endeavors. Yeah, you read that right. Amber Rose’s going to be investing in people. According to  Page Six , Rose feels that her Rosebud community deserves to be seen and heard and she’s doing what she can to help them do just that. “I wanted it to be very personal so it’s going to be full of content you can’t find on any of my other platforms,” Rose said in a news release. “I also know how amazing my fans are, so this gives me the opportunity to show them I see and hear them. I want to give back and build a tight-knit community in which they can all feel empowered to be themselves with the support of other members of the amazing Amber Rose community.” And as for getting funded personally by Rose,  “Amber will be funding these projects on her own as she wants to support the individuals who have been supporting her along the way,” the rep told us. You can hate on a lot of things about Amber Rose’s lifestyle, but you really can’t hate on that.

Instagram Announces IGTV App, Allow Users To Upload Hour Long Videos

Source: Instagram / Instagram Earlier this month, rumors about Instagram looking to take on YouTube by allowing users to upload hour long videos were in the air. Yesterday (June 20), we found out Instagram was dead serious about the idea.  Via its blog, I Instagram announced  they now have a global community of 1 billion users and a new standalone app, IGTV, that will allow users to watch and upload long-form content. The videos will be presented in vertical format catering to the fact that is how most people use their form. So you can expect hour-long content from your favorite IG creators. Now if you don’t want to download another app, Instagram will allow users to view the content from the original Instagram app. IGTV will be like turning on your TV; videos will play as soon as you open the app we are not sure that is super necessary. Hopefully, there will be an option to turn that feature off. IGTV will also feature channels just like TV but “the creators are the channels.” Instagram states “you can swipe up to discover more — switch between “For You,” “Following,” “Popular” and “Continue Watching.” You can also like, comment and send videos to friends in Direct.” You don’t have to a have a huge following to start your channel because on IGTV anyone fits the mold. Users will be able to upload videos via the app or web to launch your channel. It sounds like YouTube has a new challenger to worry about in IGTV and with a billion users behind it the opportunity to dethrone the video sharing platform is very achievable. IGTV’s app will launch on Android and iOS in the next few weeks. The service is live on Instagram right now. Are you guys excited about IGTV? Is Instagram doing too much? Puma Has Relaunched Their Basketball Division, With Jay Z Joining As President

After major speculations about their return, the shoe and sportswear company has made it official by announcing the signings of top draft prospects including DeAndre Ayton (Arizona), Marvin Bagley III (Duke), and Zhaire Smith (Texas Tech). Ayton is considered the unanimous favorite to go No. 1 to the Phoenix Suns in Thursday’s draft, while Bagley and Smith are also expected to go in the lottery. On top of that news,  Jay Z  has joined as the company’s president of basketball operations. Adam Petrick , Puma’s global director of brand and marketing, told Complex : “We’ve been working with Roc Nation for quite some time. They’ve been great partners to us for several years. We’ve done many different deals with many different ambassadors.” When Puma approached him about this opportunity, Hov felt it “was something he wanted to be a part of,” according to Petrick. Mr. Carter will have a hand in the players selected to join Puma’s basketball division, along with assisting in the art design and overall concept and direction of the brand. “What’s important to him on a day like today is that it’s clear we’re making a serious push with players like Bagley and Ayton and Smith. We’re making a serious statement about the entry of the category, that we want to be a performance brand, but then also very culturally focused. It’s clear that we’re looking at basketball through the lens of culture, and thinking about the fashion of basketball, the music of basketball, all the aspects of culture around basketball as much as the on court presence that we will have,” Petrick continued. Terrell Owens Chooses Not To Attend His Induction Into NFL Hall of Fame

Source: photo: WENN After missing out on making the Hall of Fame his first go ’round, Terrell Owens has been chosen to be enshrined in that building in Canton, Ohio. However,  he’s not impressed with that feat anymore. At least not enough to attend his own ceremony. In an act of defiance (and pettiness), Terrell Owens has chosen to skip his induction into the Hall of Fame for a celebration of his own according to ESPN . “While I am incredibly appreciative of this opportunity, I have made the decision to publicly decline my invitation to attend the induction ceremony in Canton,” Owens said in a statement released Thursday. “… After visiting Canton earlier this year, I came to the realization that I wish to celebrate what will be one of the most memorable days of my life, elsewhere.” Um, ok. While TO’s decision reeks of resentment and bitterness, HOF president David Baker respects Owen’s choice to not attend. “We are disappointed but will respect Terrell’s decision not to participate in the enshrinement,” Hall of Fame president David Baker said in a statement. “While unprecedented, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the nearly 5,000 volunteers and the entire community are committed to celebrating the excellence of the Class of 2018 that will kick off the NFL’s 99th season.” The ceremony will take place on August 4th in Canton, Ohio, which leaves Owen’s a lot of time to change his mind, but from the looks of things he seems ready to live with a big regret just to make a point. At least he took the time to congratulate everyone else who made it to legendary status. “I wish to congratulate all past, current and future inductees,” Owens said in the statement. “It is quite an honor to be part of such elite company. This honor is something that I will cherish forever.” It’s not too late to get over your own ego, TO. Just sayin.’
