Soulja Boy Tell’em ‘Got Back On My Production’ For DeAndre Way

‘Pretty Boy Swag’ MC returns to “Rapfix Live” this Thursday. By Steven Roberts Soulja Boy Tell’em Photo: MTV News Arguable one of the most polarizing figures in current hip-hop, Soulja Boy Tell’em has both die-hard fans and his share of critics who like to point out his preference for party over substance in his music. But the “Pretty Boy Swag” MC promises that his third studio album, The DeAndre Way, out on Tuesday (November 30), will show how much he has learned over the years, possibly pleasing fans and haters alike. “I’ve just been watching a lot of rappers, learning, taking notes,” Soulja told MTV News on the video set for the album’s third single, “Speaker Going Hammer.” “I’ve really been in the studio working on my production as producer, because I was rapping and jumping on so many different songs that I forgot that I produced the #1 song in the world. I really just sat and got back on my production. I worked on my lyrics and really I just made a good album, and I’m ready for my fans to hear it.” And if you want him to explain more about how his music has matured, you can ask him yourself this Thursday, when he makes his second appearance on MTV News’ “RapFix Live.” One artist who has helped Soulja evolve was his “Mean Mug” collaborator 50 Cent . Both were featured on the November cover of XXL, where they expressed their mutual admiration for each other. Soulja Boy said they faced common adversities, and 50 said if he could be any other artist it would be Soulja. On his video set, Soulja also talked about why he loves the opportunity to sit back, listen and learn from Fif. “When I talk to dudes like 50 Cent, when we working on songs or other business outside of the music industry, there’s always things that you can learn,” he told MTV News. “You always think that you know it all, but you don’t. When I’m around 50, he just likes to ramble. He can go on and talk. He can talk and talk and talk. And it’s so good for me, because I just listen and I soak it all up. And I take it and I put my own twist on it.” Soulja’s “Rapfix Live” interview will stream live online at 4 p.m. on Thursday. Tweet your burning questions for the “Crank Dat” rapper to @mtvnews (include the hashtag #rapfixlive so that we can track your questions). If you’d rather show your face on the Internet, record your question on video, upload it to Your.MTV.com and include “Soulja Boy Tell ’em” in the title of the clip. Jennifer Grey Reflects on "Unbelievable" Dancing With the Stars Win

After having four neck surgeries and waging a fight against cancer, Jennifer Grey “didn’t even think about winning” when Dancing With the Stars began. When she was handed the Mirror Ball trophy Tuesday, the health woes the 50-year-old battled made it even sweeter. “This is so unbelievable,” she said . “I feel so grateful, so blessed, that I had this opportunity. I don’t know that there’s any experience that will ever be anything like this again.” Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough are this season’s champions. Grey’s title was effectively sealed 10 minutes before the big reveal, when lightning rod finalist Bristol Palin was named the season’s third-place finisher. It came down to Jennifer and Kyle Massey, who she bested with two perfect scores Monday, and whose fan support wasn’t expected to match Bristol’s. After weeks of debate about Palin’s staying power thanks to an active fan base, in the end it was not quite enough to deny Jennifer what was hers. Kyle Massey and partner Lacey Schwimmer knew it too. “We didn’t think we’d make it past the first week, so to make it to the finals and to place second behind Jennifer and Derek, who got perfect scores , means we were pretty close to perfection,” Massey said after the show. “Jennifer deserved to win. America got it right.” With partner Hough’s help, Grey slowly made her way around the ballroom after the show to talk to the press with a ruptured disc in her lower back. She sustained that Monday, and in between performances last night, Grey was in pain. An ice pack was strategically tucked into her dancing pants. Grey credited her husband, actor Clark Gregg, and their 8-year-old daughter, Stella, for their undying support of her ballroom “immersion course.” “I’ve done nothing but sleep and take care of my injuries. They have been so amazing,” says Grey. “My husband has been taking care of everything and my daughter has become so much more self-sufficient. It’s been great for everyone.” “I found out my husband can cook!” Sounds like a win-win to us!

Beck: Obama Will Blame Terror Attack On TSA Resistance

Fox News host warns that administration is preparing to exploit event to squelch resistance to airport security In little noticed comments made during an appearance on Judge Andrew Napolitano’s show on Fox News, Glenn Beck warned that the Obama administration wouldn’t hesitate to exploit a terror attack targeting airliners to blame the event on people protesting naked body scanners and TSA groping in airports. The Fox News host said that the government was deliberately provoking the American people to rise up so they could squelch the growing resistance with an iron fist, noting that Obama has failed to give a single speech addressing the TSA revolt even amidst the biggest holiday travel period of the year. “Let’s get people to rise up and say no scanners….something happens, the President then has the ability to finally give a speech on airport security and say ‘I was trying to protect you and these people stood up against these scanners, and these people died because of it….you have to stop listening, I’ll protect you,” said Beck, implying that the Obama administration would exploit a terror attack to blame it on those protesting against scanners and TSA groping in airports. Beck added that people in the Obama administration were probably having casual conversations surrounding the potential of a terror attack targeting airline travel along the lines of, “Gee, it wouldn’t be so bad, would it?” Beck made similar comments earlier this month when he suggested that the Obama administration was preparing to stage an event that would be blamed on opponents of big government. Discussing how leftists need violence to realize their political agenda, Beck featured a clip in which former Clintonite and Democrat operative Mark Penn said Obama needs an OKC bombing-style event to regain his popularity. “Remember, President Clinton reconnected through Oklahoma, right?” said Penn on Chris Matthews’ Hardball show. “And the president right now seems removed. It wasn’t until that speech [after the bombing] that [Clinton] really clicked with the American public. Obama needs a similar” defining moment, according to Penn. As we have documented, Penn is not the only prominent insider to invoke exploitation of terror as a means of reinvigorating the big government agenda. Back in July, former senior advisor to President Bill Clinton Robert Shapiro wrote in the Financial Times that only an OKC bombing or 9/11 style event could provide Obama with the opportunity to demonstrate that he is a strong leader. After reading a letter written by Tides CEO and founder Drummond Pike that encouraged advertisers to boycott Fox News in a thinly veiled threat that implied Beck’s rhetoric is leading to another OKC bombing, Beck stated, “They are setting up an Oklahoma City, they are claiming that one is coming and they’re already marked the one who caused it,” referring to himself. The resistance to TSA groping and naked body scanners is only accelerating as Thanksgiving nears and a national opt-out protest is less than 48 hours away. More and more cases of TSA abuse continue to pour in on a daily basis as Transportation Security Administration head John Pistole indicates for the first time that the agency may be starting to cave to the backlash. Pistole told CNN’s State of the Union yesterday that screening procedures would not be altered but in a subsequent statement acknowledged that the TSA needed to make airport security “as minimally invasive as possible,” in response to the building nationwide outrage and vows by numerous airport directors to ditch the TSA altogether in favor of private security. http://www.prisonplanet.com/beck-obama-will-blame-terror-attack-on-tsa-resistanc… added by: im1mjrpain

What’s the trade-off for an increasingly connected world?

Increasing connectivity isn't new: we're constantly tweeting, sending photos, and checking email. And technology constantly reaches into new places. Last week, a network of eight 3G base stations began operations on the route to Mount Everest. There are certainly upsides to the new connectivity — it will provide updated weather information for climbers, and can act as an alert for nearby flood-prone villages. But will this newfound connectivity also limit the ability of travelers to be fully present on their journey. Will they be so busy uploading photos to Flickr and texting their friends that they miss the opportunity to really appreciate the view and their fellow travelers? What are the trade-offs we make for increasing connectivity? Are the benefits worth it, or do we need to preserve opportunities to truly disconnect? added by: sgwhites

How Not To Fire a Watermelon Out of a Huge Slingshot

If successfully launching a watermelon out of a person-sized slingshot means sending it soaring away from you at an incredibly high speed, then I guess this is pretty much the exact opposite. “Ouch” doesn't begin to describe it. http://gizmodo.com/5632751/how-not-to-fire-a-watermelon-out-of-a-huge-slingshot added by: pjacobs51

Even Bugs Have Personality

Individual insects and bugs may all look alike to human eyes, but each and every one is unique and possesses its own personality, suggests new research that also helps to explain how personality arises in virtually all organisms. Some individual bugs, like humans, turn out to be shy, while others are very forceful, determined the study, published in the latest Proceedings of the Royal Society B. “Boldness, explorativeness, activity and aggressiveness are the main personality traits usually measured because these connect to each other and appear together,” lead author Eniko Gyuris told Discovery News. What makes a bug bold or shy? Gyuris explains the traits manifest themselves a bit differently in insects. “Boldness — whether they are shier or braver — could be defined, for example, as to how quickly they start after an alarm, or how soon they come out of their refuge,” added Gyuris, a member of the Behavioral Ecology Research Group at the University of Debrecen. “Explorativeness could be measured in another context, namely in which they have the opportunity to discover a new environment with novel objects.” Gyuris and his team conducted personality tests on short-winged and long-winged firebugs, a common insect that's known for its striking red and black coloration. The researchers collected these bugs from wild populations in Debrecen, Hungary, and put them through a barrage of different situations. In one experiment, an individual firebug was placed in a covered vial that was moved to a small, lit circular arena. Four colored plugs made of gum were arranged on the arena's floor to serve as objects for each bug to explore. The scientists then tapped the vial and removed the cover, noting how long it took for the insect to leave its protective container and explore its new surroundings. The researchers also shook the bugs out of their vials and into the arena. The scientists recorded how many objects each firebug explored, how fast the bug moved, how long it took to reach the wall of the arena, and more. All experiments were repeated four times per bug. Each individual firebug behaved in a unique manner that was consistent across all of the experiments. If a particular bug was classified as bold and brave, it acted that way under a variety of circumstances. The same held true for more tentative, less aggressive firebugs. Females tended to show more extreme reactions, with long-winged firebugs acting bolder than short-winged ones. The scientists believe their findings carry over to other bugs and animals, with genes, gender, life experiences, environmental conditions and other factors shaping personality. “I think nearly every individual — insects and other organisms alike — has his or her own personality, with the possible exception of the ones living in very specific and stable habitats for a long time, like a cave, for example, as they may not need to behave in different ways among conspecifics,” Gyuris explained. Raine Kortet, a University of Helsinki researcher, and colleague Ann Hedrick discovered that personalities are all over the chart for field crickets, particularly among males. Some are veritable daredevils, while others are passive and guarded. Kortet and Hedrick concluded that “more aggressive males are also more active in general, and possibly less cautious towards predation risk.” Prior research by Kortet also found that dominant male crickets are more attractive to females, with dominance possibly tied to better immune defense and certain beneficial genes. But boldness isn't always better. “Some traits can be beneficial in one context” but not in another, Gyuris indicated. A brazen male bug that may be hearty and popular with females due to boldness, for example, could display aggressive behavior around an annoyed human and get squished in the process. added by: Almibry
