Bret Michaels Back In The Hospital

A test finds a hole in the singer’s heart. By Kara Warner Bret Michaels Photo: Harpo Fresh from a healthier-looking appearance on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” following his hospitalization for treatment of a brain hemorrhage last month, rocker Bret Michaels is back in the hospital after complaining of numbness on the left side of his body in his face and hands. According to Michaels’ website , doctors described the symptoms as a Transient Ischemic Attack or warning stroke. While performing MRI and CT scans, doctors conducted ultrasound tests looking for blood clots — specifically an Ultrasound Bubble Test of his heart — which proved positive for a Patent Forum Ovale, or a hole in his heart. Michaels’ neurosurgeon is quoted on the site: “There is no doubt that the positive Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) is devastating news to Bret and his family. The good news is that it is operable and treatable and we think we may have diagnosed the problem that caused the Transient Ischemic Attach (TIA) or warning stroke; however we feel it is highly unlikely this is connected to the brain hemorrhage he suffered just a few weeks earlier. Once again it is great that he quickly reacted to the severe numbness and got to the hospital immediately. “I realize Bret wants to make a full recovery so that he can be active with his family, attempt to attend the finale of ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ and especially get back on the road to continue making music,” Dr. Zabramski continued. “Without a doubt he is very determined to get healthy and make a 100% recovery. Medically speaking it is a fantastic attitude both mentally and physically for him to have. However, Bret’s brain and body are not quite 100% yet, especially with the hole found in his heart. Further tests will be conducted throughout the week and I will have more information next week as to how this Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) will be treated. For now, Bret will be treated with outpatient care, which includes a daily injection of Lovenox (a blood thinner to reduce the chance of blood clots) and blood tests.” Michaels’ rep, Janna Elias, added the following statement on Bret’s behalf: “Bret wants everyone to know he cannot thank you enough for all of the well-wishes, prayers and good vibes you have sent his way. Even though these last few months have been tough on him and his family, especially this most recent setback, he is in good spirits, great medical hands and is positive and hopeful that everything is going to be OK. He is up, walking, talking, continuing his daily rehab and very happy to be alive, but he has made it clear he is sick and tired of being in the hospital and is ready to rock again.” It was unclear what day Michaels entered the hospital or whether this latest setback will affect his scheduled “Celebrity Apprentice” appearance on Sunday. Bret Michaels Tells Oprah He Rocked A Bandanna In His Hospital Bed

‘I said, ‘If I’m going out, I want to go out rockin’,’ ‘ he says on Wednesday’s ‘Oprah Winfrey Show.’ By Kara Warner Bret Michaels Photo: Jason LaVeris/ FilmMagic Fresh off being named one of the top two finalists on “The Celebrity Apprentice,” Poison frontman Bret Michaels is taking his story — specifically, his recent recovery from a life-threatening brain hemorrhage — to “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” During the sit-down — Michaels’ first on-camera appearance since being rushed to the hospital for treatment of a subarachnoid hemorrhage last month — Michaels said he knew something “was severely wrong” the moment it happened, People reports. “It just exploded instantly — ran from my temple down to the back of my skull,” the singer/reality star said on the show, which airs Wednesday. Michaels spent two weeks in intensive care, yet in true rocker fashion, he said he insisted on wearing his signature bandanna throughout the ordeal, even while confined to his hospital bed. “I said, ‘If I’m going out, I want to go out rockin’.’ ” Despite making rapid progress, Michaels is still in the midst of intense physical rehab. He will appear on Sunday’s finale of “The Celebrity Apprentice,” and win or lose, the rocker has plenty to keep him busy in the coming weeks. He announced last week that he will return to the stage at the Hard Rock in Biloxi, Mississippi, on May 28. He is also reportedly set to begin a tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd on June 10 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Michaels recently revealed his next TV project, returning to his “Rock of Love” home, VH1, for the series “Life As I Know It.” The reality show debuts May 31 and promises viewers an inside look at Bret’s home life. Finally, Michaels has a new album to promote, Custom Built, due June 8. It features his collaboration with Miley Cyrus on “Nothing to Lose,” as well as a cover of Sublime’s landmark hit “What I Got.” Will you check out Bret’s interview on “Oprah”? He will appear on Wednesday’s episode of ‘Oprah’ and plans to attend the live ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ finale. By MTV News staff Bret Michaels Photo: George Napolitano/ Getty Images Bret Michaels will make his first TV appearance since suffering a brain hemorrhage on Wednesday’s episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” People reports. He’s also planning to attend the live “Celebrity Apprentice” finale on May 23, his rep told the magazine Friday (May 13). The rep confirmed reports that Michaels is aiming to be back on the road in time for his May 28 show at the Hard Rock in Biloxi, Mississippi. The 47-year-old Poison rocker, who suffered a nearly fatal brain hemorrhage last month, was discharged from a Phoenix hospital on May 4. Michaels is reportedly stepping up his physical therapy to get back in shape for the Mississippi show on his postponed Roses & Thorns Tour. That outing was first interrupted when Michaels underwent an emergency appendectomy on April 12. At a May 4 press conference, Michaels’ doctors said he was doing well, walking and talking and expected to make a 100 percent recovery. At the time, physicians said he was still subject to painful blood clots, back pain and headaches. His doctor predicted at the time that Michaels might be able to resume regular activities within four to six weeks but said that he warned Michaels not to make any promises about when he would get back to work. Do you think Bret Michaels is pushing himself too hard to get back to work? Or is he just doing what he loves? Sound off in the comments. Tom Cruise Talks Suri, Stunts And Scrabble On ‘Oprah’

‘I look at buildings and think, how could I climb it?,’ actor says of stunt work. By Eric Ditzian Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” Photo: Harpo Maybe the key was that there was no couch this time. When Tom Cruise stopped by “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on Friday (May 14), the Hollywood star and the talk show host each sat on beige chairs, and so there was no chance of repeating his infamous couch-jumping incident in 2005 — that indelible moment of pop culture history that had Oprah saying, “You’re gone!” and the rest of the world agreeing with her. Or perhaps they’d already moved on, seeing as how the two had already rehashed the wacky episode during a 2008 interview at Cruise’s Telluride home. In any event, their talk on Wednesday focused on Cruise’s career, his wife, Katie Holmes, and how the couple raises their children in the midst of constant media and paparazzi attention. “We don’t make it a problem,” Cruise — who is one of the presenters at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards next month — said. “We don’t get nervous about it. You get used to it after so long, and Kate is a very relaxed person, and you just deal with it.” Addressing how his 4-year-old daughter Suri has become a constant presence in tabloid magazines and recognized for her burgeoning fashion sense, he said, “Whatever she wants to wear, she wears it. I’m not going to tell her different. She’s got great taste, too. She tells me what to wear.” When Cruise and Holmes are not a film set, they make sure to spend their evenings together at home with their families. “Saturday night we have dinner, and then it’s games,” he said. “We play Quick Scrabble, and then it’s usually movie night. We spend the whole night figuring out what movies we want to see.” Usually they watch new releases, but every so often his kids request to see one of their dad’s old flicks. Cruise’s upcoming movie is “Knight and Day,” an action-comedy co-starring Cameron Diaz. Cruise did almost all his own stunts. “I’m always thinking of different stunts,” he said. “I look at buildings and think, how could I climb it? How could I jump out? I was working on this … and I said, ‘Look, we’ve got to do something where Cameron is on the bike and I get to flip her around and she shoots guns.’ I’m very careful about it when I do it — very studied, but I enjoy it. When I was a little kid, I used to go up on a roof and jump off the roof into the snow and do flips and stuff, and now I get to do it in movies.” Don’t miss the MTV Movie Awards , airing Sunday, June 6, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV!

Oprah Welcomes The Cast of The Twiiiiilight Saga!

Within a few minutes of Robert Pattinson , Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner taking the stage on The Oprah Winfrey Show today, the host compared the group to The Beatles. While anyone born before 1960 is likely rolling over in his/her grave right now, listen (below) to the response these stars received on the talk show. Defeaning does not begin to describe it. Oprah Talks Twilight Once the screams died down, Oprah started to grill the Eclipse cast. She had to ask Robert and Kristen about their relationship, of course, which promoted the following exchange (and subsequent, ridiculous tabloid cover ): Pattinson : Kristen’s pregnant. Stewart : He really loves to shock people because he thinks it’s funny. No, we’ve actually had this conversation. He’s having the baby. Oh, those two. As for what Lautner is looking for in a woman, he told the adoring audience: “Loyalty. “Honesty. Really important to me is somebody who can totally let loose and pretty much be themselves and have fun.” Stewart was asked about the character of Bella Swan and said: “I can also completely relate to the fact that she’s totally awkward, but that she owns it and she’s not going to say anything she doesn’t mean.” Other topics tocuedh on during an interesting hour of television: How Taylor bulked up for his role as Jacob eating beef panties all day. How Rob wanted to be a rapper when he was 14. What it’s like to be part of this franchise, as relayed by Pattinson: “It’s not really about you. So, it never really goes to your head and you can kind of participate in it. It’s about the fans themselves. A lot of people, they just like doing Twilight-related things.” Check out more from the cast below. Twilight Cast Interview

‘Eclipse’ Clip Shows Volturi Scheming In Seattle

Dakota Fanning and company watch the newborn vampires’ chaos in brand-new clip. By Eric Ditzian Photo: Summit Entertainment Robert Pattinson , Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner don’t need to get all the attention, do they? With the “Twilight” trio set to appear together Thursday (May 13) on an episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Summit Entertainment released a brand-new clip from “Eclipse” in which none of them appears. Instead the footage, which debuted as an iTunes exclusive , focuses on Dakota Fanning’s Jane and her crew of Volturi vampire badasses, giving us our closest look yet at their roles in “Eclipse.” And the 40-second clip is doubly interesting because this scene does not appear in the book on which the film is based. The scene opens as the Volturi, the Italy-based royalty of the vampire world, look down upon a collection of newborn vampires sowing chaos on the city streets. These just-turned bloodsuckers were created by Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) with the express purpose of destroying Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and his family, as well as Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart). The Volturi watch the Seattle newborns feed on humans, overturn cars and generally create an atmosphere of violent chaos. “They’ve already drawn too much attention,” Demetri (Charlie Bewley) says. “So has our inaction,” Felix (Daniel Cudmore) responds. “Others may begin to question the Volturi’s effectiveness.” But the diminutive Jane is not buying this call for a show of strength. “Let them,” she says, her blood-red eyes unblinking. Felix remains unsatisfied. “Maybe we should consult with Aro,” he suggests. It’s then that we see Jane’s abilities on full display. She can inflict incapacitating pain with only her thoughts — a special ability she developed after being burned at the stake as a child. As she holds Felix using only her mind, Jane’s brother Alec (Cameron Bright) looks on. “Aro’s decisions are being watched,” she says cryptically. “Either we let them do what they were created for, or we end them. Decisions, decisions.” What do you think of this scene and its departure from Stephenie Meyer’s “Eclipse”? Share your thoughts in the comments.
