Jimmy Fallon Makes His Late Night Hosting Debut With Justin Timberlake

It must have been a nerve wrecking day last night for Jimmy Fallon as he made his late night talk show host debut. The good news is that he had awesome guests for his first night. Justin Timberlake and Robert De Niro stopped by the show which must have made things a bit easier for Fallon. It seems like Fallon got some good reviews but naturally there was some bad ones as well. A Hollywood Reporter critic said, “He tried too hard, stumbled over his punchlines and struggled to make Robert De Niro seem interesting,” who basically said that Fallon had a “typically stiff debut.” Then comes the Entertainment Weekly critic who said that, “He did an ultra-ordinary monologue — one liners about President Obama and the deficit that sounded like material Jay Leno’s writers had faxed over from L.A.” “He still looked nervous…His eyes locked onto the cue cards more frequently than at us.” Ofcourse he was a nervous, it was his first day as a late night talk show host! Let’s give the guy the break he needs because chances are he will open up and his show will be great. Did you guys watch his debut? You be our critic, what did you think? Congress schedules hearing on marine mammals in captivity

They've entertained millions at marine parks and aquariums — whales, dolphins and other sea mammals spinning and splashing to the delight of audiences for decades. But the recent death of a SeaWorld trainer by a killer whale in Orlando and the Oscar-winning documentary “The Cove,” about dolphin captures in Japan, have cast unprecedented attention on the industry that brought us Shamu and Flipper. A Congressional committee has scheduled an oversight hearing April 27 to hear testimony on marine mammals in captivity. The Sun Sentinel confirmed the hearing by the House Subcommittee on Insular Affairs, Oceans and Wildlife through federal officials who have been asked to testify. Animal welfare advocates are hoping for tighter regulation of a multibillion-dollar business that they say has profited at the expense of sea animals. “There's a whole other side to the industry that I think the public is beginning to understand,'' said Courtney Vail, a spokeswoman for the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society, which opposes keeping marine mammals in captivity. “It's not all sunshine and happiness.'' The Sun Sentinel explored the world behind marine parks in a 2004 investigative series. It found that over the previous three decades, about 1,500 sea lions, seals, dolphins and whales in marine parks had died at a young age, some from human hazards such as capture shock and ingestion of coins and foreign objects. Naomi Rose, senior scientist at the Humane Society International, said more oversight is long overdue. “If [parks] are in fact misleading people and spinning the message to improve their bottom line, that should be a real concern,'' she said. added by: jefftego

Diablo Cody: Pregnant! Married to Dan Maurio!

Diablo Cody must be updating her Facebook status like a madman. The Oscar-winning Juno screenwriter has just confirmed through her rep that she’s not only married to Dan Maurio, but pregnant with their first child! “I’m not ‘secretly married,'” Cody Tweeted in response to rumors. “I married Dan last summer. Took wedding photos in Times Square, which is pretty much the opposite of secretive.” So she just didn’t announce it. But first, she happily shared her baby news, also via Twitter. Diablo Cody is pregnant and a married woman. “Thanks for the congrats on my fetus,” she wrote. “No secrets here; just thought it would be fun to see how big I could get before someone noticed.” Dan Maurio, who works with Chelsea Handler on Chelsea Lately , doesn’t seem to mind that he’s all of a sudden been outed as Cody’s main man. “She’s a great lady to make a fetus with,” he said. Congrats on that fetus and that wedding, guys!
