Wow… Robert De Niro Reveals His Father’s Homosexuality In a new documentary film Robert De Niro is producing on the life of his deceased father, the Oscar-winning actor reveals the secret that led to his parents’ split when he was only 3 years old. Via RadarOnline : Robert De Niro says his father was gay. The legendary actor makes the personal revelation in an upcoming documentary which he “felt obligated” to make about the late artist Robert De Niro Sr., who died 21 years ago after a bout with cancer. “It was my responsibility to make a documentary about him,” the Taxi Driver star tells OUT magazine, admitting a pang of regret over the wall of silence surrounding his patriarch. “I was not aware, much, of it. I wish we had spoken about it much more — my mother didn’t want to talk about things in general, and you’re not interested when you’re a certain age.” The Cape Fear star, whose parents split when he was just 3-years-old, said he figured his father probably had inner turmoil over his sexuality, due to the social climate of his day, “being from that generation, especially from a small town upstate.” Goes to prove that Black gay men are NOT the only ones down-low living ! It’s great that De Niro is working through his own issues with the information and telling his father’s story…but if that was something he wanted hidden in life, should it be revealed in death? Nicole Kidman is 47 years old. But the Oscar-winning actress is featured in a new ad campaign for Jimmy Choo and it completes replete with the following message: I’ve still got it! Kidman is the face (and body!) of ads for that brand’s Spring/Summer 2014 shoe collection, posing here in a way described by Choo as “Nature Unleashed.” Which essentially means topless. We’re very much enjoying this ongoing trend! Check out another photo of Kidman striking a Choo-based pose now. Starting to have any regrets, Tom Cruise ?
We’re so happy for Kate and her hubby. Kate Winslet Pregnant With Third Child According to US Magazine Kate Winslet is pregnant for the third time! The Oscar-winning actress, 37, and third husband Ned Rocknroll are expecting their first child together, her rep confirms to Us Weekly. As Us exclusively revealed, Winslet secretly wed fellow Brit Ned Rocknroll — the nephew of Virgin billionaire Richard Branson — in early December of last year after about a year of dating. (Winslet’s Titanic costar Leonardo DiCaprio walked her down the aisle.) The baby-to-be will join older siblings Mia Threapleton, 12, and Joe Mendes, 9, the star’s kids with ex-husbands Jim Threapleton and director Sam Mendes. “I’ve really learned a great deal about myself, in the last four years in particular,” the Mildred Pierce actress told Harper’s Bazaar UK earlier this year. (After her highly-publicized split from American Beauty director Mendes in 2010, she rebounded with model Louis Dowler later that year, and then stepped out with Rocknroll in summer 2011; the pair both survived a devastating fire on Sir Richard Branson’s private Necker Island.) “I think I can see more clearly now – about how the pattern of past experiences has shaped who I am, and the characters I have played – and I’m grateful for that.” Hopefully, the baby will grow up to be as talented as her mommy. This guy ain’t isht. Georgia’s Republican governor has refused to endorse Wilcox, GA’s first integrated prom for one small town, claiming that he doesn’t want to take sides on the issues. Via RawStory reports : Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal (R) has refused through a spokesperson to endorse one town’s first-ever integrated high school prom, saying that he would rather not take sides on the issue. According to Atlanta’s WMAZ Channel 13, politicians from both parties have stated their support for black and white students from Wilcox, Georgia, but Deal declined to join them. Raw Story spoke to activist Bryan Long of the progressive group Better Georgia, whose group has asked Georgia elected officials “to publicly support the students of Wilcox County who are fighting to end a ‘separate-but-equal’ high school prom.” “We thought it would be nice if our elected officials would support these students,” said Long. “They’re taking a great stand in their community. We thought that officials all across the state should send a message to the nation that we’ve moved beyond the racial divisions of the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s.” He added, “We were surprised to read that the governor’s spokesperson said that he wouldn’t be ‘taking sides’ on this issue. I didn’t know that there were sides to take.” Deal spokesperson Brian Robinson told WMAZ on Thursday that Deal is refusing to endorse the integrated prom because of Better Georgia’s bipartisan initiative. “This is a leftist front group for the state Democratic party and we’re not going to lend a hand to their silly publicity stunt,” wrote Robinson. “The kids want to have an integrated prom,” said Better Georgia’s Long. “It’s the 21st Century, Gov. Deal. Get with it.” “The fact that we even have segregated proms in Georgia in 2013 is shocking all buy itself,” he said, “but to have a governor say that he doesn’t want to support the students who are trying to change that horrible tradition? That’s just cowardly.” “We really didn’t think this was going to be a divisive issue,” he concluded. “Plenty of Republicans have already come out to support the kids. So, for the governor, who’s supposedly an opinion leader in the state to just say, ‘I’ll sit this one out,’ well…I didn’t think that was possible.” Wilcox High School was integrated decades ago, but parents have put up their own money for annual private parties rather than have an integrated prom. Students created a Facebook page dedicated to hosting an integrated dance and said they were “embarrassed” that no one had done it before. When is this jerk up for re-election? We sure hope people smarten up and get rid of his azz because he’s clearly not helping the South make any progress. A video posted on YouTube by the Georgia Democratic Party in 2010 shows Deal making a litany of racially-insensitive comments, including, ”We fought against the extension of the Voting Rights Act, you may remember that”; “my wife tells me she can look at her sixth-grade class and tell which one’s going to prison and which one’s going to college”; and that he had “no idea” where President Barack Obama was born. SMH. Sounds like Will Smith is taking shots at Jamie Foxx (and Tarantino) on the low. Via Entertainment Weekly reports : When Quentin Tarantino’s western revenge-fantasy Django Unchained was first announced, casting rumors pegged Will Smith as the titular slave-turned-vigilante. But Smith, who teams with his son Jaden in this summer’s sci-fi epic After Earth, tells EW that he turned down the part because his character would’ve been second fiddle to the bounty hunter (played by Christoph Waltz) who teaches Django his trade . “Django wasn’t the lead, so it was like, I need to be the lead. The other character was the lead!” says the Men in Black star, whose departure opened the door for Jamie Foxx to play the role. Smith says that before he left the project, he even pleaded with Tarantino to let Django have a more central role in the story. “I was like, ‘No, Quentin, please, I need to kill the bad guy!’” (Ironically, Waltz was considered a supporting actor during his Oscar-winning award season, while Jamie Foxx was promoted as the movie’s lead.) But no hard feelings: Smith was a big fan of the final product. “I thought it was brilliant,” he says. “Just not for me.” Everythang ain’t for everybody, riiiiiight? Do you think Will Smith could have done a better job in ‘Django’ than Jamie Foxx? WENN
Forget any supposed fighting between Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth . The singer is in a real battle with the Carriage Operators of North America. Following Miley and her mother coming out in support of a ban against horse drawn carriages in New York City, CONA board member Tommy Doyle has fired back at the star via TMZ. Doyle insists there is no animal abuse in the industry and that the horses are “properly tended to” and “very well taken care of.” “How many times has Miley spent with working horses?” he asks. “Does she even know what a healthy horse looks like? Has she been in the barn to see these animals?” Cyrus is not the only famous person involved in this fight. Lea Michele and Alec Baldwin have expressed outrage at the carriage practice as well.
