“The fun but disquieting scenario is if that film wins and five guys in monkey masks come to the stage all saying, ‘I’m Banksy!’ Who the hell do we give it to? That’s the fun part of this job. There’s always some crazy-ass wrinkle you never thought of before.” And with that, Academy executive director Bruce Davis is plotting a “procedure” by which the elusive graffiti artist can claim his Oscar should Exit Through the Gift Shop win Best Documentary, which of course it should and it will. For starters: He’s discouraged from attending. Ha! The guy tagged the West Bank Barrier . Who can stop him? Anyway, I’m free to collect the award that night if anyone needs me, inquire within. I guess this video of James Franco rocking out while an assistant shaves him with what looks like a disposable razor is a promo for his Oscar hosting gig. According to the description, “James likes to relax with a nice shave and a song before he hosts any award shows.” Alright James, don’t you mean three weeks before you host any awards show? In any case, if you were sad that you missed Franco’s karaoke at Sundance, this will help make up for it. And his song choice is fantastic.

Actress’ rep tells People she has ‘serious concerns for her daughter’s well-being’ while in the care of ex Gabriel Aubry. By Kara Warner Halle Berry Photo: Valerie Macon/AFP/Getty Images Early Monday (January 31), it was announced that Halle Berry had dropped out of the upcoming “Valentine’s Day” sequel “New Year’s Eve” and would be replaced by Katherine Heigl . Hours later, Berry’s rep told People magazine that the Oscar winner’s departure is due to Berry’s upcoming custody battle with model ex Gabriel Aubry over their 2-year-old daughter, Nahla. “Halle has serious concerns for her daughter’s well-being while in the care of her father for any extended period of time and is prepared to take all necessary steps to protect her,” her rep told the magazine. “She has attempted to resolve these custody issues amicably with her daughter’s father, Gabriel Aubry, directly, but given his lack of cooperation, Halle has no choice but to seek swift judicial intervention.” Berry’s rep did not divulge what prompted the dispute, only that the “Frankie and Alice” actress is concerned for Nahla’s well-being. “Halle has always made the needs and safety of her daughter her first priority,” the rep added. “Both while Halle and Gabriel were a couple and since their breakup, Halle has only acted in her daughter’s best interest.” Berry and Aubry met at a Versace event in 2006 and were together for four years before splitting in April 2010. Both have seemingly moved on, with Berry reportedly dating “Dark Tide” co-star Olivier Martinez and Aubry rumored to be seeing Kim Kardashian back in the fall. ‘We’ve said all we’re going to say about the movie,’ a Facebook rep says after Academy Awards announcements. By Gil Kaufman Jesse Eisenberg in “The Social Network” Photo: Columbia Pictures The creators and cast of “The Social Network” were in major freak-out-excitement mode on Tuesday when Oscar nominations were announced. Continuing a very successful awards-season streak, the film picked up eight Academy Award nominations on Tuesday morning — making it this year’s third most-nominated Oscar contender behind “The King’s Speech” with 12 and “True Grit” with 10, and tied with “Inception.” Among the categories “The Social Network” will compete in on Oscar night next month will be Best Picture, Best Director (David Fincher), Best Actor (Jesse Eisenberg), Best Adapted Screenplay (Aaron Sorkin) and Best Score (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross). Fincher, racking up his second career nomination, said he was “very grateful and humbled” by the nods and incredibly proud of his work on the film adaptation of the story of Facebook’s founding. One person who wasn’t joining in the group hug was Facebook founder and twentysomething billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, who isn’t portrayed in the best light in the film. A representative for the site told The Hollywood Reporter , “We’ve said all we’re going to say about the movie and the books … We’ve moved on from this discussion, and we think others have, too.” While Zuckerberg wasn’t exactly up for offering any congratulations, Eisenberg said he’d heard that the Internet mogul had thought the Oscar nominee had done a “nice job” portraying him in the movie. The film depicts Zuckerberg as a ruthless social climber who founded the popular social-networking website mainly to become more popular with the ladies — an image that the Facebook starter has rejected. He’s mostly kept mum on the movie, though he did tell Oprah Winfrey in September that he took some members of his staff to see a screening. “It’s a movie, it’s fun … I can promise you, this is my life so I know it’s not that dramatic,” he said. “The last six years have been a lot of coding and focus and hard work, but maybe it would be fun to remember it as partying and all this crazy drama.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Social Network.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
