I was deeply saddened. For someone to be raped, and at only sixteen, is such a horrible tragedy! For both families involved – that of the rape victim and of the accused. I am currently reaching out to the girl’s family to let her know that I am deeply sorry for what was written in the Rolling Stone article. What was written – what I supposedly said – is insensitive and hurtful, and I by no means would say or insinuate that she was at all to blame. I have fought all of my career for women’s equality, women’s equal rights, respect in their fields – anything I could do to support women I have done. My prayers and support always goes out to the rape victim. In this case, most especially, to an innocent sixteen year old child.” Serena Williams just needs to win tennis matches and STFU! “The Bronx Bombers” has a whole new meaning now… Study Shows That The Bronx Has Highest Rate Of STDs In NYC Via NYDailyNews Here’s one neighborhood where you definitely shouldn’t have unprotected sex, share a needle or stand next to someone coughing. The 10457 ZIP code in the Bronx — which includes Tremont, portions of Crotona, Belmont and Claremont — has the highest number of people afflicted by two of the following conditions: HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia and tuberculosis, according to the Department of Health. All seven diseases are epidemic in 10457, with infection rates for all conditions in the top 20% of cases citywide. It’s not just a 10457 problem. In fact, the Bronx has the highest number of ZIP codes — 70% — where residents are in the top 20% for at least two diseases. In Manhattan, 45% of ZIP codes have two-disease rates in the top 20%, compared to 25% of Queens ZIPs and 22% in Brooklyn. “It’s very disturbing, especially for our community,” Tom Murray, director of community affairs for St. Barnabas Hospital and the chairman of Community Board 6’s Health and Human Services Committee. “The teenagers are engaging in very risky behavior. They think AIDS is a thing of the past.” What is it about the B-X that is contributing to sick meat sticks and poisonous boxes??? The ZIP code’s high poverty rate contributes to the disproportionate number battling two or more serious diseases. Roughly 70,000 people live in the 10457 ZIP code and the median household income is $24,537. Some 43% of Tremont/Crotona residents live below the poverty line compared a poverty rate of 21% citywide. “While this is a disappointment, it’s not a surprise,” said Community Board 6 District Manager Ivine Galarza. Residents blamed officials. “I’m afraid,” said Yolanda Smith, 32, said. “The government needs to do something about it.” Juan Santos, 63, a disabled veteran, called for more activities and education for young people. “The main problem with venereal disease is a lack of information,” he said. “We have a lot of billboards about cigarettes and beer. Sign might as well say: “No Chief Keefs Allowed!” Jersey Shore Mayor Proposes Ban On Sagging Pants Via ABCNews It’s the Jersey Shore, no doubt, but Wildwood’s mayor doesn’t want the stereotypes that come along with it. And saggy pants, he said, do nothing but perpetuate the negative stereotypes that come with a summer “down the shore.” That’s why the mayor of Wildwood, N.J., is leading the charge on a saggy pants ban on the beach town’s boardwalk. “Their whole rear ends are sticking out,” Mayor Ernie Troiano Jr. said. “These kids have no respect for anyone including themselves.” There was no one event that led to the proposed ban, he said, rather a long line of complaints from people who were tired of seeing people’s underwear hanging out of their pants. “People kept asking what I was going to do about it,” he said. Locals are “extremely offended” by the saggy pants. “We welcome everyone here, we don’t discriminate against anyone,” he said. “But what about my rights not to have to see your rear end?” The vote on the ban, which the mayor said he is “99.9 percent sure” will succeed, takes place June 12. It will take 20 days to become law. So how will the local Po-9 enforce the new law if it passes? On the 21st day, he said, police will begin “politely asking” people to hike up their pants. “It’s not a hit squad,” he said. “There’s no Gestapo running up and down the boardwalk looking for offenders.” If they don’t comply, Troiano said, they will be asked to leave the boardwalk. If they become belligerent they will get a ticket. That’s it?? We’re not against encouraging these young dirt-ball ninjas to get their lives together, but you’re going to have to do better than a ticket and a stern warning to make ‘em pull up their True Religions. Iggy Azalea Denies Dissing Nicki Minaj In what could be considered a very bold move on her part, Iggy Azalea allegedly put Nicki Minaj ’s album ‘Pink Friday’ on blast describing her album as “very rigid.” Via MTV Australia reports: The Aussie rapper voiced her opinion on the album in an interview with Digital Spy, explaining that while she liked that the ‘American Idol’ judge had included both rap and pop tracks on the record, she didn’t think the feel of the album was dynamic enough. “She definitely had both sides but I think hers was – I don’t wanna be mean to her because I’m not being mean – but I don’t think that it was dynamic,” she dished. “I could see both sides and I’m not saying it has to be that way, but it was very rigid in the way that it flipped between the two [sounds]. I like to make the music flow like a river – I’m like, ‘You have to listen to the album from track one to ten!’” Meanwhile, Iggy took to Twitter to say she was misquoted when appearing to criticise Nicki Minaj. Taking exception to a story reported by Digital Spy, Azalea tweeted: ‘FYI.
