Why does 2006 feel like two years ago? As I wonder where the last decade went, the rest of you can mark your calendars, because MTV is premiering a 10th anniversary special of The Hills , which starred Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port. “Today is the 10th anniversary of The Hills! I am excited to announce that @MTV will premiere an anniversary special with me on Tuesday 8/2,” Conrad tweeted. The lifestyle expert also wrote a post on her site about the special, titled The Hills: That Was Then, This is Now , which featured an image of her fixing the hem of a dress as a cameraman lingered behind. “Ten years ago, The Hills aired on MTV for the first time. (That’s right people, it’s been ten whole years! Can we all feel old together, please?),” she wrote, adding that she had done something she hadn’t done “in over a decade.” She sat down and watched the pilot. “It was odd watching all of us just starting out, with no idea what the future held (although, no one really could have prepared us for what the next few years would bring). “Looking back, I am grateful for the incredible opportunity we were given to take part in this show. “While it was hard at times to share my personal life (poor makeup choices and all) with the world; the experience taught me so much and forever altered my life and my outlook for the better. I am so proud of the show.” Conrad thanked production for a show that documented (and, she admitted, created) the ups and down in her life. “As hard as it is to look back (other than watching the pilot, I haven’t watched any episodes since they first aired), it brings me a lot of joy to see that now, despite all the challenges we faced together back then, each of us seems to have found what we were looking for. ” Conrad will dedicate the MTV special to the fans, whom she thanked for being there from the beginning We will be having an honest conversation about what it was really like living with cameras for so many years (spoiler alert: it was super weird), sharing some behind-the-scene secrets, and showing some of my life today,” she wrote. “And since this is all for you, please let me know below if there are any questions you have or if there is anything you would like to see addressed. Because Abby Lee is so good at turning the other cheek. In any case, do you think she'll be able to pull it together for the sake of her girls? If last season is any indication, the outlook is hazy. Her championship days may be behind her, as she's both a hot mess and a reality star with delusions of grandeur, trying to juggle too much. Lisa Rinna feels that way too, but for some reason, she can’t stop talking about it! It’s been more than two weeks since the Lisa vs.Kim Richards brawl first aired (and it’s been several months since it actually happened), but Lisa took to her Bravo blog yet again today to clear things for roughly the 4 billionth time. You may recall that the situation heated up because of Kim spreading rumors that Harry Hamlin is cheating on Lisa . Despite having already made her thoughts on that topic quite clear (via an airborne glass of wine) Lisa chose to write about it again today: “Kim has still not apologized for her uncalled for behavior toward my husband,” Lisa writes. “I do still have a lot to process and a lot has been left unresolved.” Despite her obvious ill will toward Kim, Lisa says she still wants to assist the other women in staging an intervention for her. Vicki Gunvalson and Brooks Ayers are very much back together, but his health prospects are much more up in the air than their romantic status. The Real Housewives of Orange County stars have been living together as Brooks battles cancer , but he tells Radar that the arduous battle continues. According to Brooks, chemotherapy treatments to treat his “aggressive” cancer (Stage 3 Non-Hodgkins lymphoma) don’t seem to be having any effect. “I am sick,” Ayers, who has battled the illness since 2013, admitted. “I do feel bad, but it’s mind over matter a lot of times. You gotta stay the course.” Six months of chemotherapy and a largely liquid-based diet later, Gunvalson’s live-in boyfriend says he was hoping things would have improved by now. “When the test results came back, the numbers haven’t changed substantially,” he revealed. “They haven’t gotten worse, but they haven’t gotten better.” “That was kind of disheartening, to be honest with you.” “ I’m not so sure my body is responding to chemotherapy ,” he admitted. “At least the cocktail that I was doing. I’m not sure it responded like it needed to.” Ayers says he’s faced with three options, starting with an “aggressive form of chemotherapy” that would mean 3-4 days a week of treatment for months. It’s that, an experimental stem cell transplant, or a holistic approach, which one of their Real Housewives of Orange County co-stars is helping him with. “Shannon Beador’s been very much in our corner, putting us in contact with a lot of unbelievable world-renowned holistic physicians,” he said. “We’re exploring that and with that would come no chemo. It would be addressing and taking what I’ve been doing with the holistic diet and an infrared sauna.” “It’s just assessing what my mentality, my body responds to and it’s been quite a daunting mental task,” the reality star admits, but he still has Vicki. That, more than anything, gets him through the day these days. “She keeps me up and going and it’s been good rather than just routine, monotonous life. That’s not what we’re about. He says he will be back on the show, and is excited for it. Groundhog Day 2014 is upon us at last, ladies and gentlemen. Thousands braved winter weather conditions last night and this morning to be there in the Weather Capitol of the World, a.k.a. Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. The occasion? That magical moment when Punxsutawney Phil emerges from Gobbler’s Knob, and with the help of his handlers, answers the million-dollar question: Will we have to endure six more weeks of snow, wind, ice cold before spring arrives? Or will our reprieve come sooner? Only Phil and his shadow can say with clarity. And he has done so, just moments ago. The verdict: SHADOW! Winter will continue! Punxsutawney Phil , who emerged from his burrow moments ago to find conditions just bright enough to spot a shadow in Western Pa., has officially spoken. The appearance of Phil’s shadow means winter will extend six more weeks, according to folklore. Had Phil seen his shadow, it would have come sooner. He has now seen his shadow an even 100 times and not seen it just 17 times since 1887 (the math is off due to years of missing records, apparently). So will the great prognosticator be vindicated by a February/March that match his outlook, unlike the “early spring” debacle that got him sued last year? Debatable at best. But the accuracy of the venerable rodent meteorologist’s prediction is secondary, of course, to the real purpose of Groundhog Day. It’s basically just a silly excuse to get out in the elements and submit to the wondrous power, mystery and majesty of nature (or just stay up all night drinking). It’s also the obligatory time of year that you get to recite Groundhog Day quotes . That movie seems to get more hilarious with each passing year somehow. Finally, it’s the first Groundhog Day EVER to fall on Super Bowl Sunday, so that’s cool. The forecast for the big game? Overcast and in the 40s.
For one reality star, the rumors are now a, well, reality. Following last night’s Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion , Caroline Manzo took to Twiter and confirmed that she’s leaving the franchise. Caroline Manzo Versus Teresa Giudice! “It’s been wonderful guys,” Manzo wrote. “I’ve decided to leave #RHONJ this season was my last. Love and kisses to you all. xoxoxo.” Rumors of Caroline’s departure first cropped up in September, but it’s not as if she’s saying goodbye to Bravo viewers: the network has signed Manzo to a spinoff hilariously titled Manzo’d with Children . But Manzo insists she isn’t leaving for her own fortune or fame. This move is all about integrity. “Over the past few years my outlook on the show has changed from something I couldn’t wait to show my future grandchildren to something I hope my future grandchildren never see,” she blogged, later adding: “For me, peace and integrity cannot be bought with money or fame… I simply feel that my role has run its course and I have nothing more to give.” Manzo was one of the program’s original cast members and will likely be missed by many viewers.
