I build most of my collaborations off of just the relationships that I’ve built with these guys over the years and then new relationships, like Justin Bieber.” Brown told MTV News that it was awesome getting Bieber on board for “Next 2 You.” Brown became interested in featuring the teen star on his album after the duo worked on the remix to Bieber’s track “Up,” which was featured on Never Say Never – The Remixes . “Being able to collab with [Bieber] was great,” Brown said. “He’s a young, energetic cat, so being able to work with him, with the fanbase he has, was incredible. Meredith Baxter Says David Birney Abused Her

Having come out as a lesbian in December 2009 on Today, Meredith Baxter returned to the NBC program to make another announcement Tuesday: She was a victim of domestic violence. Baxter, best known as the mom on Family Ties, alleged her ex-husband and Bridget Loves Birney co-star, David Birney, abused her in their marriage. When asked why she stayed with Birney, who denies the allegations, Baxter replied, “I didn’t know I had a choice. I didn’t know I could go.” She adds that Birney purposefully set his sights on her . “He’s not going to pick someone who’s on top of themselves and who’s confident and aggressive,” she said. “For him to be who he needed to be, it needed to be someone who was mousy and quiet and retiring, and that’s what I was.” The 63-year-old Baxter said she was able to keep this and other personal problems a secret from the stars she worked with over the years. “You learn to compartmentalize. As soon as I got to the studio, my home life was not happening,” she recalled. “I never talked about it.” “No one knew anything.” Baxter, who has three kids with Birney, said she eventually “had to change my thinking” because “I didn’t want to be a victim” anymore.

Britney Spears Makes Your Body Pop On Femme Fatale Teaser

Producer Dr. Luke gives fans a snippet of ‘How I Roll’ from Brit’s March 29 album. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale Photo: Jive Judging by the snippets we’ve heard from Femme Fatale, Britney Spears is ready to dance. Late Wednesday night, Spears’ producer Dr. Luke tweeted out another tease for the track “How I Roll.” “I just might be feeling like giving u another snippet ….. maybe,” Luke wrote. “Should it be a [producers] bloodshy and avant song??? something like that,” he added before sending a link to the song. The teaser opens with Britney cooing “ooh ahh” as beats and synths kick in. Those are jumbled with handclaps before Spears begins singing lines like, “Show your knee socks/ With tequila on the rocks/ Till you make your body pop/ To the speakers.” “In my opinion, this is her strongest album ever. It’s somewhat of a departure from what she’s done. It’s more mature,” manager Larry Rudolph told MTV News about Femme Fatale, which he even likened to a Madonna classic. “It’s more of a dance record. … This really is Britney’s Ray of Light album.” Spears herself has hinted that the album will have fans dancing. “I would describe it as moody, edgy pop with A LOT of energy. I co-wrote a couple of songs. I think it’s some of the best work I have ever done. There are a few mid-tempos that could be considered ballads,” Spears said during a Twitter Q&A this month. “I have a lot of history with #MaxMartin and @TheDoctorLuke so it’s always fun to collaborate with them,” she continued. “They make such incredible music. I’m so excited and I can’t wait for you guys to hear it. I think its some of the best work I have ever done!” What do you think of what you’ve heard so far from “How I Roll”? Tell us in the comments! ‘Hall Pass’ Stars Recall Best And Worst Pickup Lines

Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis and Jenna Fischer quip about some memorable dating experiences with MTV News. By Kara Warner Jason Sudeikis and Owen Wilson in “Hall Pass” Photo: New Line Cinema Those who have seen the trailer for Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis’ new comedy, “Hall Pass,” know that in the Farrelly brothers-directed film, the duo embark upon a series of zany misadventures after obtaining “hall passes” — basically a one-week vacation/break from their marriages — from their wives. During this marital hiatus, the boys do everything they can to pick up women, oftentimes using the most outlandish and ridiculous of pickup lines. When MTV News caught up with Wilson, Sudeikis and fellow co-star Jenna Fischer recently during the film’s press day, we asked them to share their go-to lines, as well as a few they’ve used with success. “Hi, I’m Jason Sudeikis,” Wilson quipped, which prompted a witty exchange between him and the “Saturday Night Live” star. “Aw, that’s very nice of you,” Sudeikis said. “Does that work for you?” “Yeah!” Wilson exclaimed, laughing. And then Sudeikis focused a bit, seeming to put some thought into the question, only to make room for more for Wilson laughter and more back-and-forth banter between the two. “My most successful one is, ‘How much do you cost?’ ” Sudeikis joked. “And you have to use that specifically.” “Hold that for Valentine’s Day,” Wilson advised, even though Sudeikis clearly wasn’t paying attention and went on with reciting bad pickup techniques. ” ‘Are those real?’ ” Sudeikis said. ” ‘Your eyes. I’m talking about your dreams.’ ” ” ‘Are they realistic?’ ” Wilson added. Fine, fine. If they won’t take the question seriously then we won’t. Next up, a few of the best and worst pickup lines the fellow castmembers have heard over the years. “Usually women will insult me,” Sudeikis explained. ” ‘I don’t see why you’re so great.’ And then, for some reason, I find that completely alluring.” “Ok, I’m going to win you over!” Wilson added. “Ok, sit right here. Settle in for the next hour or three — here we go,” he joked. Following with the theme of insults as pickup lines, Jenna Fischer recalled a particular unsettling experience. “I had this guy come up to me at a bar when I was much younger and he had said, ‘I bet I can guess your weight and if I do, can I get a kiss?’ And I thought to myself, ‘What?! No! What woman wants to talk about her weight? What if you’re wrong? What if you’re right? I don’t care, anyway,’ ” she said. “The idea that you just approached me with the most objectified vision of me, you whittled me down to a number, was so offensive.” Needless to say, Fischer was not particularly receptive to that line. “He did not get a kiss,” she added. Eminem, Lil Wayne’s Bonnaroo Gig Continues Hip-Hop’s Long Festival History

From early Lollapalooza to this year’s Coachella, hip-hop has always had a place at major U.S. music gatherings. By Gil Kaufman Eminem Photo: John Shearer/ WireImage American music fans had to chuckle back in 2008, when former Oasis co-founder Noel Gallagher raised a giant stink about Jay-Z headlining the venerable Glastonbury Festival. Honestly? Hip-hop doesn’t belong at big festivals? C’mon, Noel. Well, we’ll see how much water that big cup of righteous indignation holds in the next few days as fans of Tennessee’s Bonnaroo Festival weigh in on the news that not one, but two hip-hop legends — Eminem and Lil Wayne — will top a bill that features a dozen other rappers sprinkled in among the usual cadre of jam-friendly acts indie faves and the usual classic rock big fish. While Bonnaroo’s organizers have long shunned the “jam-band” festival tag, the annual steamy gathering on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee, has hosted its fair share of noodle-tastic talent over the years. But with the booking of arguably two of the three biggest live hip-hop draws on the planet (the third, Jay-Z, played there last year ), clearly the ‘Roo is going all-in on rap in 2011. Further down the list, this year’s fest will also have sets from Atmosphere, Wiz Khalifa and Chiddy Bang. But from its very first lineup, Bonnaroo has supported rap, booking such indie groups as Blackalicious and Jurassic 5, adding in more over the years, mostly of the variety that appeal to its core audience, including RJD2, frequent guests the Roots, Common, Cypress Hill, El-P and Aesop Rock, and in 2008, Kanye West, M.I.A. and Lupe Fiasco. Though they’ve always had a place on the bill, rappers began to have a bigger presence by 2009, with the addition of Murs, the Knux, the Beastie Boys and Snoop Dogg. Then again, in 2010, even with Jay on the roster, last year’s lineup had rappers in mostly support roles, with Wale, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Jay Electronica, Kid Cudi and B.o.B hitting smaller stages. With a few exceptions, that’s been the norm at the country’s major festivals: many of the same hip-hop stars playing on the main stage, with a predictable roster of up-and-coming and established hipster acts on the side stages, though never a critical mass of either outside of purely rap-oriented events. Hip-hop has long had a headline and side stage presence at Lollapalooza with 1991’s inaugural outing featuring Ice T & Body Count, followed by Ice Cube, Basehead, Cypress Hill, House of Pain and Boo-Ya T.R.I.B.E. (1992), Arrested Development, Rage Against the Machine (1993), Beastie Boys, A Tribe Called Quest, Fu-Schnickens and Pharcyde (1994) and Cypress Hill, Coolio, Pharcyde and the Roots (1995). In later years, the festival invited Wu-Tang Clan, Snoop Dogg and Jurassic 5 before taking a hiatus. When it returned in 2005, there was a modest slate of hip-hop, but by 2006, the list grew to include Common, Kanye, Lady Sovereign, Lyrics Born and Blackalicious. In the years since, the granddaddy of alt festivals in the U.S. has hosted Lupe Fiasco, the Roots, Rhymefest, Kid Sister, K’naan, Snoop, B.o.B. and (again) Cyprus Hill. The reported roster for Lollapalooza in 2011 also features a headlining set from Eminem. Since 1999, the third big daddy American festival, California’s Coachella gathering has followed a similar path by working in college-friendly acts like Rahzel, Q-Bert, Mixmaster Mike, Kool Keith and Kid Koala into a dance- and indie-based talent lineup. It too has tapped a familiar group over the years, including: Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Gangstarr, Mos Def, Jurassic 5, KRS-One, Pharcyde, Dilated Peoples, Beastie Boys, N.E.R.D., Mr. Lif, Eyedea and Abilities, Danger Mouse, Sage Francis, Jean Grae, k-os, Black Star, Kanye, Lyrics Born, Ghostface Killah, Diplo, N.A.S.A., and in 2010, Jay-Z, Street Sweeper Social Club, Die Antwoord, Major Lazer and the Glitch Mob. This year’s Coachella will feature a thinner rap selection, including Lauryn Hill, Duck Sauce, Kanye, Nas & Damian Marley and Wiz Khalifa.
