Lena Dunham to Instagram: Get Down With the Nipple!

Girls star and creator Lena Dunham wants Instagram to “get down with the nipple.” In other words, quit censoring/blocking breastfeeding photos. She kept friend and new mom Sarah Sophie Flicker’s breast covered up with a tasteful daisy to abide by Instagram’s no nudity rules, but not by choice. Dunham made it clear that she didn’t like having to do it. “My @sarahsophief feeding the brand new Dusty. I made the flower crown and she added the flower censor. Wish she didn’t have to cuz the nipple is dope,” she wrote. “Instagram, get down with the nipple.” Flicker, a performer and director with The Citizens Band, shared the photo on her own feed with a similar sentiment: “Found the best breast feeding get up.” “@lindseythornburg dress. Crown & photo by the talented @lenadunham. Flower censor by me due to instagram’s super lame blocking of the breast feeding ladies.” Instagram community standards do indeed say nudity is grounds for removal, but the photo sharing site claims that breastfeeding photos are allowed. In June, after online breastfeeding community The Leaky Boob’s account was suspended, they actually apologized for what they called an error. “When our team processes reports, we occasionally make a mistake,” a representative said, though it happens enough that many moms are frustrated. Lena Dunham Breastfeeding Instagram Activists seeking to normalize breastfeeding in public and online have become increasingly frustrated with social media platforms removing such images. Jessica Martin-Weber who runs The Leaky Boob, started a Facebook group called “Instagram, stop discriminating against breastfeeding mothers and babies.” Fans of Amy Woodruff (also known as Naked Yoga Breastfeeding Mom ) started a #savedaughterofthesun campaign after her account was disabled. Ashlee Wells Jackson created the viral ” 4th Trimester Bodies Project ” highlighting what real moms’ bodies look like after childbirth called for changes. Her Instagram account was deactivated, and she was blocked from posting photos on Facebook for 30 days, so she created a petition on Change.org. Dunham, as her fans know, is a fan of nakedness. Now she’s lending her support for others’ right to show just a little bit online for a good cause. Kate Middleton and Prince William Select Prince George Godparents: Who’d They Pick?

Kate Middleton and Prince William have named three godparents for their newborn baby Prince George, and their choices are a break from tradition. Bypassing Prince Harry, Pippa Middleton, and the usual royal suspects, Will and Kate instead tapped three old friends from childhood and college: Fergus Boyd, a friend from the University of St. Andrews Emilia d’Erlanger, a long-term friend of Prince William who also has known Kate Middleton since their time at Marlborough College Hugh van Cutsem, one of his oldest childhood pals No other members of the royal family have ever selected as godparents friends who didn’t have royal ties. William and Kate: They’re just like us! There’s talk, however, that George will have six godparents in all, meaning Prince Harry, Pippa Middleton and James Middleton still stand a good chance. Still, pretty cool move on the royals’ part as usual. A godparent is supposed to serve as a spiritual guide for a child, as well as a caretaker in the event that something happens to the child’s parents. It can be a huge responsibility, especially to parents who choose to baptize their babies and who take the selection of a godparent very seriously. William and Kate are very close to their siblings, so this isn’t a snub. As we said, they may end up as godparents as well. But either way, it’s interesting. Kris Jenner: Happier Without Bruce Jenner!

Do not cry for Kris Jenner, readers. Kris Jenner certainly isn’t crying for Kris Jenner. In the wake of her confirmed separation from Bruce Jenner , the reality star talked to People and said there wasn’t one thing in particular that brought the marriage to a halt. Kris Jenner: Happier Without Bruce! “I just think it has evolved,” Kris said . “I really can’t put my finger on it. We’re just happier now.” This is the same sentiment echoed by multiple members of the family. Rob Kardashian says no bad blood exists between the Jenners or Kardashians and Bruce Jenner says he’s doing great. Both sides also say there are no plans for a divorce. Kris and Bruce married in 1991, but the latter has been staying at his home in Malibu often over the past year or so. “There was definitely a shift in the way we treated each other,” Kris says. “We will always be the best of friends, because that’s the dynamic of our relationship. We definitely get along as a family and with the kids; we’re so connected in that way. We love each other.” And both will appear on Keeping Up with the Kardashians Season 9 as well, with various sources saying their separation will be a major plot point on the series. Kris adds she’s thankful she no longer has to keep her marital status a secret, concluding that everything is now out in the open and everyone is getting along very well. “It’s a very wonderful dynamic. It’s just not something that’s real negative and nasty. I love really hard, and the people that I have in my life that I love will always be in my life forever. It’s ultimately like one big happy family.”

In honor of Throwback Thursday, here’s a look at one of our favorite viral videos in recent memory, a time lapse documenting the happenings of a father and son. While mom is away at work … this is what goes on: Dad-Toddler Time Lapse Emio Tomeoni of Kansas City shot this amazing time lapse video to show his wife, Stephanie Ramos, what she misses while she’s at the office. The video condenses several hours into mere minutes. In typical toddler fashion, what begins with a clean living room quickly devolves into utter chaos. Diapers, toys, bongos, food … mom, you missed out! For better or worse? We’ll leave that up to you to say.

Mary Jane Jarman, Mom Jogging With Stroller, Fights Off Attacker With Bike Pump

Mary Jane Jarman, a mom jogging with her eight-month-old son in a stroller in New York City, fought off a would-be attacker with a bike pump last Friday. Mom Fights Off Attacker With Bike Pump The 33-year-old was jogging on the Hudson River Greenway near Manhattan’s Henry Hudson Parkway and 190th Street when she was accosted. A strange man jumped out from a behind a wall holding a broken glass bottle, she recalled, and menacingly telling her to “Come here, come here.” Jarman began to run for her life, making it about 100 yards down the path before he grabbed her in a bear hug and took her down to the ground. Her baby stroller was knocked over in the process, but Jarman fought back. After hitting him over the head with the tire pump, she sent him packing. “I started screaming, trying to attract attention. He came at me,” said Jarman, after speaking to police detectives at the 34th Precinct station house. Jarman said she managed to struggle free and reached for a hand-held bike pump she had in the stroller, bashing the attacker over the head 2-3 times. Hard, it sounds like. “I kept hitting him,” she said, showing the shattered pieces of what remained of the black and silver metal bike pump, which she brings “to defend myself.” The mother of two said her first thought was to protect her 8-month old son, Thane, who lay silent in the stroller beside her during the terrifying attack. “I was protecting him with my life,” she said. Jarman said the man “didn’t try to get my phone” or anything else. “His sole intent was to hurt me.” Jarman said after she beat the man repeatedly, he released her and retreated, telling her in broken English, “I’m really sorry, I’m sick,” she said. The man fled, leaving her shaken and alone. She said she called 911 repeatedly, but the calls kept dropping in the thickly wooded area. She finally flagged down a biker on the path, who helped her. Police said they are searching for the attacker, while the jogging enthisiast and mom says the incident left her afraid to use the path home again. “I’m going to take a different route,” Jarman said . Some pepper spray might be a good idea too.

Facebook may print money for Mark Zuckerberg and his cohorts, but as far as popularity among younger users go, it’s seen some declines of late. Once the hip, cutting-edge social network for college kids and teens, the Facebook has become more of a forum for moms, dads and even grandparents. Using it to embarrass their family members, intentionally or not, the older folks are driving away the site’s initial users – often in hilarious fashion, at least. If you’re wondering why “kids these days” prefer Instagram, Vine, Tumblr and SnapChat over Facebook, it might be because of status updates like this … Very well played, dad. Father figures are always there to keep you in line with a smart-ass comment … or by recreating your douchey selfies: Sometimes parents these days even overstep and use Facebook to gossip about their own children to their friends and meddle even more overtly: Usually, of course, it’s a bit more subtle. Can a girl not subtly remark on Taylor Swift ‘s profound lyrics without her mom creeping? Come ON, mom … If there’s any saving grace, it’s that they may not catch on to what you’re saying. This parent, fortunately (for everyone) has clearly not seen Jersey Shore :

Losing her cheating husband Eddie Cibrian to mistress LeAnn Rimes was one thing for Brandi Glanville. Seeing Rimes with her two sons is another entirely. Being exposed to shared photos of Mason, 9, and Jake, 5, with their stepmom is “the worst pain you could ever imagine,” she tells Bethenny Frankel. “You think your heart has been broken after you get a divorce? Wait until there is a girl tweeting pictures of, ‘Oh, look at my family.’ You have no idea.” “I feel like she almost does it to antagonize me, but at this point I’ve accepted it,” Brandi Glanville vented to Frankel on her talk show Bethenny . “It took me awhile, but Xanax was my friend when that started happening,” she adds. “I was like, ‘You can have the man, but those are my babies.'” Glanville and Cibrian, both 40, pulled the plug on their seven-year union in 2009 in the wake of his affair with Rimes (who was also married at the time). The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Glanville and Rimes, 31, have engaged in numerous Twitter wars and feuds of moderate intensity in recent years. She does say there is one important silver lining to all of this, though. “You know, I think [Eddie Cibrian] has actually become a much better father through divorce,” she said. “Because when we were together, he wasn’t home a lot.” “He didn’t spend a ton of time with the kids, and now he’s really present. That’s the one positive I take away from it because the rest freaking sucks.” Most recently, LeAnn Rimes (below) seemed to call attention to the feud for kind of no reason. We know Selena Gomez likes to be pumped by Justin Bieber. But the singer made it obvious this week: do not pump her for information about Justin Bieber ! Selena gave an interview this week to Chicago’s WGN, presumably to promote her new album. But the host continually peppered Gomez with questions about Bieber, asking if there’s “something about him that we don’t get or we don’t understand” based on his recent “outrageous” behavior. In response… Gomez gave no response! She walked off on her end of the video feed and the screen cut to black. Aubrey Plaza in Fake Daria Movie Trailer: Someone Call Kickstarter!

Daria is back! Well, sort of. Aubrey Plaza, the cartoon’s real life counterpart did a fake trailer for the fake film that undoubtedly everyone in the universe wants to really happen. Aubrey Plaza in Daria Movie Trailer There’s just something about Plaza’s deadpan delivery that fully captures Daria’s sense of ennui. This trailer, centered around Daria’s high school reunion , seems to have everything. Daria’s sister Quinn who is, of course, still the queen bee. Her best friend Jane Lane and older brother Trent Lane with his band Mystik Spiral. Even her self-absorbed father has a mini-breakdown very reminiscent of the MTV cartoon.  The only thing missing was the Trentmobile but one would have to imagine that even it finally died in the ten years that have passed. Will someone please make this movie? Pretty please? Surely this would be a better use of crowdfunding than Lindsay Lohan’s  The Canyons  or  Spike Lee’s Kickstarter ?
