French-Canadian director Jean-Marc Valée won multiple festival nods for his 2005 feature C.R.A.Z.Y. and followed it up in 2009 with The Young Victoria , also taking home prizes and his latest Café de Flore also scored around the festival circuit. Adopt Films will release the romantic-drama Stateside in November and released a second U.S. trailer. Seemingly disconnected by both time and geography, Café de Flore nevertheless unites a young mother with a disabled son living in 1960s Paris and Antoine, a recently divorced and successful DJ in contemporary Montreal. The new trailer follows below the plot below… Plot synopsis: In 1960s Paris, a working class woman gives birth to her first child, Laurent – a Down Syndrome son. Undaunted she embraces the challenge of raising her beloved offspring as normally as one would any other child. Her husband abandons them both. She bravely brushes this additional hiccup aside as Laurent replaces her spouse as the perfect man of her dreams. As Laurent approaches school age Jacqueline’s aplomb becomes obsessive and cloying. Kristen Stewart has found a role that won’t involve any awkward off-set drama. At least we hope. The actress has reportedly beaten out Jennifer Lawrence for the lead in Lie Down In Darkness , a big screen version of William Styron’s 1951 novel. Set in that same decade, the story will find Stewart portraying Peyton Loftis, a member of a dysfunctional family who becomes the target of her mother’s jealous hatred and her father’s alcoholic, incestuous lust. Ewwww. Other movie news is a lot more awkward for Stewart these days: She’s schedule to promote Breaking Dawn Part 2 in the fall… alongside a young man who is currently a mess as a result of her cheating actions. She’s also attached to a Snow White and the Huntsman sequel… possibly opposite a director with whom she engaged in an affair and who has since been barred from contact with Stewart . It should be interesting to note the career arc of Kristen going forward. How much will this sordid deed affect her on-screen future? It’s early, but if this role nabbing is any indication, the answer is a resounding: in no way at all.

The Jackson family turmoil appears to be simmering down as matriarch Katherine Jackson was reinstated as a guardian of her grandchildren today. The news comes less than 24 hours after Jermaine Jackson put forth an “olive branch” and backed off his challenge to late brother Michael’s will. At a hearing Thursday, Judge Mitchell Beckloff said Katherine was doing a “wonderful job” with MJ’s kids, Prince, 15, Paris, 14, and Blanket, 10. “It’s clear that the children are well cared for by Mrs. Jackson,” he said, according to the L.A. Times . “It is clear to me they love her very much.” The judge also said that the kids’ cousin T.J. Jackson , 34, who was named temporary guardian at an earlier emergency hearing, would remain so. The ruling came after MJ’s brother Jermaine said he had withdrawn his signature from a letter calling Michael’s will “fake, flawed and fraudulent.” Jermaine, Tito, Rebbie, Randy and Janet Jackson accused the executors of the estate of mismanagement and possibly harming Katherine Jackson. Relations haven’t thawed entirely, however. In a court declaration, Katherine seems to suggest she was tricked into traveling to Arizona last month. There, she claims she was blocked from communicating with Prince, Paris, and Blanket – implying there was a coup to strip her of guardianship. Katherine claims she was set to go on a road trip to New Mexico to watch her sons’ concert, until an unnamed doctor told her it was better to fly instead. Katherine says she obliged, believing the doctor was under the orders of her longtime physician, but when she got off the plane, found herself in Tucson. Arizona. According to her lawyer, “Her children took her to a spa … because she had high blood pressure.” She says her phone and iPad were taken away, her in-room telephone was disconnected and TV was also shut off. When Katherine asked about the grandchildren, she was told “they were fine” and there was nothing to worry about. She says she did not know she had been reported missing and her grandkids were freaking out. The declaration contradicts her earlier claims calling the Arizona trip a brief vacation, but surprisingly doesn’t sound so unbelievable in the context of everything that’s transpired in the last several weeks.
When Steven Tyler departed American Idol last month, he said in a statement that he “loved every minute” of the experience. But in a new Rolling Stone interview, the rocker sounds a very different tune. “It was something to do while the storm blew by, to be honest,” Tyler tells the magazine, adding that he joined the panel mainly due to spats with his Aerosmith bandmates at the time. Once he was actually on board, the singer says Idol just was “not [his] cup of tea.” Tyler has nothing negative to say about Randy Jackson or Jennifer Lopez – or about taking home $10 million per year, we’re guessing – but he really didn’t enjoy criticizing aspiring artists. “The show’s about kids and what you do to nurture their talent,” he said. “They wanted me to take the piss out of the kids and I don’t have that in me. Jermaine Jackson, one of the main players in the family revolt against the Michael Jackson Estate, has officially defected from the rebellion … mostly. While he has “deep reservations” about their conduct, Jermaine is bowing out of official efforts to challenge the power of his late brother’s executors. “I rescind my signature from the letter which was sent to the Estate, and which should never have gone public,” Jermaine Tweeted Wednesday. “I still hold deep reservations about many issues involving the Estate,” he adds. “I will continue to bring scrutiny and a resolute voice wherever we have great cause for concern. But the way to address such matters is through the proper channels and via a private dialogue, not public conflict.” “In this spirit, I offer this statement by way of extending an olive-branch.” That would be long overdue, following their apparent coup attempt to wrest guardianship of Michael’s kids away from their grandmother and guardian. Jermaine and Tito are no longer backing the family’s bid to oust the executors, who they even suggested are actively mistreating Katherine Jackson . The signatures of Janet Jackson – who was accused of a physical and verbal altercation with Paris Jackson – Rebbie, and Randy remain on the letter.
