‘She’s Raising Black Kids’ Nate Parker Defends His Sweet Swirly Marriage To His Wife

“She reads the books I give her…”— Nate Parker  Nate Parker Defends Being Married To A Non-Black Woman Embattled director Nate Parker recently addressed criticism he’s received for being married to his wife. The “Birth Of A Nation” director who’s fielding serious condemnation after his 1999 rape acquittal case resurfaced , made a point to defend his marriage at a movie screening. Just a few days ago, Parker addressed a crowd full of media and made sure to note that while he loves his wife of nearly a decade, Sarah DiSanto , he “loves ‘yall too.” Furthermore he keeps Sarah informed by having her read books in between her raising his four black daughters. MadameNoire.com: While speaking after a screening of  The Birth of a Nation  at The Merge Summit in Hollywood this week, Parker responded to that particular criticism in a conversation with interviewer Jawn Murray . “My wife is not African American,” Parker said. “I met my wife in college when I was 18 or 19. Nineteen? When I was 19. I fell in love with her. We’ve been together off and on since then. We got married nine years ago, August 10.” Parker continued, noting that while his wife isn’t Black, she cares about the community and is, of course, raising Black children. “She’s the love of my life. She’s not of African descent but she reads the books that I give her. She knows that she’s raising Black kids. I say that to say that I know I came under criticism for that and not that I have to speak to it. But I want everyone that can hear my voice to know that I love my wife but I love ya’ll, too.” What do YOU think about Nate’s defense of his marriage??? He can be woke and married to someone who isn’t black, right??? WENN, Instagram

Q Parker Talks The Bad Boy Reunion Tour On “Don’t Be Scared” “So we’re actually on the road and we’re on the west coast,” said Parker. “At the time no Bad Boy artists are traveling to the West Coast but we have to promote our single “Only You” and the West Coast is the only coast that initially jumped on the record. […] “So we had to beef up security and we go to the West Coast and we’re out at this club and they play the song and we hear it and we’re getting ready to be like ‘Get money!’  but then we’re like—‘woah!’ From that moment on we would never allow any DJ to play it.” Listen to Q Parker on “Don’t Be Scared” below. The Nate Parker Dilemma: How Do We Hold Our Heroes Accountable?

See the article here:

Nate Parker is a hero for refusing to let America forget the pain and suffering it inflicted with slavery. By that same token, he can never forget the pain and suffering he caused his accuser. Accountability, like justice, is a two-way street.

Kanye West Decides To Put On His Big Boy Pants And Apologize To Nike CEO Mark Parker

Feud over? @KanyeWest apologized to Nike CEO Mark Parker during the #SaintPabloTour : https://t.co/z9QvbB5K2V pic.twitter.com/GGGE6p2Voo — SoleCollector.com (@SoleCollector) August 26, 2016 Kanye Finally Apologizes To Nike Kanye is currently on his Saint Pablo tour in support of his latest album  The Life of Pablo .  During his set, he took some time to address Nike’s CEO, Mark Parker. Yeezy, who’d been previously bashing Parker, was a lot more polite and apologetic this time around. Kanye was in a notorious feud with the sneaker juggernaut, whom he felt wouldn’t give him the creative control necessary to build the shoes that he wanted. If you’re locked into social media tonight, you’ve probably come across videos and images from opening night of Kanye West’s Saint Pablo Tour in Indianapolis. The rapper is running through a loaded set list while performing in the middle of the arena on a floating stage, which seems to be what everyone is talking about tonight. However, it wouldn’t be a Kanye show without some sort of sneaker discussion, and that holds true tonight. During a break, West took a moment out to speak on his former collaborators at Nike — namely CEO Mark Parker, who was on the receiving end of harsh words from West during his last tour. Perhaps above the feud now that he’s been validated by his success at adidas, West spoke with grateful tone this time around. This could finally mark the end of West taking shots at Parker and the Swoosh, but we know better than to make that assumption. Kanye might actually be growing up. But like they said, we’ll see what happens in the future. (Via Sole Collector )

#PrayForItaly: At Least 73 People Killed After 6.2 Magnitude Earthquake Destroys Entire Central Italian Town

Earthquake Rips Through Italy, Killing At Least 73 People Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of central Italy today after a massive earthquake caused major damage across several towns and the death toll continues to rise. According to NY Daily News reports : At least 73 people were killed early Wednesday when a 6.2-magnitude earthquake rippled through central Italy, waking residents as it rumbled to Rome. Entire blocks of Amatrice were destroyed after the first earthquake struck around 3:30 a.m. local time in the mountainous provinces of Umbria and Perugia. Powerful aftershocks followed. “The town isn’t here anymore,” Amatrice Mayor Sergio Pirozzi told state-run RAI radio. The death toll rose at daybreak when emergency crews rushed to find survivors in the hard-hit towns of Amatrice, Pescara del Tronto and Accumoli, digging into leveled buildings with shovels, bulldozers and their bare hands. Landslides tore through Pescara del Tronto and Arquata del Tronto, quiet villages separated by only two miles built into the lush hillsides of Marche. At least five people — including a family of four — died when a building in the small town of Accumoli collapsed. “Now that daylight has come, we see that the situation is even more dreadful than we feared, with buildings collapsed, people trapped under the rubble and no sound of life,” Accumoli Mayor Stefano Petrucci told Reuters. This is just terrible. #Terremoto Pescara del Tronto. Il paese è raso al suolo. Macerie e soccorsi. Video @NicoleRamadori pic.twitter.com/TTFeslcZ1H — Rai Radio1 (@Radio1Rai) August 24, 2016 The initial tremor was followed by at least seven major aftershocks focused around Norcia, a town 70 miles northeast of Rome, where startled residents in the Italian capital reported swaying homes. The European Mediterranean Seismological Center recorded the first earthquake at 6.1-magnitude while the United States Geological Service recorded 6.2-magnitude. Search and rescue crews navigated through debris-clogged roads to reach razed buildings in Amatrice, where Pirozzi said he could hear “voices under the rubble.” The earthquake knocked down power for more than 2,700 residents in the town and brought stone buildings tumbling to the ground near the city’s center. As news of the devastation reached the Vatican, Pope Francis skipped a catechism lesson and led pilgrims at St. Peter’s Square in prayer for victims. The USGS measured the first aftershock as a 4.6-magnitude near Amatrice and at least four more were recorded near Maltignano and Norcia ranging from 4.0 to 5.5. The Italian earthquake institute documented at least 60 aftershocks in the four hours following the initial quake. We hope that they are able to rescue all the remaining survivors and there are no further deaths reported. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected. APImages/Reuters Continue reading

For Discussion: Harry Belafonte Questions Timing Of Nate Parker’s Rape Case Resurfacing “Why Are You Bringing This Up?”

Harry Belafonte Questions If Nate Parker’s Rape Case Is A “Birth Of A Nation” Smear Campaign Rape Apologist . That’s the charge some people will levy against Harry Belafonte for comments he made about Nate Parker’s rap case during an interview with the AP … “It’s interesting because it’s coming out the same time the film’s coming out,” he told the AP about the movie’s Oct. 7 release. “Of all the stories you can tell, why are you telling this story? And if he was somebody who had committed a crime and got away with it, but he faced the justice system.” “The fact that [the system] may have screwed up, the fact that it didn’t really take care of justice, the fact that he should have been punished or whatever is history,” the activist continued. “The fact is that he was confronted and then he did go through the process. Why are you bringing this up now? What has he done that requires this kind of animus?” Mr. Belafonte went on to say: “Is this going to be the price that young Black women and men pay for making films of substance?” he asked the AP. “Are they going to dig in and get dirt instead of fruit? What are we doing here?” Now many have echoed these comments in discussions surrounding Nate Parker’s rape case coming to the forefront just prior to the release of “Birth Of A Nation”. However, Harry Belafonte has a certain reputation for not exactly being sympathetic to the plights of black women according to Eartha Kitt: Can someone ask Harry Belafonte to comment about what he said to Eartha Kitt about black women? pic.twitter.com/Dk6pO56n9i — Yukio Strachan (@boldandworthy) August 24, 2016 It’s one thing to not date black women in the 50’s, but is the brilliant and insightful Harry Belafonte REALLY that ignorant to the reality of rape culture? Anyone wanna throw on a cape for ya mans? Image via WENN Continue reading
