White House Openly Ridicules Sarah Palin

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs took a blatant shot at former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today. You could say it was an open-handed slap of sorts. Robert Gibbs addressed the press corps this afternoon with a mini grocery list on his hand. The ingredients: Eggs, Milk, Bread (crossed out), Hope, Change. This was a response to Palin using crib notes while reciting her speech and laying into President Obama at the National Tea Party convention in Nashville. Because you really need to write down “I’m proud to be an American!” – her #1 political position – on your hand. Is memorization that hard? You betcha! Robert Gibbs mocks Sarah Palin’s “notes” from Sunday night . Pretty funny, really, when you consider she rips Obama for using a Teleprompter. Also funny? In her Q&A, she really went off-message … or off-English. Make no mistake, the White House didn’t appreciate Palin’s cheap shots, and the administration isn’t kidding when it talks about fighting back harder. After all, Palin hates their agenda even more than Levi Johnston ! If this continues, it’s going to get pretty stormy in D.C., and not just because the city’s about to get slammed by a second blizzard in less than a week. Should Sarah Palin run for president?

The Stripper Party Pics the Google Elite Didn’t Want You to See

Google engineer and San Francisco partyboy Orkut Büyükkökten’s wild housewarming may have been packed with internet billionaires like Sergey Brin last Saturday, but online pictures were reportedly forbidden. And yet here are snapshots of strippers and nude sculpture. Google co-founder Brin and search products VP Marissa Mayer helped christen co-worker Orkut’s tenth-floor penthouse on San Francisco’s Mint Plaza this past weekend, as we reported yesterday . It turns out co-founder Larry Page may have been there too; his model/Ph.D wife Lucy Southworth certainly was. At the time, we couldn’t obtain more than one picture of the event, in part because, according to two tipsters with knowledge of the party, social network founder Orkut told guests not to circulate pictures online. That no doubt had something to do with the ” several billionaires ” reportedly in attendance. Inevitably, though, some shots have emerged from the dark corners of Facebook, the Google rival that seems to have something of a lock on the world’s most interesting information, at least to gossips like us. (Thank you, tipster who emailed us most of these pics.) It would appear Orkut wasted on time breaking in his ” custom-built party loft ,” complete (we hear) with elevated dance floor, poles, disco balls, dance lights and an indoor waterfall. There were the male and female strippers, who we’re told were professionals. There was a male nude that appears to be an ice sculpture (or maybe glass?). There was a shimmery metal see-through curtain thing, like you might see used as a room divider in a lounder. And there was a logo devoted to Orkut and husband Derek Holbrook. It was an effort befitting Orkut, whose past fabulousness has included opening Prada , going to BFF Mayer’s Sex And The City party , staging disco parties , and appearing in more forbidden pictures , sometimes with strippers . Why he wants to keep all this fun a secret is beyond us. Didn’t he hear privacy is dead ? Saturday’s party: We’re told these adult dancers are professional. And they’re in a professional venue: The poles, stage, lights and disco ball are an integral part of Orkut’s new penthouse party pad. Orkut’s husband Derek, on the pole. Oh my. So it looks like either there was a second lady stripper, or a guest decided to join in the fun. The guest on the left is Mayer’s husband Zach Bogue, only recently taken off the market . In other words: He can look, but he can’t touch. On the right, Orkut’s brother. The nude (ice?) sculpture, shot one, from Facebook. The nude (ice?) sculpture, shot two, which we found yesterday on Twitter but weren’t sure it was from this party. D erek & O rkut. Awwwww. Now back to the strippers! Ya, it’s blurry. But you try taking a surreptitious stripper shot at a party you don’t want to get thrown out of. “Dancer for money, do what you want me to do…” Metal curtain for the full “club” effect. Hubby Derek with Larry Page’s model/Ph.D wife Lucy Southworth, far right. This guy is Rhett Butler. Like, literally . The host, center, with two guests. ( Names ?)

Nicki Minaj Tearfully Says Lil Wayne ‘Doesn’t Deserve To Go To Jail’

‘Reality hasn’t set in that he has to go to jail,’ the Young Money MC says. By Shaheem Reid Nicki Minaj Photo: MTV News Before he had to return to New York to face his one-year prison sentence , Lil Wayne gathered those close to him on Sunday night at the Miami club Dolce. The Young Money family, including Nicki Minaj , Drake, Gudda Gudda and Mack Maine were in the building, as well as Wayne’s Hot Boys partner B.G. and, of course, the Birdman. While the crew celebrated the Super Bowl victory of their home team the New Orleans Saints, the mood at the party had an undercurrent of sadness, as everyone was aware of Wayne’s fate . Last week, Minaj discussed her feelings about Weezy’s sentence with MTV News. “It’s sad, because he doesn’t deserve to go to jail,” Minaj said about Wayne’s legal situation . “I’m a crybaby,” she added, fighting back tears. “You shouldn’t ask me stuff like that. Reality hasn’t set in that he has to go to jail. He shouldn’t have to go to jail.” However, Wayne has been making sure that he will still be heard from while he’s gone. Rap’s hardest-working MC shot recently videos for Young Money’s “Roger That” and “Girl I Got You,” as well as clips for Rebirth ‘s “Drop the World” and Shawty Lo’s “WTF.” According to a source close to the Young Money camp, Weezy shot an astounding 10 music videos during Super Bowl weekend in Miami. “He’s such a strong person, and it’s weird — he’s sitting there doing videos,” Nicki continued. “I found myself e-mailing him about something I wanted him to do for me. When I thought about it, I was like, ‘It’s so selfish,’ ’cause it’s, like, what is the mind frame of somebody that’s supposed to go to jail for months and never served that amount of time in jail? I don’t know. I’m always amazed at Wayne’s dignity. Everything he does, he does with dignity. No matter what you throw at him, you can’t take away his confidence. Something about him is always like, ‘I am still who I am.’ That’s just dope. This dude is a legend.” Related Photos Lil Wayne’s Weekend In Miami Lil Wayne’s Battle With His Gun Possession Case

The Teabaggers Are Just College Protesters with More Tricorner Hats

With the Tea Party convention having just ended and with organizers already planning another one for this summer (in Vegas maybe!), it is time to cast judgment on the movement: these guys are old right-wing college activists. Like remember when a bunch of NYU kids locked themselves in the food court to protest NYU’s financial chicanery and also the Israeli occupation of Gaza? And then some more established campus activist groups basically said they didn’t have any idea this shit was going to happen and lots of other people who sympathized with them politically found them terribly embarrassing? That is basically the Teabagger Movement. First they were theoretically against bank bailouts, but now they are opposed to Kenyan Socialists who Hate America. They are not just taking back NYU, they are taking back all of America! This is a problem with our limited, mediated, comic strip version of “history:” people have decided that the way to seize control of your own life and this crazy world is to go all 1960s, like you have seen in a movie. Many of these Tea Party people are actually old enough to have lived through the ’60s, but they weren’t on the fun side. Ben McGrath’s New Yorker story on the movement had this fascinating little moment with a local Kentucky teabagger: Don Seely invited me to his house for coffee the day after the rally at the Kentucky fairgrounds, and showed me his Air Force Commendation Medal, awarded for meritorious service from 1967 to 1971. “At this age, I was so ignorant,” he said. “Every once in a while, you’d catch a glimpse on TV of Martin Luther King-all that kind of stuff was going on. I graduated college in December of ’66. About a year after I left, that’s when all the riots happened. I’m thinking, What is going on?” Seely had always wanted to be a pilot, but, because of poor eyesight, he ended up an engineer in a satellite-control facility. The medal was accompanied by a photograph of Seely in his captain’s uniform, and he said that Amber, after looking at the image, had proclaimed that he was the only person she knew who’d kept the same hair style for nearly fifty years: short, straight, and parted neatly on the far right. Yeesh. And guess what: his daughter goes to the New School. The New School! It is totally fun to be a part of a big movement, and to convince yourself that this big movement you are a part of is not only morally right, but also secretly incredibly popular. You have to be attacked and beset on all sides by shadowy powerful interests—Soros, corporations, the political elite, ACORN—but that just makes you feel even cooler. And when you’re showered with attention for your work, you start to believe your own hype. The ratio of media to tea party convention attendees was like 1 to 3. 200 members of the media arrived to cover a convention half the size of Daily Kos’ first convention in 2006. The steep cost of attending made the conventioneers richer, and thus calmer, than the angry folks who showed up for the protests with the crazy signs that we all remember so well. While some in the movement acknowledge the debt they owe to true ’60s radicals (the only reason you hear so much about Obama’s supposed affinity for Alinsky on the right is because the activist arm of the movement is explicitly copying his tactics), the majority of the new populist conservstives adopt a ’60s protest strategy while claiming to be Tea Partiers (and comparing themselves to the Founders when they are, in fact, a bit more like those white populist Jacksonians )—like a campus activist might compare himself to a Freedom Rider rather than just another sad rich kid. The great irony is that entitled young Campus Activists tend to “grow up” and get jobs supporting the post-industrial capitalist superstructure, while these are people who’ve turned to juvenile attention-craving ’60s-aping dress-up parties as putative adults. But let them have their fun! Student protests are always destroyed by forces both outside and, more often, internal. This white populist movement has received far more coverage than its actual size merits (60,000 people on the Mall is, what, the Halloween parade?), and as whatever grassroots, populist elements of the movement that remain are fully co-opted by the actual Republican Party (and the US Chamber of Commerce, the nation’s most influential political party) they’ll find themselves just as disillusioned with the process as a sophomore who just go this first taste of tear gas.

Playboy Mansion Super Bowl Hotties

I’ve been in the celebrity blogging business for a long time now and I never once got invited to any sort of Super Bowl party. Cheese fries at mom’s house doesn’t f@#king count. If there’s one that I’ve always wanted to go to it’s the Playboy Super Bowl Party . A mansion filled with hot, probably intoxicated Playmates who couldn’t give a shit about football sounds like heaven to me. Not to mention that chances are they’re not the most intellectual of groups so I may actually have a chance. I’m not trying to be mean or anything, but come on, one of the girls is actually wearing a Chelsea football jersey. They’re a f@#king soccer team! more pictures of Playboy Bunnies here

How Your Right-Wing Talking Point Sausage Is Made

Here are some helpful looks at how the Right Wing Message Machine works: The Washington Post explains how Ed Meese and Michelle Malkin coordinate their messages, and Glenn Thrush tracks a talking point as it goes from blogger to congressman. Basically, the right-wing is “winning” the “information war” by being disciplined and completely shameless, but what else is new? Do you want to know exactly how it works?
