Just before the House passed the health care reform bill, Speaker Nancy Pelosi infamously remarked “We have to pass the bill so you can find out what's in it.” It has been nearly six weeks now and we are finding out that what is in it is not necessarily good for health care, says Rep. Joe Pitts (R-Penn.). We are finding that medical costs will rise nationwide: * According to a report from the federal agency that administers Medicare and Medicaid, national health expenditures will increase by $311 billion over 10 years because of the new law. * This same report indicated that individuals who purchase health insurance on their own can expect to pay an additional $2,100 a year (the individual market was already pricing out many consumers, but now costs will rise even faster). * Premiums are not the only area where expenses are projected to rise; because of new taxes and fees on prescription drugs and medical devices, the agency report states that costs would be “passed through to health consumers.” We are finding that it will affect Medicare Advantage programs detrimentally: * Medicare Advantage programs were established to introduce market reforms to the Medicare program. * The flexibility of the Medicare Advantage programs have made them popular with seniors, especially lower income beneficiaries; nearly 30,000 seniors in Pennsylvania's 16th Congressional District elect one of these plans. * Because of deep cuts in the program, Republicans estimate that one in four seniors could see their Medicare Advantage plan cancelled; these estimates were wrong — now the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services estimate that half of seniors will lose the coverage that they currently have. Seniors on Medicare Advantage are not the only ones who could see changes to Medicare. The law cuts $575 billion out of Medicare over the next 10 years. It is difficult to clearly identify how this will change the program, but many doctors warn that they may not be able to continue seeing Medicare patients if the cuts are too severe. CLEVELAND – It's an unthinkable crime. Cleveland Police say a group of teens — aged, 15-18 years — pulled a 73-year-old man from his car, then kicked, beat and punched him relentlessly. The vicious assault was caught on a surveillance camera. Sgt. David Rutt of the Cleveland Police Dept. says the teens started attacking after the man and his 51-year-old friend, got angry because the teens were loitering near his house. “There was a group of six to seven juveniles standing in the driveway, blocking their entrance,” said Sgt. Rutt. “The juveniles became more aggressive.” Sgt. Rutt says the men did the right thing, by driving away from the E. 71st St. home in an attempt to get away from mob of angry teens. Police say the men drove down the street to Harpster's Market. The 51-year-old man got out of the car and went inside to call police. According to police, that's when the trouble began. “The juveniles followed them down to the market and while the one man is inside using the phone to call police, the crowd began to taunt the passenger,” said Sgt. Rutt. The teens the pulled the 73-year-old man from his car. First, two teens started kicking him, then the group grew to around six teens, all beating, punching and kicking the elderly man. The mob of teens also attacked the 51-year-old man. Both were hospitalized, one with facial fractures. Cleveland police have arrested four of the teens seen in the video, but they're still looking for two more. Sgt. Rutt says the surveillance video clearly shows the severity of the crime. “You can see on the video you have a large group of young adults basically assaulting two very elderly gentleman.” And although the the attack happened in late March, police are still actively looking for the other two suspects. As if his fall from grace weren’t complete, former presidential candidate John Edwards is accused of a shocking DUI cover-up by the National Enquirer . Seems far-fetched, but at this point, we’d almost buy it. The man has no credibility left, having repeatedly denied accusations by the same tabloid that he had an affair and fathered a child with Rielle Hunter . Both of those rumors were 100 percent accurate. It’s therefore hard to fully discredit reports that John was stopped by police after a boozy night of partying in March and weaseled his way out of it. Just when you think John Edwards’ image couldn’t possibly get worse … “John was the passenger in the car of an unidentified woman he picked up at one of the local bars,” an insider said. “John had been drinking a lot of wine and asked the woman to drive. She apparently had a couple of drinks herself.” Certainly not surprising that he was out on the singles scene. On the way to possibly create another John Edwards sex tape (our theory, not the Enquirer ‘s), the cops c*ck-blocked John by pulling the car over. After she “swerved the car a bit,” Edwards, who wanted to avoid trouble, reportedly used his Southern charm – and possibly money – to hush it up . No word if Andrew Young said he was behind the wheel instead.

After the crash, her ex-husband took the wheel. So: her ex-husband was with her while she was ladyscaping for a date with another guy, while driving. Florida! The Best Links: Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a two-vehicle crash Tuesday at Mile Marker 21 on Cudjoe Key was caused by a 37-year-old woman driver who was shaving her bikini area while her ex-husband took the wheel from the passenger seat. “She said she was meeting her boyfriend in Key West and wanted to be ready for the visit,” Trooper Gary Dunick said. “If I wasn’t there, I wouldn’t have believed it. About 10 years ago I stopped a guy in the exact same spot … who had three or four syringes sticking out of his arm. It was just surreal and I thought, ‘Nothing will ever beat this.’ Well, this takes it.” The Thunderbird she was driving slammed into the back of another vehicle and she kept on going. Cops say about a half-mile down the road Barnes pulled over and jumped into the back seat and let her ex-husband get in the driver’s seat. But when former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney placed a “Vulcan grip” on him, he said he physically struck back because he was in the heat of the moment. “I look at the man, like, ‘Are you serious?’ And then, boom, Vulcan grip comes out on my shoulder,” Sky Blu told MTV News about the incident. “He Vulcan-gripped me real quick. The man was sitting here and said, ‘Sir, put your seat up,’ and, pow, and what I did was a Vulcan-grip countermove. I learned this when I was a youngster. Bam, forehead.” So Sky Blu actually hit Romney in the face? “Oh, yeah, I got him,” he said. “I went upside his head one time. Casey Johnson will be laid to rest later this week. The family of the late 30-year old heiress to the Johnson & Johnson fortune, who passed away over the weekend, has scheduled a private service to be attended by close relatives and loved ones. “The Johnson family wishes to thank everyone who has expressed condolences and support during this trying time,” said family spokesman Jesse Derris.
