Danielle Staub may be gone, but the drama will still be boiling over every week on The Real Housewives of New Jersey . Just read what Bret Easton Ellis, an author best known for American Psycho , Tweeted last night: “I like the idea of Glee but why is it that every time I watch an episode I feel like I’ve stepped into a puddle of HIV?” Ummm… because you’re a fear-mongering, ignorant moron? Ellis has over 141,000 followers on Twitter and has said in the past that he doesn’t identify as gay or straight. He’s also released similarly strange, bitter Tweets in the past. During the ” It Gets Better ” campaign, which debuted soon after a rash of teen suicide and which featured a number of celebrities sending positive messages to gay youths, Ellis wrote: “Not to bum everyone out, but can we get a reality check here? The novel is a modern reinterpretation of James Joyce’s classic “Ulysses,” set in New York in the year 2000, around the burst of the dot-com bubble. Most of the action in the book takes place over the course of one day, in the limousine Packer takes to his various errands. When MTV News caught up with Pattinson, we asked him for his thoughts on his new co-star. “I’ve seen a couple of things she’s done. She’s really good,” Pattinson said of Gadon. “She has a great face. … I haven’t talked to her yet, but I think it’s going to be a great cast.” Regarding other prep work he’s doing before filming begins sometime next month, Pattinson is getting some voice coaching. “I’m working with a dialect coach now. Since the recession in 2008, many U.S. churches have seen a decline in giving. But the tide may be changing. The third annual State of the Plate constituency survey of 1,507 churches revealed that 43 percent of these churches experienced an uptick in giving this past year (up from 36 percent the previous year). Overall, 6 in 10 churches reported giving that was flat or up in 2010 — encouraging results given the nation’s stalled economy. Smaller churches (under 249 people in worship attendance) saw giving declines (40 percent in churches under 100 people and 43 percent in churches with 100-249 people). The Pacific Coast states and Southeast states are leading the nation in church giving declines with 46 percent of churches experiencing a decrease in donations this past year. Whether giving increases or decreases in 2011 will depend on a variety of factors, said Matt Branaugh, Director of Editorial for Christianity Today International ‘s (CTI) Church Management Team, a survey co-sponsor. “It’s critical for church leaders to nurture relationships with people and show them how their giving directly helps the church’s mission and their surrounding community,” Branaugh added. Though churches appear to be coming out of a downward cycle, a new government proposal to limit tax deductions on charitable giving is creating concern among church leaders. Ninety-one percent of the State of the Plate respondents expressed concern that such a change could create yet another obstacle to generous giving among churchgoers. “Charities and churches have been hit hard by the economy the past three years. If the government’s plan to change the rules on charitable tax deductions goes through, giving to charities and churches, and the people they in turn assist, will likely be negatively affected,” said Brian Kluth, founder of MAXIMUM Generosity and the State of the Plate research. ‘It’s not the ‘One’ rip-off, it’s not the ‘Miami 2 Ibiza’ rip-off, it’s just something new,’ Axwell says. The Swedes are coming back to Miami , and if the past is any indicator of the future, we all know what that means. Coming off a monthlong studio session in Los Angeles, you can bet your bottom dollar that Swedish House Mafia’s latest single will be nothing short of epic. It’s no secret that the stakes are high. Having been dubbed owners of the unofficial Winter Music Conference anthems the past two years running with “Leave the World Behind” and “One,” respectively, Ax, Seb and Steve know that their massive following expects nothing short of another Miami monster. And according to Axwell, when the curtain falls at Saturday’s “Masquerade Motel: One Night Stand,” their new song “Save the World” will deliver just that. “It’s one of the songs that came out of the studio sessions we had over here in L.A. this year,” Axwell told MTV News of the new indie-rock-infused track, which he promises is nothing like anything they’ve produced in the past. “I think a good thing is always to leave what you did there and start fresh,” he said. “Like with ‘Save the World,’ for example. It’s not the ‘One’ rip-off, it’s not the ‘Miami 2 Ibiza’ rip-off, it’s just something new. It seems like it’s what people want to hear.” That’s not to say that the new single or their upcoming album won’t have that iconic big-room house vibe. “We’ll have some duplication of the other [classic tracks],” Axwell explained, “[but] there’s a lot of music coming out [that sounds] similar. It’s nice to sort of break away from that a little bit, and we went completely the opposite way — like to indie dance, rock-inspired stuff. So, we just want to keep it fresh and interesting all the time.” With uplifting rock synths and an impossible-to-not-chant-along-with hook, “Save the World” has all the elements of a 2011 Miami anthem in the making, and will undoubtedly be one of the week’s most buzzed-about tracks. Featuring the vocals of fellow Swede John Martin, “Save the World” flawlessly fits the mold as a crowd-pleaser that will undoubtedly appeal to the group’s loyal fans. “We found [John] during the winter. He has a fantastic voice, and the way things are looking now, he’s going to be on that track and maybe one more,” Axwell said. “There was a lot of speculation as to who it was, like even Chris Martin [of Coldplay]! While no collaborations with Chris or any other rockers have been disclosed or even hinted as of late, the Swedes have again proved their versatility in the exploding and ever-morphing genre of electronic dance music.
