Nicole Scherzinger Avoids ‘X Factor’ Rumors

‘I’m just so happy to be a part of this show, no matter what,’ the singer says about her new role on the program. By Jocelyn Vena Nicole Scherzinger Photo: MTV News Just days ago, official word came through that former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger would be sitting at the “X Factor” judges’ panel instead of U.K. pop star Cheryl Cole. The announcement came after much speculation and debate about who the fourth judge on the Fox talent show would be alongside Simon Cowell, fellow former “American Idol” panelist Paula Abdul and music-biz executive L.A. Reid. Scherzinger spoke to The Hollywood Reporter during her first tapings as an “X Factor” judge in New Jersey this week, commenting that she “tries not to read” all the stories surrounding her and Cole. As for whether she found it difficult transitioning from being one of the program’s co-hosts to a panelist, Scherzinger said, “Not at all. I’m just so happy to be a part of this show, no matter what … I was nervous. I’m much more comfortable onstage.” As for the woman she replaced as a judge, she called Cole “a lovely, beautiful girl.” Scherzinger went on to say that “L.A. is my idol,” and seemed enthusiastic about adapting the hit British show for American audiences. “[It’s] frickin’ wicked awesome,” she gushed. “It’s like a spaceship coming to America to give the people what they want.” Abdul also had kind words for Cole. “As I’ve said, she’s

Our Idiot Brother Trailer Introduces Us To The Big Ruddowski

After receiving some good vibes up in Sundance, the trailer for Our Idiot Brother finally lets the rest of us sea-level schomoes see what the big to-do is. Paul Rudd stars as a sweet but dim dude who shuttles between his sisters (Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel and Emily Mortimer) as he tries to get his life together after selling weed to a uniformed cop. With his preference for the sticky icky and comfort-maximizing Jamz shorts, he might remind you of another affable stoner who bounces around his intellectual superiors. Check it out below!

Will Nicki Minaj Or Taylor Momsen Join ‘X Factor’ Judges’ Panel?

Simon Cowell has not announced full lineup yet. By Gil Kaufman Nicki Minaj Photo: Jason LaVeris/ Getty Images Simon Cowell knows how this hype game works. As his old cronies at “American Idol” chug along just fine without him, the former Minister of Mean has managed to stoke the fires for months with speculation about who might sit on the judging panel of his upcoming U.S. version of the “X Factor” reality singing competition. The latest names thrown into the mix are the most unlikely to date: Nicki Minaj and bad girl singer/actress Taylor Momsen. An “X Factor” spokesperson did not return requests for comment, and both artists’ camps offered a “no comment” on the rumors. The New York Post. claimed Minaj met with Cowell a few weeks ago in Los Angeles and that the meeting went well and Cowell thought she fit in well with his plan to find a next-generation musical talent on what he has promised will be the “best judging panel” on TV . Among the other names that have been tossed in the hopper over the past few months: former Pussycat Dolls leader Nicole Scherzinger, Rihanna, Enrique Iglesias, Cowell’s former “Idol” sparring partner Paula Abdul, Jessica Simpson, ex-Spice Girl Mel B, former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland, fallen star George Michael, British pop singer Cheryl Cole and ex-Sony boss Tommy Mottola. Celebuzz claimed that former “Gossip Girl” bad girl Momsen is also in the running. The 17-year-old Pretty Reckless singer is apparently also being considered because she would bring a “young, hip and edgy” vibe to the show. With auditions for the show kicking off Sunday in Los Angeles, only one judge’s seat has been filled. Last week, it was announced that famed producer and former Island Def Jam CEO Antonio “L.A.” Reid had joined the show, though one of Reid’s former prot

Announcement regarding judges expected this week. By Jocelyn Vena Enrique Iglesias Photo: Kristian Dowling/ WireImage With names like Mariah Carey, Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger all still floating around as possible judges, multiple sources are confirming that music executive L.A. Reid will be one of the judges on Simon Cowell’s “X Factor” when it premieres this fall. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that “it’s a done deal.” Simon Cowell told MTV News earlier this week that an announcement regarding the judges on the show would be made “within the week.” Reid will reportedly be let out of his contract with Universal Music early and may take a position with Sony Music, who will provide the show’s winner a recording contract in addition to the $5 million cash prize. Sources confirmed Reid’s departure to Billboard . In addition to the news that Reid is joining the show, there’s talk that Enrique Iglesias has been approached to host the reality singing competition, according to Deadline Hollywood . Iglesias reportedly was interested in becoming a judge rather than the host of the show, but with his own music career as red hot as ever, he may choose to stick with performing. A rep for the show had no comment regarding the rumors when contacted by MTV News. Reid’s involvement would make sense, given what Cowell shared with us regarding what he wants in the judges on the panel. “I’ve got to have people on the panel with me who can judge American talent because I’m 51 years old, I’m British and we’ve got people as young as 14 entering this competition. So I’ve got to make sure I’ve got people sitting alongside me who genuinely know what they’re talking about so that we don’t lose somebody in the audition process.” Related Artists Enrique Iglesias

Quick, Let’s Name 50 Songs Glee Should Never Cover and Save Their Souls

Let me be clear: Though I’m a Glee hater, I enjoy and endorse some of the show’s interesting song choices. During the Madonna episode, I liked the pep assembly version of “4 Minutes” and the all-male rendition of “What It Feels Like for a Girl” because they were unexpected tunes with unexpected singers. But most of the time Glee resorts to overly familiar hits, cheapens them, and shoehorns them into maddening storylines. That can be a tolerable practice, but let’s set aside 50 examples of untouchable pop majesty for Glee immunity. Add your own, please .
