The world lost one of its most iconic innovators yesterday when Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple Inc. and former CEO of Pixar Animation Studios died of pancreatic cancer. Dancing With the Stars delivered a bit of a surprise last week with the ousting of Elisabetta Canalis after she performed relatively well. It all goes to show: No one is safe. Every week, you dance for your life. So far, Chaz Bono has gotten through on confidence and personality, while Canalis and Metta World Peace are watching this season on the couch. Who will be the third celeb voted off DWTS this fall? So far, J.R. Martinez, Ricki Lake, Chynna Phillips and Kristin Cavallari have looked good. Even Rob Kardashian has stepped up his game in a big way. Carson Kressley and Hope Solo have been entertaining, but could be at risk if they falter. David Arquette? He narrowly avoided elimination last week. It’ll take more than another Nancy Grace nipple slip to carry the news pundit through. Bono’s gonna have to show some real improvement as well. It’s impossible to tell from week to week, but right now, Nancy, Chaz, Hope, Carson and David look to be at greater risk than the other five dancers. What do yo think? Athletes usually have a long run on ABC ‘s “ Dancing with the Stars ,” but Los Angeles Laker Ron Artest (a.k.a. Metta World Peace) was the first to get the boot from the season 13 cast. Yes, Ron is a horrible dancer, but he could have had a longer run if he hadn’t been set up to fail! Here’s what prevented him from going far on “Dancing with the Stars”… Who’s That Chick? Maybe there was voter confusion? Up First Ron Artest was the first to perform on the two-hour show on a competitive night of television. Maybe voters missed his chuckle-worthy performance? The newly-opened Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C. will finally be officially dedicated on October 16th. The original dedication was set for August 28th, the 48th anniversary of King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, but had to be postponed due to Hurricane Irene. President Barack Obama had been scheduled to speak and up to 250,000 people were expected to attend the event on the National Mall. Executive Architect Ed Jackson Jr. told The Associated Press that Obama is scheduled to speak at the dedication on its new date. Oct. 16 will be the 16th anniversary of the Million Man March on the National Mall in 1995. Amy Winehouse died trying to save her own life. That would be the argument of her father, Mitch Winehouse, who continues to make the case that withdrawal killed Amy , not a major drug overdose that many suspected for obvious reasons. The singer passed away in July at age 27. Why is Mitch so certain this happened? “Everything Amy did, she did to excess,” he says on Anderson Cooper’s new show Anderson , debuting tomorrow. “She drank to excess and did detox to excess.” It is true that no illegal drugs were found in his daughter’s system. However, Mitch believes his daughter likely suffered an overdose from a very powerful anti-anxiety drug and later suffered a fatal seizure during detox. According to the singer’s father, she was trying to get clean once and for all. Sadly, the rampant addictions she battled for years left her too weak.
