Iran protests increase: 300 arrested and several killed in Tehran

Several people were killed and more than 300 were arrested in anti-government protests in Tehran Sunday, Iran's Deputy Police Chief Ahmad Reza Radan said on state television station IRINN. The toll was the result of clashes that broke out between demonstrators and security forces as large crowds gathered for Ashura, a major religious observance.

Nine people were missing in the aftermath of flash flooding that struck the Şavşat district of Artvin province on Wednesday afternoon. The flooding followed about two hours of heavy rains that caused the Tigrat River to overflow into the Yenimahalle district, resulting in the destruction of two bridges and submerging a mill and a barn.
