Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have a message for Taylor Swift. Well, another message for Taylor Swift. After warning the singer to basically never mess with them again, sources now say the power couple has issued a challenge to the singer. Go ahead and sue us , Kimye is saying. We dare you! On Sunday might, Kardashian released a series of Snapchat videos that featured her husband on the phone with Swift. They were discussing Kanye’s track “Famous” and at least one of the references he wanted to make about Taylor in it. Namely, the line about how he and his former rival “might still have sex” someday. As you can see below, Swift appeared to give the lyric her full approval. A video posted by The Shade Room (@theshaderoom) on Jul 17, 2016 at 8:20pm PDT This conversation seems to make a liar out of Taylor Swift, who said in the past that she was shocked, angry and aghast over the lyrics in “Famous.” Swift came out on Monday morning and issued a statement that slammed Kim and Kanye for trying to destroy her reputation, noting that the phone conversation doesn’t make her a hypocrite. Her main problem with the song in question was the line about how Kanye made “that bitch famous,” and that line is NOT addressed in her chat with West. Either way, there’s been talk of Swift suing Kim and Kanye because it’s illegal in California for one party to record a phone call with the other, sans permission. According to an Us Weekly insider, the rapper and reality star were aware of the legal ramifications surrounding their taping. “They didn’t air it on [Keeping Up with the Kardashians] because it would have required Taylor to sign a release for the usage and they didn’t want it to affect the entire network,” the source says. “Taylor will sue Kanye personally.” Will she, though? We can’t say at the moment. They are sick of Taylor’s manipulations and her good girl act.” “They just wanted to expose her as a fake and will let the lawyers deal with legal stuff.” According to TMZ, meanwhile, the taping was not illegal. In California, it’s a crime to tape a “confidential communication” behind someone’s back. However, if both parties are aware that the conversation “may be overheard,” then no crime is being committed. In this case, Swift was talking to Kanye on speaker phone, with producer Rick Rubin making his voice heard on multiple occasions. Therefore, Taylor did not have an expectation of privacy. It is still possible she could sue Kim for releasing the footage on Snapchat because there could be a privacy violation in play there… But we’re getting into shaky legal ground now at best.
