Kristen Wiig Dances Off ‘Saturday Night Live’ Stage In Graduation Sketch

‘Bridesmaid’ star sheds tears as she waltzes with TV pals one last time. By Gil Kaufman Kristen Wiig on SNL’s Season Finale Photo: NBC There are many different ways to leave “Saturday Night Live.” Some cast members get dumped after a few episodes and are never heard from again and others have long, productive runs and graduate to movies. But most just kind of disappear and are replaced by someone younger, prettier, more versatile or just newer when the next season rolls around. Kristen Wiig was never a typical “SNL”er. The stand-out star of the show that has minted a galaxy of them has always had a little something extra and when it came time for her final curtain call you could tell. During Saturday night’s season finale, Wiig was given a rare chance to say goodbye to the show that helped make her a TV and movie star when she, literally, danced her last dance with the people who helped her achieve her dreams. In the episode hosted by Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger, the “Bridesmaids” star appeared in a mock graduation sketch in which she got to toss aside her cap and gown and make the transition to her new life. With Jagger playing a school principal praising one of his favorite students in the night’s final sketch, the rock icon smarmily said, “I’d like to take a moment to say goodbye to one particular student who is leaving this summer to become a nun. Kristen?” Wiig, trying to hold back the waterworks, stood by Jagger as he joked, “You meant quite a lot to us over the past seven years. She got held back. So our music department got together and prepared a song to say goodbye. This one’s for you.” Wiig then tore off her cap and gown to reveal a miniskirt and top combo and did a series of Victorian slow dances and hand jives with her cast mates as Arcade Fire performed the Stones’ “She’s a Rainbow” and “Ruby Tuesday.” Andy Samberg almost caused a wardrobe malfunction when he picked Wiig up and spun her around after the actress had taken turns with pals Bill Hader, Seth Meyers, Kenan Thompson, Fred Armisen, Bobby Moynihan, Jenny Slate, and Jason Sudeikis. The biggest ovation came when she went cheek-to-cheek with show founder Lorne Michaels. On the line, “still I’m gonna miss you” from the Stones’ “Ruby Tuesday,” Wiig pointed to the crowd as old pals Amy Poehler and Rachel Dratch boogied one more time on the show with their friend. NBC has not confirmed that Wiig is leaving the show, but the last waltz seemed like a fitting end to a memorable run in which she created a host of iconic characters. From mischievous Gilly, to crude baby-armed crooner Dooneese Maharelle, enthusiastic Target Lady, and improvisational singer Kat, as well as great impression of Kris Jenner, Bj

Katy Perry Flies High At Billboard Music Awards

Singer debuts ‘Wide Awake’ ahead of her ‘Part of Me’ 3-D concert film release in July. By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry performs at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images Katy Perry was “Wide Awake” at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night (May 20). The purple-haired singer took the stage in glittering Las Vegas to debut her new single, the slow-motion breakup track from her Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection album. It’s also the song she’s picked to promote her 3-D concert film, “Part of Me,” out in July. Dressed in all white, almost like a bride (ironic, given she’s back on the market after her split from husband Russell Brand ), the performance opened with Perry descending from the ceiling over the stage, surrounded by Cirque du Soleil-type acrobats and steampunk touches, including dancers in top hats and a setting that almost looked like it was from the Smashing Pumpkins’ “Tonight, Tonight” video. Perry mostly floated over the stage in a white ribbon that kept her hanging in the air as she sang about letting her heartbreak go to start anew. The dreamy vibe of the performance mirrored the song’s ethereal feeling. Earlier in the night, in a sparkling lavender gown, Perry took the stage to accept her Spotlight award for amassing five #1 hits from her Teenage Dream album. “Thank you. They told me the only other person who received this award is Michael Jackson, so I feel incredibly honored,” she told the room. “I always say the people have the power, so I want to thank all the glittering, gorgeous [people] out there. Rock on, KatyCats! “Tonight, later, when I get on the stage, I’m going to be singing my personal, intimate song,” she added, before shouting out her date. “The real rock star here is my grandmother. She’s 91 and she’s from Las Vegas. I can’t wait to go and do shots with you after this!” The same night she was in Vegas to perform the song, a lyric video was released as a teaser to the song’s music video, which Perry filmed earlier this month . T.I. Gives Proud Papa Hov Parenting Advice: “You’ve Got To Be Blue Ivy’s First Love”

Family hustle man T.I. has passed on some fatherly advice to new dad Jay-Z In an Interview with Fuse, the rapper, who is the father of six gave the Roc Nation boss some useful tips to bear in mind while he raises his four-month-old daughter with Beyonce, Blue Ivy: “Little girls are going to judge men they meet in the future based off how their father treated them,” said the rapper and star of VH1’s ‘T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle.’ “You’ve got to be her first love, her first everything so when she run into nonsense in the street then she’ll know, ‘Nah, my daddy would never do it like that, so this isn’t even worth my time or attention.’” Before adding not to forget one vital thing: “Another piece of advice is enjoy the moments. Enjoy the moments because once they’re gone, they’re gone,” he said. Nice words from T.I., but with all the love Blue Ivy has coming from the Carter house, we think Jay has this one under control. We don’t foresee Tiny giving Bey any tips anytime soon. Do you think the “Trouble Man” should be giving Hov fatherly advice? Source

Jesus Take The Wheel: 6.0 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Northern Italy, At Least 4 Dead

6.0 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Northern Italy A strong earthquake rocked a large swathe of northern Italy early on Sunday, killing at least four people, injuring dozens and seriously damaging historic buildings such as churches, bell towers and a medieval castle. The 6.0-magnitude quake was centered 22 miles north-northwest of Bologna in northern Italy at a relatively shallow depth of 6.3 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey website. It struck at about 4 a.m. local time and was followed about an hour later by one of 5.1 magnitude thet causded more damage and more buildings to collapse, officials and witnesses said. “I ran out in my underwear,” one man told Italian television. The epicenter of the quake, the strongest to hit Italy in three years, was in the plains near Modena in the Emilia-Romagna region of the Po river valley, and the tremor was felt as far west as Liguria, bordering France, and the Friuli region bordering Slovenia. There was serious damage to historic buildings and churches in the provinces of Modena and Ferrara, and the quake also shook major towns such as Bologna, Rovigo, Verona and Mantua. A series of strong aftershocks hit the area, the strongest measuring 5.1, and local mayors ordered residents to stay in the open. The last major quake to hit Italy was a 6.3 magnitude quake in the central city of L’Aquila in 2009, which killed nearly 300 people. After that quake, then Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi moved a G8 meeting that was to have been held in Sardinia to near L’Aquila in a show of solidarity with the victims. Source

Facebook IPO Continues Mark Zuckerberg’s ‘Open’ Philosophy

Facebook CEO has created a ‘collaborative and connected culture,’ showcased in ‘The Diary of Facebook,’ airing Saturday at 9 a.m. on MTV. By John Mitchell Mark Zuckerberg Photo: Justin Sullivan/ Getty Images Wearing his signature hoodie and jeans, Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg rang the bell to open the Nasdaq Stock Market from the company’s Menlo Park, California, headquarters Friday morning (May 18) as his company went public with the biggest ever initial public offering by a tech company. Going for $38 per share, the offering raised $16 billion for the social networking website, which is inarguably one of, if not the most important and impactful tech company for the millennial generation. Zuckerberg has always been a natural at balancing the demands of running the world’s biggest social network, which boasts more than 900 million users around the world, while himself being an example of his generation’s focus on being open and forward-thinking without the pretense and show of past business leaders. The self-made billionaire is the ultimate everyman, albeit one with a genius intellect, and it’s a side of himself he showed off in earnest last year when MTV visited Facebook HQ for its special, “The Diary of Facebook.” “Facebook is a very open company. If you think about what we do, we’re trying to give all these people who use our products the ability to share things with their friends and their family,” Zuckerberg told MTV News. “The mission is to make the world more open and connected. So we believe that if that’s what we’re trying to do in the world then that’s how we should run the company too.” Zuckerberg went on to describe the philosophy with which he runs Facebook, now one of the most financially valuable in the world, and it stands in diametric opposition to how we view the modern corporate executive. There are no sequestered corner offices at Facebook HQ, no CEOs sporting expensive designer suits. “We have this really open floor plan. People are all sitting out near each other. It’s easy for everyone to turn to their neighbor and start talking,” the Facebook boss continued. “I have a desk out there just like everyone else. … That kind of collaborative and connected culture is what produces the best products for the people who are going to use them.” His philosophy on how to run a modern company may ultimately change the face of business moving forward. Friday’s massive IPO did many things, but one of the biggest, coming in the midst of an ongoing financial crisis created by men in suits, was to prove that the future doesn’t smoke cigars in executive lounges, it wears a hoodie and sits with the engineers who make it all happen. You can see it all for yourself as MTV re-airs “The Diary of Facebook” Saturday (May 19) at 9 a.m. the doc is also available online at MTV.com . Related Videos The Diary Of Facebook

will.i.am ‘Still Has That Fire’ On ‘This Is Love,’ Eva Simons Says

Dutch singer also teases the song’s ‘mad’ video to MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Eva Simons Photo: MTV News For his song “This Is Love,” will.i.am enlisted Dutch singer Eva Simons to add some powerhouse vocals to the raging party track. The searing dance production is highlighted by Simons’ diva-tude as her voice soars over will’s creation, full of big chants, bumping beats and dirty synths. Simons had already proved she had hook potential appearing on Afrojack’s 2010 dance-floor anthem “Take Over Control,” and given will’s history of enlisting female pop singers to add a bit of sexy flair to his songs, Simons was a perfect muse to help shape his latest dance-pop track. “He is super creative, and we kind of have the same energy: We can’t sit still. We were in the studio, and he had this track,” Simons recalled to MTV News about working with the Black Eyed Peas mastermind. “And he’s like, ‘Yo, Eva, would you like to do this song with me?’ And we had been recording a couple tracks before, so he knows what I’m capable of and he trusts me, and we don’t really know each other for that long, but he trusts me. “I recorded it,” she continued. “And he mixes it straight away from his laptop … and it’s done. That’s so beautiful — not only is he super creative and knows what he wants, but he also sees when other people are creative as well. He’s not afraid to collaborate.” This particular collaboration also included Swedish House Mafia’s Steve Angello. “It’s really a club-banger,” Simons said, adding that will included “some piano intro in there and violins. … He’s always creative. It doesn’t [just] work for the clubs, it works for the radio, it’ll also work on a big festival, like him on the piano, some strings, some live drums.” will and Simons recently shot a video for the track, and she had this tease for fans when asked to give some hints: “Fireworks. Just like, ‘What world is this? Like, where are we?’ and ‘What season is this?’ ” she said. “It’s mad. It’s pretty awesome.” Much of that awesomeness, she adds, stems from will directing the clip himself. “I’m just surprised. I’m not surprised, actually, ’cause that’s him,” she said. “He is also a super-geek. I’m a super-geek. I love technology, and he was like, he was directing the video and he was doing the motion-control of the camera and everything. He knows his stuff. It was pretty awesome to see.” Simons continued that it was refreshing to see that even with all his years in the industry, he still loves to do it. “I just admire him,” she said. “After all those years he still has that fire, and that’s just beautiful. But I feel like — ’cause I was big fan of the Black Eyed Peas, and I still am — and he seems like he’s the same guy still that I see before.” Their song is expected to appear on will’s long-teased solo album, #willpower, which also features Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Mick Jagger and Nicole Scherzinger. No release date has been set for the album. Related Artists Eva Simons Will.I.Am

Bono’s Billion-Dollar Facebook IPO Haul: By The Numbers

You could buy nearly seven million pair of Bulgari Bono sunglasses with the cash. By Gil Kaufman U2’s Bono Photo: D. Dipasupil/ WireImage U2 singer Bono was already an obscenely wealthy man before Friday’s (May 18) Facebook IPO
. But thanks to the 2.3 percent stake in the social networking site held by his Elevation Partners investment group (it is unknown how much of the Facebook take is directly held by Bono) it was reported that his nest egg could grow exponentially when Friday’s first day of trading on the company’s stock is over. The total haul? More than $1.5 billion
, which is not bad for a day’s work. If those figures are true, he may become the richest rock star on Earth, sitting on a massive pile of green that could allow a man who already had the world at his fingertips to push into a rarified stratosphere that’s the envy of the many one-percenters he already counts as friends. According to Rolling Stone the singer, who cannot sell all his shares at once, has pledged to use much of the money raised from his investments to aid charity work in Africa. 1.3 million Bono has always made charity a big priority and one of his biggest pushes in recent years is the One Campaign and associated clothing and accessories lines (RED) and EDUN, which help stimulate trade with poverty stricken countries. With the Facebook cash, you could buy more than 13 million of the (RED) edition $1,109 Bugaboo Donkey Twin strollers . But if one person were to obtain that windfall, what could $1.5 billion buy you? We broke it down, by-the-numbers: Bono addressed the rumors of his (alleged) impending money bomb while speaking to MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell on Friday morning. “Contrary to reports, I’m not a billionaire or going to be richer than any Beatle — and not just in the sense of money, by the way; the Beatles are untouchable — those billionaire reports are a joke,” he said. “In Elevation, we invest other people’s money — endowments, pension funds. We do get paid, of course. But, you know, I felt rich when I was 20 years old and my wife was paying my bills. Just being in a band, I’ve always felt blessed. I got interested in technology because I’m an artist, I’m interested in the forces that shape the world, politics, religion, the stuff we’ve been talking about today. Technology is huge, I wanted to learn about it. People might say that’s odd, but I think it’s odd if artists aren’t interested in the world around them. I’m always chasing that. Facebook are an amazing team, a brilliant team. It’s a technology that brings people together.” 6.9 million Famous for his signature Bulgari shades, if Bono were to get his hands on the full stash, he could hit the Amazon.com marketplace and get nearly seven million pair for cheap at $215.77 a piece. 12.5 The giant claw stage that U2 schlepped around the world for their record-setting 360 Tour was insanely expensive. With each of the three structures they built coming in at $40 million a piece, Bono could build nine more with the Facebook loot. 300,000 Speaking U2 tours, on their famous 1992 Zoo TV outing, one of the highlights were the blinged-out Trabant cars that were hung from the lighting rigs. The famously low-budget East German cars were never expensive, but if Bono were ever thinking of expanding his car collection, he could snatch up more than 300,000 1989 models for the money. 39.4 million : In the recent documentary, “From the Sky Down,” U2 basically admitted that they’d gotten a bit full of themselves by the time their 1988 ode to Americana, Rattle and Hum , was released. If Bono is feeling especially embarrassed about all the cowboy hats and blues discovery of that era, he could try to wipe out some trace of it by buying nearly 40 million Blu-Ray copies of the DVD from Amazon . Donna Summer Calls Singing ‘The Greatest Gift’ In 1989

‘Sometimes you can’t communicate in words, but in a song, you can,’ late Queen of Disco told MTV News in a rare interview. By John Mitchell, with additional reporting by John Norris Donna Summer Photo: MTV News Donna Summer’s death Thursday (May 17) at age 63 after a long battle with cancer saddened music lovers around the world. Fans are mourning the loss of one of the greats, a real pioneer, whose innovative use of synthesized backing tracks blazed the path for the dance music we are all so familiar with today. Hers are some of the most memorable disco songs ever recorded, and her impact on music is almost too large to quantify with words, but for Summer herself, it was all about the voice. “Music is part of my life. For my judgment, music is the greatest of all the gifts,” Summer told MTV News’ John Norris in a rare 1989 interview. “The voice — not my voice, but the voice — to me is the greatest gift. Having a voice. You need no other instrument, all you have to do is sing. Open your mouth, and there it is.” Because her sound was so rooted in the mechanics of disco, with its glittering synths and pulsating beats, some people don’t know that the five-time Grammy winner was also an amazingly accomplished vocalist. Her mezzo-soprano voice transcends even the genre she pioneered. Before she became the Queen of Disco, she sang gospel in church and in her early 20s moved to Europe, where she performed in musicals like “Godspell” and “Showboat” and joined the Viennese Folk Opera. “When I hear other people singing, I think, ‘God, it’s great, it’s a great gift, what a great gift,’ ” Summer told MTV News. “And probably one of the gifts that people want the most is to be able to sing, and for obvious reasons — it’s soothing, it’s stimulating, it’s encouraging, it’s sad, it covers every spectrum of emotion.” It was a gift she was lucky enough to have and good enough to share with the world — one that brought her 14 top 10 hits and four #1’s. “There’s no better way to get into those crevasses, those cracks in somebody’s personality and root out the real person but through singing,” Summer continued. “Sometimes you can’t communicate in words, but in a song, you can.” Share your condolences for Donna Summer’s friends, family and fans in the comments or on Facebook . Sara Jean Underwood’s Hot Retro Booty

I couldn’t resist posting these pictures of Attack Of The Show hottie Sara Jean Underwood , that’s not to say I approve of her wearing silly mom jeans or doing that Jesus crap Tim Tebow does that helps other people with the Super Bowl , but she’s just so damn hot. Mom jeans normally aren’t flattering to the booty and yet Sara seems to pull it off… I’d love to see her pull those things off.
