Source: Tim Mosenfelder / Getty Jaden Smith Is Bringing Clean Water To Flint, Michigan According to PageSix , Jaden Smith‘s foundation and a church are on a mission to bring cleaner water to the people in Flint, Michigan . Smith’s organization and First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church on Friday announced that they’re teaming up to bring a mobile water filtration system known as “The Water Box” that reduces lead and other potential contaminants to those affected by the water crisis. His “JUST” goods company collaborated with the church to design and engineer the system. Flint has been replacing water lines after lead-tainted water was discovered in 2014. Lead began leaching from pipes after the city tapped the Flint River for drinking water without properly treating it to reduce corrosion.

Now in 2019, people like Ava DuVernay, Ryan Coogler , and Jordan Peele are getting recognition for their cinematic storytelling, but still, many Black faces on the technical side fail to get their due recognition. That seems to be changing thanks to some major Oscar wins on Sunday for costume designer Ruth Carter and production designer Hannah Beachler. Both women won for Black Panther, making them the first Black women to win in their respective categories of Best Costume Design and Best Production Design. Ms. Beachler was the first Black woman period to even be nominated in her category. Though the Oscars continue to cause mixed emotions with their decision making , the win for Carter and Beachler on Sunday gives more exposure to talent that can inspire women of color in the future. Back in July of 2018, Demi Lovato suffered an overdose that nearly claimed her life. In the months since, Lovato checked into rehab and committed herself to the hard work of sobriety. Demi left rehab back in November, and though her loved ones were initially optimistic, in recent weeks there have been concerns about the singer’s mental state. For starters, Demi is dating Henri Levy , a fashion designer whom she met during her time in treatment. People who are new to recovery are generally discouraged from entering new romantic relationships. And they’re discouraged from dating fellow recovering addicts. Levy recently celebrated six months of sobriety, but there are concerns that if either he or Demi fall off the wagon, they’ll take the other one with them. On top of that Demi recently quit Twitter after receiving some backlash for an ill-advised joke, and there are concerns that she’s grappling with depression and anxiety. According to a new report from Radar Online, Demi has been withdrawing from her usual social circles, and loved ones are concerned about the implications of that decision. “Like she did after her overdose, she has fired everyone around her very recently and got rid of new friends in a drastic measure to save herself and sobriety,” says one insider. “She has her own apartment in the San Fernando Valley now,” the source adds. “She is definitely out of her house. The apartment is her very own and she is alone.” Normally, a 26-year-old woman moving into her own apartment would not be cause for concern, but Demi’s inner circle fears she’s falling into a familiar pattern. “Demi is living alone which can be a bad thing because she can’t be alone and she becomes co-dependent,” says the informant. Friends fear that Lovato has created a situation in which Levy is her sole means of support: “When people heard she was dating Henri, they were shocked. No one knew,” says one supporter. It was such a surprise especially so quick after nearly dying and then trying to be sober when you aren’t supposed to date anyone,” the friend adds. “It just has shown everyone that she simply can’t be alone. It’s like she doesn’t know how.” Obviously, we have no way of knowing for sure if Levy is a negative force in Lovato’s life. In her latest Twitter post, the sad reality star had acknowledged the cheating scandal surrounding her life in the most direct fashion to date. Has she trashed Tristan Thompson for once again stepping out on her? Has she thrown Jordyn Woods under the bus for allegedly making out with Thompson, despite her long-lasting friendship with Khloe? And then driven that bus over Woods’ flailing body over and over and over again just for good measure? The scandal has affected nearly every member of this famous family. Previously, Kardashian has been hesitate to acknowledge the awful incident in any sort of detail. She chose instead to mention snakes on Instagram or to talk about how the world of full of f-cked up people . We all knew she was making allusions to Tristan and Jordyn’s behavior, but the above Tweet is the first time she’s really cited it in particular. “Khloe is still hurt. She still can’t believe that Tristan hooked up with Jordyn,” a source has told People Magazine, stating the obvious and adding: “Everyone thinks she will be better off now. Tristan won’t be able to hurt her again. For him to hook up with Jordyn is the ultimate betrayal.” Barring some sort of Tristan and Kourtney slam session, this is likely true. According to various outlets, Thompson invited Woods back to his house after hanging out at a bar with her and a bunch of other pals. Tristan and Jordyn then spent many hours on the couch together, flirting and making out, witnesses have alleged. Neither side has really denied this rumor; Woods has simply said she was drunk . We’ve all been drunk, though, right? How many of us have then jumped our BFF’s boyfriend? Thompson, of course, was also caught cheating about a year ago on Khloe… back when she was pregnant with their daughter, True. You are doing network television again. Tell us, what attracted you to the story. Also, take us through that moment when you got the script in your hand. Morris Chestnut: So, I just finished Rosewood. Rosewood was fun and light. My manager sent me this script and while reading it I was really involved in the character. I was engaged with the story. When I got to the ending of the pilot I was like wow! – I didn’t see the ending coming. The character was very dynamic. I wanted to get back to doing something that was more challenging dramatically. This was it. HelloBeautiful.com: What’s it like for you to go from the big screen working on those big box office films to working on 30 minutes to hour projects? Morris Chestnut: It is a blistering pace. That’s the most challenging part. Most of the times, that’s the only drawback to doing television. The material nowadays – most are big blockbuster comic book, Black Panther, The Avengers – big ticket type films. So, a lot of the really good material is also going to television. However, the challenge with doing network TV is that you don’t have time to prepare, because it is so fast paced. HelloBeautiful.com: In this role you are very stoic and focused. What makes you weak and what makes you fold? Morris Chestnut: There is going to be a lot of vulnerability that you see and it all relates to my fiancée that I lost. You will see the moments when I have to trust and sometimes I am burned by that trust. You will see me vulnerable. HelloBeautiful.com: In sync with that – let’s talk about sacrifices. Erica Shepherd didn’t want to lose her daughter. You lost your fiancée. Let’s talk about some other sacrifices that you had to go through in The Enemy Within. Morris Chestnut: The FBI and the CIA – they don’t have a good relationship. The FBI is more by the book and the CIA are more like cowboys who go and do whatever they want to get the job done. The FBI somewhat resents the CIA. So, part of the sacrifice is having to work with someone who Will feels is responsible for the death of his fiancée, while working with others from the CIA. HelloBeautiful.com: Why is The Enemy Within good for NBC? Morris Chestnut: The one thing that I love about NBC is that they really focus on diversity. They don’t just talk about it – they are definitely about it. We have diversity in front of the camera and behind the camera. We have diversity with our PA’s, writers, directors, and the crew. One of the highlights came from filmmaker Boots Riley whose movie Sorry to Bother You won Best First Feature. On the red carpet, Boots addressed his very public beef with Spike Lee over his movie BlacKkKlansman. Boots was very critical of the film’s historical aspects and according to him, his critique caused some slightly awkward run-ins with Spike: “I saw him at the Governor’s Ball, and he yelled at me as he walked away saying, ‘I’m Miles Davis , you’re Chet Baker’ over and over.” In other words, Spike was aligning himself with one of the most celebrated jazz artists of all time while comparing Boots to his arguably lesser White counterpart Chet Baker . Luckily, the spicy words didn’t phase Boots too hard. He went on to say: “And then I saw him at the D.G.A. lunch-in and he was like come here and then, he gave like the one-handed hug and just said ‘squashed?’” To which Boots replied “squashed.” Viola. Peace in the indie streets… Boots went on to give a moving speech for his Best First Feature win. Khloe Kardashian has posted three new messages on Instagram. And she clearly doesn’t care at all at this point about being subtle. Each quote is very obviously directed at Tristan Thompson, Jordyn Woods and the disgusting way they hooked up last week while Tristan was still in a relationship with Khloe. You must know the story by now, right? Kardashian and Thompson were maybe on the outs, but still very much an item this past Sunday night… … when the ever-horny basketball player invited Kylie Jenner’s best friend over to his house, where the two proceeded to flirt and make out (at the minimum), according to multiple sources. Khloe confronted both Thompson and Woods about the alleged spit swap and then finally wised up, kicking Thompson to the curb once and for all. Kardashian then made a public appearance on Wednesday and seemingly hurled some shade at Woods online. But she has left no doubt now that this is exactly what she has done. FIRST, via a passage that seems to be taken from an inspirational calendar of some kind, Khloe has written on her Instagram Story: Don’t let shame keep you from asking for the support you want. Suffering is done in silence, end it with speaking up. Everyone has a dark chapter. Make your shadows go away by shining light on yours. Find the encouragement and the strength needed to face the sun. Remember clouds are always temporary. Believe it gets better. NEXT, she kept things short, simple and pointed by writing: We have to accept that some people are really fucked up and it’s not our job to heal them. Because Khloe stuck with Tristan after his first cheating scandal (which took place while she was pregnant!), it’s safe to assume she’s mostly talking about Thompson here. But the description fits Woods just as well, wouldn’t you say? THIRD, Khloe got all deep and concluded: The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss and have found their way out of the depths. These people have an appreciation, a sensitivity and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen. This seems like a terrific attitude for Khloe to take in the face of heartbreak and humiliation. She will hopefully use this to evolve as a person and not to grow ugly or bitter. Thompson, for his part, Tweeted “FAKE NEWS” after this story first went viral. But he then deleted that lame message and has not commented since. Woods, meanwhile, attended the launch party for her fake eyelash brand on Thursday night (yes, this is a thing that exists) and made a reference to the scandal by simply telling those in attendance : “Through everything that’s been going on, you know it’s been real, and Eylure has been super real.” We can understand why Jordyn felt a need to promote this accessory line, however, instead of just hiding out and praying the storm somehow soon passes: Kylie is about to cut her the heck off, if she hasn’t already — and Woods will soon need the money.
