Things aren’t looking so good for Kevin Hart right now. Don’t feel bad though, it’s all 100% his own fault. There’s a whole, whole lot to unpack here, so let’s just get to it, all right? Earlier this week, it was announced that Kevin would be acting as host for next year’s Academy Awards. Many people took issue with this because of several homophobic comments he’s made in the past . In 2011, he tweeted “Yo if my son comes home & try’s 2 play with my daughters doll house I’m going 2 break it over his head & say n my voice ‘stop that’s gay’.” In 2010, he made another tweet asking why Damien Wayans’ profile picture looks “like a gay bill board for AIDS.” There are actually dozens of awful tweets like these — he used to be very fond of calling people “gay” as an insult, and of the phrase “no homo.” He also used to be very quick to call someone a “f-g.” Kevin did stop talking like this on Twitter in 2011, which was also the year he got famous when one of his stand-up specials got popular — make of that what you will. He also made questionable statements during a 2010 comedy special. “One of my biggest fears is my son growing up and being gay,” he said then. “That’s a fear.” “Keep in mind, I’m not homophobic. Be happy. Do what you want to do. But me, as a heterosexual male, if I can prevent my son from being gay, I will.” So all of this is pretty bad, right? This isn’t the first time these comments have resurfaced, but since hosting the Oscars is such a big deal, this is the first time they’ve gotten this much attention. And Kevin did not appreciate it. In an Instagram post he made yesterday, he implored anyone reading to “Stop looking for reasons to be negative.” He wrote that he is “truly happy,” and that there is “NOTHING” that will change that. “If u want to search my history or past and anger yourselves with what u find that is fine with me,” he continued. “You LIVE and YOU LEARN & YOU GROW & YOU MATURE. Please take your negative energy and put it into something constructive.” The whole post was weird because he was criticizing other people for being upset over the genuinely terrible things that he said . And his next post was even weirder. Several hours after the previous post, he shared this video: Kevin Hart: I Won’t Apologize for Homophobic Jokes! As he explained, he’d just gotten a call from the Academy “and that call basically said, ‘Kevin, apologize for your tweets of old, or we’re going to have to move on and find another host.'” He refused to apologize. He refused because, as he said, “I’ve addressed this several times. This is not the first time this has come up. I’ve addressed it/ I’ve spoken on it.” “I’ve said where the rights and wrongs were. I’ve said who I am now versus who I was then. I’ve done it. I’ve done it.” And because of that, he’s not going to “continue to go back and tap into the days of old, when I’ve moved on and I’m in a completely different space in my life.” He also said that since people took the time to find all those awful things he said, they could have also spent time to find newer statements he’s made discussing why he made those comments in the first place. “We’re feeding the internet trolls and we reward them,” he complained. “I’m not going to do it, man.” He finished by saying that regardless of what happens next, he’s “thankful for the opportunity” to host the Academy Awards. So what happened next? He got fired. Well, he didn’t get fired — late last night, he tweeted “I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscars.” To elaborate, he wrote “This is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists.” And despite what he said in that video that he shared shortly before these tweets, he did apologize for his old comments. “I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past,” Kevin said. “I’m sorry that I hurt people.” “I am evolving and want to continue to do so. My goal is to bring people together not tear us apart.” He concluded with “Much love & appreciation to the Academy. I hope we can meet again.” All right, so Kevin is no longer hosting the Oscars because he made several offensive comments in the past that he refused to apologize for. It all seems so silly, doesn’t it? The Academy Awards are a very big deal, and it’s also a very big deal for a comedian to be asked to host them. On top of that, all those things he said really were terrible, no matter how long ago he said them or what his intentions were or how much he’s grown since then. So why was it such a huge deal for him to apologize? Especially when he ended up apologizing anyway after already losing the job. Kevin Hart, just do better next time, OK? It sincerely is not as difficult as you seem to think it is.

SIGN. ME. UP. According to the people over at Science Daily , this pill is meant to affect the RCAN1 gene. In a study on mice, when the gene was turned off, animals could gorge on fatty foods without gaining any calories in their body. “We know a lot of people struggle to lose weight or even control their weight for a number of different reasons,” the study’s lead researcher Professor Damien Keating explained. “The findings in this study could mean developing a pill which would target the function of RCAN1 and may result in weight loss.” Removing the RCAN1 both increased the mice’s metabolism and expended the calories as heat instead of storing them. This process works for the mice to not gain weight because it turns white fat (fat that’s stored) into brown fat (fat that’s burned as heat). The original findings of Keating’s study were published in EMBO Reports . “Mice deficient for RCAN1 have an elevated metabolic rate and are resistant to diet‐induced obesity,” the report said. “Removing RCAN1 had two major effects,” Keating said. “It reduced the storage of fat in dangerous areas around the belly, for example. And then in muscle it actually [caused] muscles to burn more calories at rest.” As of now, scientists including Keating will continue to explore options for creating a pill like this for humans, so, unfortunately, we’re not out of the woods just yet. “The ideal would be to take some sort of pill that didn’t require you to watch your diet, that didn’t require you to exercise,” Keating said. “Now, that might seem like a pipe dream, but the findings that we have out of this mouse study at least indicate a novel pathway that we might be able to target.” Now we just need a time machine to jump to whatever year we actually have this pill…

If you’ve been keeping up with Jenelle Evans and David Eason and their marriage, then this may come as a shock to you … But things aren’t going so hot right now. … Wait, what’s that you say? Their marriage has always been a mess, and their relationship before they got married was a mess, too? We can’t expect Jenelle to have a healthy relationship because she never, ever has? Fair points. Jenelle always picks the worst guys, and David is certainly no exception . When they first started dating and he began appearing on Teen Mom 2, he was weirdly aggressive, and he also did his best to alienate her from other people. He was mean to her kids, he was mean to her mom, and he practically forbade her to speak with Nathan Griffith, even though they share a son, Kaiser. Oh, and let’s not forget that his ex had a restraining order against him for allegedly being violent with her while she was pregnant with their child. Things didn’t get better after they got married, either. There’s always been rumors and speculation that he’s been abusive towards her, but she confirmed that back in October when she called 911 after a fight . As she told the operator through sobs, he knocked her to the ground so hard that she thought she heard her collarbone snap. She went to the hospital that night, but since then, she’s been insisting that he didn’t hurt her. Since then, they’ve been a little extra affectionate with each other, even going on a cross-country road trip without their children . But for the past week or so, they’ve been unfollowing, re-following and unfollowing each other again on Instagram. And if that’s not a sign of trouble, we don’t know what is. We still don’t know exactly what’s going on, although Jenelle did post a crying emoji to her Instagram story this morning. But thanks to this new video David shared yesterday, we’re very, very terrified: David Eason: Check Out My Assault Rifle! Yeah, so that’s David shooting an assault rifle in his yard. In his caption, he wrote “They will say I’ve gone off the deep end just wait for it!” Most people wouldn’t say that, though, because he’s very obviously been off the deep end for a long time now. In the comments, he claimed that he was shooting at mosquitos, and when someone asked why he has a gun like this, he replied “To piss off people like you.” And then when someone else told him that this wasn’t the best example to set for his kids, he said “That’s how they learn around here.” Another person commented with “You don’t have much to do, do ya?” “Yea, I got a lot of guns to shoot,” he answered. It’s all just so weird and awful and tragic and upsetting, and so many other bad things. Like, in the time it took to write this, Jenelle deleted her sad-face emoji and followed David again, but as of this very second, he’s still not following her. Now, Southwest Airlines is apologizing profusely. Traci Redford says that her 5-year-old daughter, whose actual name is Abcde, was insulted and mocked by an airline employee. The girl’s name is pronounced ab-city . And yes, it is objectively funny on every level. However, Traci was not amused when a Southwest Airlines employee at John Wayne Airport in California laughed at the name on her daughter’s boarding pass. She was even less amused that the employee apparently photographed the girl’s name on the boarding pass in order to share it on social media. Now, Southwest has issued an apology. In a statement to People , Southwest Airlines profusely apologized for their employee’s very human reaction. “We extend our sincere apology to the family,” the statement begins. “We take great pride in extending our Southwest Hospitality to all of our Customers,” Southwest continues. The statement continues: “which includes living by the Golden Rule and treating every individual with respect, in person or online.” “The post is not indicative of the care, respect, and civility we expect from all of our Employees,” the airline says. “We have followed up with the Employee involved,” Southwest’s apology continues. Somebody should have told 27-year-old Alabama native John Allen Chau that before he took his happy a$$ over to India messing with folk. According to The Sun , Chau was illegally ferried to North Sentinel Island in the Indian Ocean and shot down with arrows by the aboriginal tribe called Sentinelese. The Sentinelese people have protected status by the government and are not to be contacted by the outside world. When they saw what appeared to be a white devil, they got their arch-and-point on with extreme prejudice. Here’s what a source said about Chau’s death: “He tried to reach the Sentinel island on November 14 but could not make it. Two days later he went well prepared. He left the dinghy midway and took a canoe all by himself to the island. “He was attacked by arrows but he continued walking. The fishermen saw the tribals tying a rope around his neck and dragging his body. “They were scared and fled but returned next morning to find his body on the sea shore.” Here’s what’s wild about this whole thing: as we mentioned, the Sentinelese are protected people so no murder case can be brought against the killers. Hell, the gov’t is trying to figure out how to at least retrieve Chau’s body from the island.
