2017 has been quite the year for the celebrity world. In a scandalous sense, that is. From misguided commercial ideas to very serious sexual harassment allegations, scroll through the biggest scandals of 2017 below… 1. The Fall of Harvey Weinstein Harvey Weinstein was accused of sexual misconduct in damning reports in the New York Times. In the aftermath, things got worse when more than 50 women came forward with their women came forward with allegations of rape, assault and sexual harassment against the disgraced movie mogul. The chain of events set off the #MeToo movement in which people took to social media to reveal their own experiences. 2. Kevin Spacey’s Career Drops Like a House of Cards It’s hard to believe that Kevin Spacey was once seen as one of the finest actors in the business. With several awards under his belt and rave reviews for much of his projects, the only way was down. Star Trek: Discovery star Anthony Rapp alleged that Kevin made unwanted sexual advances towards him at a party in 1986. Rapp was 14 at the time of the incident while Spacey was 26. In the aftermath, Kevin thought it would be a good idea to apologize while claiming not to remember the incident. As if that was not bad enough, he confirmed in the same statement that he has been living as a gay man. The world was not impressed. House of Cards was swiftly cancelled by Netflix, and production on the series was placed on hold. Spacey was fired and the show is expected to resume production with Robin Wright taking on the lead role. 3. Kevin Hart: The Adult Movie Star Kevin Hart got hot and heavy with a model in Las Vegas, but his world was turned upside down when it emerged that the whole incident was caught on video and was being shopped to adult entertainment companies. To make matters worse, Kevin’s wife, Enriko was eight months pregnant, but the pair is seemingly still together. Kevin is very likely scared of cameras for life. 4. Kathy Griffin Beheads Her Career Kathy Griffin is well-known for her knack for going too far when it comes to her comedy. Nothing could prepare her for the backlash she received when she posed in a graphic image with a fake head that was supposed to be Donald Trump. She apologized when she was blacklisted by Hollywood, but has since retracted the apology because she seemingly has nothing else to lose. The comedian will likely think twice before thinking about cracking a joke in 2018. 5. DeMario Jackson and Corinne Olympios Shut Down Paradise DeMario Jackson and Corinne Olympios got way too drunk while filming Bachelor in Paradise. Their sex romp was met with a whole lot of controversy when rumors emerged that Corinne was way too drunk to give consent. Production was halted on the series and everyone was sent home. After an investigation, it was found that there was no misconduct on the set. The show later re-entered production and both Jackson and Olympios chose not to return. 6. Corey Feldman Claims His Life is in Danger Corey Feldman has long been open about knowing the names of Hollywood pedophiles who made his life hell as a young star. Things took a turn in October when he said he said he would finally reveal the names of the people. Then, he posted a Youtube video and claimed that his life was in danger. “I had a near-death experience last night where I felt like I was almost going to be killed,” he said. “Two trucks came speeding at me at the same time on a crosswalk.” That incident was not enough to silence the actor. Very sad news today out of Hollywood: Jordan Feldstein, the brother of movie star Jonah Hill and veteran manager of beloved music group Maroon 5, died on Friday of what reports have confirmed to be a heart attack. He was 40 years old. Feldstein worked as a talent manager who had been at the center of Maroon 5’s success ever since the Adam Levine-fronted band debuted 15 years ago. He is survived by two children. “Unfortunately, last night Jordan called 911 for shortness of breath,” said his family via a statement that adds: “When paramedics arrived it was determined he went into full cardiac arrest and passed away shortly thereafter.” Feldstein started his by working for ICM and Bill Leopold Management. He later became the founder and CEO of Career Artist Management, a company whose client list includes: Maroon 5, Adam Levine, Iggy Azalea, Robin Thicke and Elle King. A representative for the Los Angeles Coroner’s office told People Magazine that police are investigating Jordan’s death as a possible accident. This is because the same office is conducting tests to determine if the music executive’s death was related to ingesting some kind of substance or substances. “His family asks for privacy during this difficult and unexpected time,” the statement from the family continued. “In lieu of food and flowers, the family will announce a charity in the coming weeks where memorial donations can be made in Jordan’s name.” Feldstein, whose sister is an actress, was previously married to Francesca Eastwood, the daughter of Clint Eastwood. The couple secretly tied the knot at a Las Vegas wedding chapel on November 17, 2013… only for Eastwood to file for an annulment just a week later. Jordan Feldstein was a childhood friend of Adam Levine’s and helped negotiate his deal to serve as a coach on The Voice. Neither Hill nor Levine has yet commented publicly on Feldstein’s passing. Live Nation, however, has released the following statement: We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Jordan Feldstein and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Back in October, Alaskan Bush People star Rain Brown was praised for her pro-equality message that she shared on Instagram. Some fans, however, wondered if her message about LGBT rights might be a little personal. And, rudely, a couple of fans boldly asked Rain if she’s gay. Though she had every right to ignore the questions, Rain decided to come clean and answer them. Like the rest of her family, Rain Brown has a lot on her plate. Since no, Ami Brown’s cancer wasn’t miraculously cured despite our hopes and best wishes, she’s still contending with her mother’s battle with lung cancer. That’s hard for anyone to deal with, especially a girl who’s only just turned 15. Reportedly, the Brown family is filming Season 8 in Colorado. We don’t know how much they’ve filmed — possibly just a promo or two — but filming a reality series is no joke. Oh, and with Rain’s Instagram account having reached over 45,000 followers in just a few months, she’s dealing with a lot of social media pressures as both a teenage girl and her family’s de facto spokesperson. It’s through social media that some people decided to give her a hard time by grilling her about her sexuality. Folks, straight-up asking somebody their sexual orientation is fine sometimes, awkward at other times, and sexual harassment in other contexts. When total strangers are asking a 15-year-old girl her sexual orientation, that’s seriously crossing some boundaries. Apparently, Rain’s short hair, or perhaps the fact that she calls her fans “rainbows,” or perhaps her recent message about equality, led some fans to wonder about her sexuality, which is no one’s business by Rain’s. We don’t know if they expected Rain to answer, but she did. Rain shared an optimistic post, as she often does, and a fan straight-up commented: “Are you gay?” Though we’d have absolutely understood if Rain had ignored the comment, she decided to reply with a very direct answer: “No, I’m straight.” Rain didn’t stop there, though. “And I call my fans rainbows because my name is Rain, but you do you boo.” She added to that a kissy face emoji. Some people would add that as an insult, but coming from Rain, we think that it’s to show that there are no hard feelings over the question. On another photo, a different fan commented: “I wonder if [Rain] has accepted her sexuality yet?” (Folks, if you want to speculate over somebody’s sexuality, do it in private or not at all — not on that person’s Instagram page) Rain replied: “I’m straight … so yeah, I have.” That’s a polite reply but we believe that we detect an air of frustration. To be clear, the sexuality question is inappropriate, not because gay people are somehow inherently inappropriate, but because it’s nobody’s beeswax. Also, it can constitute harassment. She shouldn’t be faced with these questions, folks. Not just because plenty of LGBT+ folks don’t feel comfortable coming out at 15 (if they’re even aware), but because it’s straight-up inappropriate. We understand the desire to know as much as possible about the stars you admire. And, quite frankly, a lot of television is starved for decent LGBT+ representation. For this, though, no one made any apparent moves to keep things covert, and the whole world knows that Kate and Meghan were eating side-by-side. Maybe it’s just tradition … or maybe they’re hoping that news of this family lunch at Buckingham Palace smooths all of those stories of resentment. Even before Meghan Markle was engaged to Prince Harry or set her wedding date so close to Kate’s due date, Meghan was nudging the already publicly pregnant Kate Middleton out of the spotlight. (Honestly, I predict that plenty of stories about Kate giving birth are going to be framed in a way that mentions Meghan) Stories of royal resentment, true or not, aren’t going away any time soon. So what makes the royal family so happy to have Meghan Markle join them? A couple of things. One, Prince Harry isn’t a some sort of royal colleague — he’s the prince. He lost his mother at a young age, and his grandmother adores him. (Who doesn’t?) So of course they’re happy to clear away some of the hurdles that stand between him and happiness. Honestly, restrictions on royal marriages should have probably gone away a long time ago. Two, the British government and Kensington Palace know how to do math, and they’ve crunched the numbers.
