Drew Lachey and Anna Trebunskaya kicked off the evening with a cha-cha to Beyoncé#39;s “Crazy in Love.” Determined to deliver a s exy rendition, the duo succeeded with a score of 24 and judge Bruno Tonioli compared the performance to Magic Mike. “If it#39;s going to work for Channing Tatum, it#39;s going to work for you!” he said. Next Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd put a new spin on an old favorite – the Tango. With Marini starting off the dance by dangling in the air, the pair earned a 2

During an American Idol taping in Charlotte last night, Nicki Minaj lost her collective $hit on fellow judge Mariah Carey, cursing her off and, according to some reports, even threatening the life of this pop music icon. You can listen to parts of the exchange below: Nicki Minaj Goes Off on Mariah Carey During his radio program this morning, Ryan Seacrest acknowledged that a confrontation took place and explained it as such: “These are all very different individuals with different perspectives and different opinions that provide for interesting conversation and dialogue and feedback for the contestants.” But did Minaj really refer to Cary as her “f-cking highness?” “It got heated between Nicki and Mariah,” said Seacrest, who was outside the auditorium during the fight. “It was intense! I’ll be honest with you… It went far last night. It did get intense.” Hmmm… so American Idol is coming off its worst ratings season yet. And cameras happened to be rolling during this dust-up? And the video happened to get leaked? And Seacrest had no problem playing up its seriousness? Any else smell a publicity stunt?

Things have been a tad quiet on the Planet of the Apes front of late, but Deadline reports that the sequel to Rupert Wyatt’s hit reboot — saddled with the unwieldy title Dawn of the Planet of the Apes , which instantly makes me think zombies are going to join in with our primate frenemies on the assault on mankind — has landed a new director in Matt Reeves ( Cloverfield , Let Me In ). Wyatt did well with his franchise re-starting Rise of the Planet of the Apes (only his second film, following the festival hit The Escapist ) so it was a bit surprising when he left the Fox sequel last month. The film only earned one Oscar nod, for Best Visual Effects, but notably sparked debate over the performance-capture as art thanks to Andy Serkis’s work as ape Caesar. Reeves demonstrated an innovative sensibility with Cloverfield and earned critical support with his most recent effort Let Me In , the Americanized remake of the kid vampire flick Let The Right One In . (Cue groan-worthy Hollywood puns: Did Fox let the right director in? ) Given the effects work and close collaboration with WETA that the first Apes film involved, however, he’s got a big job ahead of him in order to meet the Apes sequel’s May 23, 2014 release date. My name is Melanie and I live in Israel. I’ve been a Belieber ever since I can remember and my biggest wish has always been to meet him. When I heard Justin was going to be performing at the Teen Choice Awards 2012 , I freaked out and did all I could to obtain tickets. After bugging my dad about it everyday, he finally managed to get tickets. I just couldn’t contain my excitement!! However, I was on summer vacation in Paris. Being so addicted to Justin, I found really cheap plane tickets to go to LA to be able to go to the TCA’s on July 22nd . When I landed on the 20th, all I thought about was how I was breathing Justin’s air. After the long wait, I finally got to the Gibson Amphitheater in LA. Sadly, I wasn’t able to go to the red carpet before the actual show but when Justin finally got inside the Amphitheater, tons of girls ran to him. I wasn’t able to go take a picture with him because the security wouldn’t let me get through to him. I was already crying since I knew we were in the same room. An hour later, Justin went backstage to get ready for his performance and walked really close to me so I pushed through security and finally managed to get within reach of him. I couldn’t control myself and was shaking. Even though I didn’t get to talk to him because he was surrounded by security, I still managed to touch his arm and to take a few pictures of him as he walked by me. Later when he went up on stage, his performance was flawless as usual. For the rest of the night, I couldn’t stop staring at him from my seat . This was the best experience of my life. I hope one day I’ll actually get to talk and take a picture with him, never say never. -@melanieassous Continued here: My name is Melanie and I live in Israel. I’ve been a…
That’s Venus in Fur , not Venus in Furs , though the two are related. The singular SKINsation under discussion is by playwright David Ives , fresh off a successful Broadway run starring Nina Arianda (who won a Tony Award for her performance) as a young actress who capitalizes on her apparent naivete and desperation to seduce the director of an erotic play based on the masochist masterpiece. Now Roman Polanski has signed on to turn the play into a French-language film; as the world’s most famous dirty old man (to put it mildly) we can totally see how the idea of a young woman taking advantage of a powerful man would appeal to Polanski. But in an interesting twist, he has cast his 46-year-old wife Emmanuelle Seigner (above) (who met Polanski when she was 17, by the way) as the female lead of the film and 29-year-old The Dreamers (2003) star Louis Garrell in the male lead. Will we see the dynamics reversed as a young actor seduces a powerful older woman? Time will tell, but either way it’s bound to please (wink, wink). But I can’t teach you my swag… Denzel Washington Covers GQ Magazine Veteran Hollyweird man-candy Denzel Washington is showing these young bucks that he’s still got it. The Oscar-Award winning actor graces the cover of October’s issue of GQ magazine and talks that talk about who influences him as an actor, who he’d want to play him in a biopic and offers some words of wisdom to live by. Check out a few excerpts from the interview below: Is there an actor who has influenced you? There’s a scene in The Godfather II. De Niro’s in a theater. And he’s looking back. It’s just a look. I don’t think I’ve ever imitated another actor, but there’s nothing wrong with learning from them. Do you have any code you live by? I read from the Bible every day, and I read my Daily Word. I read something great yesterday. It said, “Don’t aspire to make a living. Aspire to make a difference.” We interrupt this interview for a moment of silence to marvel at this masterpiece of a man… Ok. As you were…. In some ways, you’re a cipher. There’s not much you put out there. But that’s not my job to put stuff out there. Sidney Poitier told me this years ago: “If they see you for free all week, they won’t pay to see you on the weekend, because they feel like they’ve seen you. If you walk by the magazine section in the supermarket and they’ve known you all their life, there’s no mystery. They can’t take the ride.” My professional work is being a better actor. I don’t know how to be a celebrity. When the Denzel biopic is made, what would an actor need to have in his performance to make you say, “He got me”? That suggests I know what it is, and I don’t want to know what it is. That’s part of the mystery. It is what it is. I don’t go, “I gotta make sure I put some of that Denzel Washington-ism in the movie.” I don’t want tricks. I don’t want to lose my mojo. This man’s swag is truly timeless. These young black Hollyweirders have some pretty big shoes to fill if they plan on coming for this throne anytime soon. You’re welcome, ladies.
