Britney Spears walked off the set of The X Factor on Monday after a drag queen showed up doing an apparently awful rendition of Spears’ “(You Drive Me) Crazy.” How come? Spears explained today that she was just following the instructions of Demi Lovato.. who is incidentally 11 years her junior. Lovato – who herself reacted unfavorably to a rap about bath salts this week – apparently told Spears during the performance: “Let’s go.” Spears then followed orders, departing the the set and returning later to tell the performer that she liked the tribute – but it wasn’t X Factor material. For her part, Lovato said she felt bad for the singer, who was apparently on the floor crying after the performance because he thought he nailed it. Sorry dude. Not the case. It does take some guts to dress in drag and perform a Britney Spears song in front of Britney Spears. But you should probably go into it expecting a walk-off. Or at least a great deal of mockery.
Star U.S. soccer goalie Hope Solo failed a drug test recently, but was let off with a warning after claiming she had no idea a prescription drug she took for “pre-menstrual purposes” contained a diuretic on the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency’s prohibited list . She will be eligible to compete in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. “Once informed of this fact, I immediately cooperated with USADA and shared with them everything they needed to properly conclude that I made an honest mistake, and the medication did not enhance my performance in any way,” Solo said. A sample of Solo’s urine collected June 15 tested positive for canrenone, a prohibited diuretic. But when Hope’s prescribed medication was found to contain canrenone in therapeutic doses, she was given a public warning, not a suspension. “As someone who believes in clean sport, I’m glad to have worked with USADA to resolve this matter and I look forward to representing my country at the 2012 Olympic Games in London,” the Dancing With the Stars alum said. Solo is one of 14 American athletes to receive a sanction under United States Olympic Committee’s anti-doping policies this year, according to the USADA. She is one of only three athletes to avoid suspension as a result. [Photo: WENN.com]
Standardized Test For Kindergartners Being Developed Are you smarter than a……..5-year-old? Educators want to put them to the test. A new digital tool to test academic and behavioral skills will target students starting in kindergarten. ACT, the organization that developed the ACT college-entrance exam, will start testing the tool in the fall. It will be available to schools starting in 2014.The tool tracks students’ career interests, academic performance and progress toward goals. It’s designed to follow students from kindergarten through high school. Jon Erickson, president of ACT’s education division, said the goal is to identify and address gaps in skills needed for college and the workforce. The assessment combines traditional testing with teacher-led projects to generate an instant, digital score. It’s a multimillion dollar project, ACT officials said, but will be affordable and easily accessible. Schools won’t be compelled to use the new tool, but Erickson said he anticipates that entire states or groups of states will choose to utilize it. The tool can be customized to include state-specific benchmarks and other performance measures. Hmmm. What do you think Bossip readers? Is Kindergarten too soon to test academic skill levels for admission? Source

My Name is Jarimar and I’m 17 years Old. For people that already met Justin Bieber, this story is probably not a big deal for them but to me, it is the most amazing experience of my life. It all started when my friends and I heard that Justin was going to do a free concert at the Today Show on June 15th 2012 . We started talking about it and tried to find a way to get to the Today Show. We live almost 3 hours away from there so we needed a ride. We started offering people $120 to take us to NY, but no one would accept our offer. Then we all came up with the idea of taking the “Bieber Bus” (it has nothing to do with Justin). We started begging our parents to let us go to NY alone. At first they said no but then we finally convinced them . The concert was going to be on a Friday so we left 2 days before on Wednesday. When we finally got there, there were only a few people there. We all started crying because of how close we were. I call my other friend and told her she should convince her mom to take her over here because we were so close in line. The first night passed. We slept on the floor with blankets, the floor was so damn hard and it was horrible. Cockroaches were passing next to us, it was disgusting! We didn’t actually sleep though, we were just laying down trying to relax. Thursday finally arrive and we were just chatting and talking to other beliebers in the line. Around 4:00pm we heard screaming girls and then we looked and it was JUSTIN BIEBER! He was passing next to us in his car! He came by to say “Hi” to his beliebers that were waiting for him in line . I was in SHOCK! You don’t understand, I couldn’t stop crying. I ran after the car from the side walk and I keep watching him until he turned to another street. He was literally about 5 feet away from me. It was a feeling that only a belieber could relate too. The sad part about that story was that my two friends who came on the bus with me weren’t in the line in the moment, they were at McDonalds and they totally missed Justin! When they came back, they were crying so much. Then we had one more night to sleep. Finally Friday around 5:30am they started putting people in the area for the Today Show . Justin Bieber did his concert and his performance was amazing. Then Scooter was walking around. Without thinking, I grabbed his hand and with a smile he told me, “What are you doing?” Hahaha! He kept walking and then a few minutes later he walked by again and I took 3 pictures with him. It was amazing and I think he’s so damn cute in person! Not cuter then Justin of course, but he’s still cute. NEVER SAY NEVER because honestly I never thought that I would see Justin that close. I never thought that I was going to meet Scooter either! It’s crazy how your life could change in a blink of an eye. -@JarielizBieber Read the original here: My Name is Jarimar and I’m 17 years Old. For people that already…

‘At the end of the day, mom took care of home,’ ‘Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’ star Scrappy tells ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Lil Scrappy on “RapFix Live” Photo: One episode in, VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” already has captivated audiences with its wild cast of characters. Perhaps the most magnetic of the bunch is Momma Dee, mother to rap star Lil Scrappy . Momma Dee comes off as overprotective and overbearing, but it is clear that there is nothing she wouldn’t do for her children, including selling drugs and pimping to make ends meet. When Lil Scrappy appeared on Wednesday’s “RapFix Live,” he opened up about the lengths his mother went to to provide for him. “Mom dukes was layin’ it down hard back in the day when I was coming up,” Lil Scrappy said. He recalled a time when a prostitute who was working for his mother left to join with a rival pimp. When Momma Dee finally met up with her ex-worker, violence ensued and a young Scrappy was there to witness it all. “My mama caught her slippin’ in traffic and bust her across the head with a crowbar,” he recalled. “That crowbar was stuck in her head and she was sittin’ there shakin’.” While the incident affected him at the time, the ATL rapper now awkwardly laughs it off. While Scrappy admits that he had to see some pretty awful things as a youngster, he doesn’t resent his mom for any of it. “I had to sleep in a room with mom dukes, and my little sister because all the whores was using the rooms to do their thing,” he said. “But at the end of the day, mom took care of home. Me and my sister ain’t never had to hurt for nothin’.” Related Videos ‘RapFix Live’ Gets Scrappy Related Artists Lil Scrappy
In ‘All Around the World’ NBC special, Bieber shares, ‘It’s important I never forget where I came from.’ By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber on his “All Around The World” special Photo: Last time on Justin Bieber ‘s primetime special, “All Around the World,” the singer’s camp worried about him after he fell down some stairs following a concussion he suffered running into a glass wall during his performance in Paris. Well, on part two of the NBC special, fans get to see just what happened next. “He’s got a nice little bump. Doctors said he should be OK,” his manager, Scooter Braun, shares. “It just scared me in general when he was nonresponsive. … In that moment, when he was not waking up, that was scary.” While Braun was concerned about the star’s wellbeing, later on, Bieber is shown being mostly concerned about whether you can see the bump he got in the process. After wrapping up his time in Paris, Bieber embarks on more dates in Italy and Spain, where he meets more screaming, crying fans. “The team is definitely like a family. There’s never a dull moment,” Bieber says of his tour crew. “Seeing fans is always the most important to me,” he later says of his devotees. “I wouldn’t be in this position without them. Sometimes it can get really chaotic … but I go out of my way.” In addition to traveling the globe with his tightknit road family, in Spain, Bieber is joined by his little sister and dad. “Just being able to come back at the end of the night and see my little sister, it’s amazing,” he shares. While he has folks like his crew and family to keep him grounded, the pandemonium he causes everywhere he goes never lets up. Mexico City is next on the schedule. “I miss home … but it’s all worth it. I get to do so many other things that I wouldn’t get to experience. It’s been really a blessing,” he says. “I have definitely changed over the last few years, and I think it’s for the good. I think that I’m getting more mature. But as far me as a person, I think I’ll always be the same person.” Later on, Bieber visits his hometown in Canada. While there, he performs on the same street corner where he used to play before he was famous, noting how “weird” it is to do his own song there rather than a cover. “For me, it’s important I never forget where I came from,” he says. His trip around the globe ends in the Big Apple, where he prepares for a number of appearances and shows, including his now-infamous performance at the Apollo Theater , which he finished unplugged after losing power. “I want to go someplace Michael [Jackson] performed,” he says in the lead-up to the performance. Instead of shutting it down, Bieber continued the show with a sing-along and a dance battle, much to the delight of his fans. “My fans, to me, mean the world. I’m very blessed, and I have all my Beliebers to thank for that,” he notes. “I never thought that I would be in the position that I am now. I think that it’s so important that if you have a dream to just believe.” While in New York City, he also appeared on his very own MTV special, “Bieber Live,” where he opened up about his just-released new album, Believe . In case you’ve been trapped in a cave without Internet access for the past few weeks, Justin Bieber’s new album came out TODAY. It’s available RIGHT NOW. We won’t be offended if you run off and purchase it. Are you back? Okay. Good. In promotion of “Believe,” Justin called in to Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this morning and addressed a number of topics, first confirming that, yes, he did pen the track “Maria” after the Mariah Yeater baby scandal. “I couldn’t really talk about it when it was happening,” Bieber said of the tabloid circus. “Every interview I was like: ‘I can’t really talk about it.’ So, to be able to actually talk about it on the album is really awesome.” Why include the song on the CD? “People didn’t forget about it, it was still in the headline news. So, to be able to talk about it and really say my side of the story and really just express myself, I feel like that was the best way to do it.” Among many other subjects discussed by the Biebs… Which of his two fragrances does Selena Gomez like best? “I think she might like Girlfriend. I think my fans needs to go out and check it out and see what they think.” How has he remained so successful? “I always want to prove people wrong, of course, when people see someone come up so fast, and so young, singing pop music, they think how long can this really last? But, I was 15 when I recorded ‘Baby.’ So, I was young and I’m growing and I’m evolving and I’m changing. I have so many great mentors that I’m looking up to, to just help me be the best that I can be as an artist. I don’t see myself going anywhere for a long time.” Does he really have a studio in his van? “Yeah, it’s basically not for singing, but for me to make tracks and stuff, like a keyboard, and Logic, which is the program to make the stuff with.” Who are his influences? “I look up to different people as far musically, like Michael Jackson is someone who I look up to, but as far as in my personally life my mom is someone who I also look up to. Because she’s given up a lot and is a really strong woman.” ** ANOTHER REMINDER: THG is giving away free tickets to Justin’s concert in Arizona ! Go and apply now!
