Mick Jagger also appeared via video screen for debut performance of ‘T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever.)’ By James Dinh will.i.am performs at the 2011 AMAs Photo: Getty Images Sunday night’s (November 20) 2011 American Music Awards were full of onstage collaborations, and one of the most entertaining was will.i.am, Jennifer Lopez and Mick Jagger’s debut performance of “T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever).” In between two life-size stereos, Jenny from the Block kicked off the bass-heavy number with the song’s chorus line: “You can go hard or you can go home.” Shortly into the performance, you could tell this hitmaking crew clearly went hard. Utilizing the pitch-black Nokia Theatre and dancers’ lit-up ensembles, will.i.am delivered a complete glow-in-the-dark performance that included floating dancers, a headless will and even a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it disappearing act. Lopez played up her part as featured guest, and even though Jagger was missing from the action, the Rolling Stones frontman did appear via video for his portion of the dance tune. To conclude the number, glowing confetti filled the air. “T.H.E (The Hardest Ever)” is the lead single from will’s forthcoming solo album, #willpower, which is expected to drop next year. Produced by Audiobot, Dallas Austin and will himself, “T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)” was released on iTunes immediately after the AMA performance. Rich Lee directed the video for the song, which was shot in Los Angeles and London; it is expected to premiere later this month. What did you think of will.i.am’s glow-in-the-dark performance? Breezy performs a pair of F.A.M.E. tunes, also including ‘Say It With Me.’ By James Dinh Chris Brown performs at the AMAs Photo: Kevork Djansezian/ Getty Images Chris Brown knows how to put on a dance-tastic performance. And that’s exactly what the pop&B entertainer did at the 2011 American Music Awards on Sunday (November 20). Donning a white T-shirt and jeans, Brown began his performance with his slow jam “All Back” alongside his band. With just a microphone stand in tow, the singer twirled around the stage and displayed some rather raw and emotional vocals. While it may have appeared to be a rather basic set, Breezy’s performance turned high-tech when the tune came to a close and the stage turned black. Breezy continued his performance with another F.A.M.E. tune, “Say It With Me.” Keeping in sync with a computer-generated backdrop, the singer mirrored some Michael Jackson-esque moves with his four background dancers. As a spotlight followed the singer, CB pulled out an over-the-top choreographed sequence, full of backflips and spins that echoed similar backdrop technology used during Beyonc

‘I feel like I’m trying to be a part of that group that brings hip-hop back,’ pint-size rapper tells MTV News backstage. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Astro Photo: MTV News While many of his fellow contestants were getting dinged for not going hard enough on Wednesday night’s rock-themed episode of “X Factor,” that was not a problem for pint-size sensation Astro. The swagtastic 15-year-old rapper with the heart of a champion put up another great performance with a cover of Diddy’s “I’ll Be Missing You.” And though he’s lamented that hip-hop is dead and he’s the one to bring it back, Astro did make an exception for one artist he thinks is killing it right now. “You can’t not say Jay-Z,” he told MTV News’ Jim Cantiello after the show when asked to name anyone besides the Jiggaman who is on top of their game right now. “That has to be included. Jay, Kanye, Lupe [Fiasco], Pharrell … Drake? That album is classic,” he added about the Canadian MC’s just-released Take Care. “Everything from the artwork, the inside pictures. Drake is awesome, and I feel like I’m trying to be a part of that group that brings hip-hop back also.” Astro — whose song fit the rock theme if only because Diddy sampled the Police classic “Every Breath You Take” — paid homage to a number of fallen hip-hop greats during his performance. Surrounded by huge video screens scrolling the names of late rap icons including Tupac, Heavy D , Left Eye and Jam Master Jay, judge L.A. Reid’s prot

I first heard of Justin in 2009 and it was my dream to meet him or see him in concert from the second I became a fan. But I thought it would never happen. However, in June 2010, I saw him in concert at the Summertime Ball in London: when he was only 16. He was absolutely phenomenal and that was the day that I became a hardcore belieber as such. Then in November he FINALLY announced a UK tour! I got tickets to his show on 14th March, at the O2 in London! I was so excited. Then he came to London for the first time in six months a few days later. It was known all over the UK that on the 28th he would be performing on X Factor, so me and my 3 friends went down to the studio to try and meet him. However we waited for 6 hours, and he ended up using a hidden entrance. A week later he announced a book signing in London! I thought that my chance had finally come. However when I got there, I was shoved right on the edge, and not allowed to stand near or even talk to him. My spirits were crushed that day. After that I had a series of failed attempts to meet him when he came to London for the Brit awards. I also entered a contest on Bieberfever.com to meet him, but I of course lost. BUT in March I went to his concert, twice. The second day was the best day of my life: I met his whole crew as well as Pattie and Jaden, and I saw Justin extremely close up. He also put on the best show I’ve ever seen! That day i thought to myself: even if i never meet him, I’ve had such an amazing experience, that I’m satisifed now. Two weeks ago ITV, the UK’s largest entertainment channel, announced that they would be filming a TV special with JUSTIN BIEBER, and that 250 lucky people would win tickets, as long as they submitted an essay on why they were “Justin Bieber’s biggest fan”. I spent 3 days working on mine, but because over 10,000 people had entered I thought that I had no chance. When my mum rang me to tell me that I HAD won, I cried for days non stop with shock! Shortly after they arrived, they then let the first 100 of us in early so that he could film Drummer Boy because Tinie Tempah, who he was due to sing it with, had to go up to Scotland. I managed to secure a spot right in the front at the middle, and when Justin appeared he looked flawless, and I was in shock at knowing that my idol was right in front of me! He’s a lot shorter and skinnier in real life! Also he’s very pale, and his eyes are the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen! When he touched my hand during ‘Drummer Boy’ I was almost in tears with happiness! But after the performance, he started talking about the rules and how we couldnt scream and shout etc, because then he couldnt hear himself singing. As he was strolling round the stage he came and stood right in front of me, so I said to him, “Hey Justin”. Then he moved forward, so that he was literally an inch away from me, pointed at me, looked me in the eyes and said “Hey you, don’t speak while I’m speaking” and then grinned cheekily. I met him in a different way to most people, but that’s why I’m so happy, because my Bieber experience was unique! I still can’t believe it and I’m so so grateful. I waited nearly 2 years but it did happen in the end. So my message to you all is: keep persevering and your time will come! And this is NOT just true for meeting celebrities, but for things in general! (We weren’t meant to bring in cameras but i managed to sneakily take this photo!) After meeting in 2007, creative director went on to put her stamp on many of the pop superstar’s most memorable creations. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Getty Images On Monday (November 14), Lady Gaga and Laurieann Gibson confirmed their split, ending a creative partnership that dated back to the beginning of the pop star’s career. Gibson first teamed up with Mother Monster in 2007 , when the choreographer helped her most famous Dream Warrior with a live routine for her Fame track “Boys Boys Boys.” The two ladies shared a similar background, both drawing inspiration from the singer’s hometown of New York City, where Gaibson had arrived many years before meeting Gaga, hoping to make it as a dancer. In August, Gibson explained to MTV News that Gaga’s Nick Knight-directed “Born This Way” video was meant to pay homage to their love for the city. “This was the place that we started. This was the place that birthed her. This was the place that birthed my dance,” Gibson told us. “New York just has something so real about birthing something specific.” In the years since they first hooked up, the two women have forged one of the most close-knit, high-profile relationships in pop. Gibson has had credits on nearly every Lady Gaga video released so far, including “Poker Face,” “Just Dance,” “Telephone,” “Alejandro,” and “Born This Way.” But she has also worked closely with the singer on her live performances and massive stage shows . Among members of Gaga’s elusive Haus of Gaga, Gibson is certainly one of the most public. Over the course of the past 12 months, the former “Fly Girl” rose to prominence thanks to her work as creative director for the superstar, starring in not one, but two, of her own reality shows: E!’s “The Dance Scene” and BET’s “Born to Dance.” And it was during this time that the duo showed the world what they could do as a pair, producing some of Gaga’s most talked-about creations, including the clips from the Born This Way album, which was released in May. “I woke up one night and I got it and I said, ‘I got it: We have to birth a new race ,’ ” she recalled to MTV News about the idea for the “BTW” clip. “As genius as [Gaga] is, she then begins to create all of these elements that make her Lady Gaga. When I saw the final edit, I, of course, was loving some stuff and then I was like, ‘But oh, here we go.’ It was brilliant. Nick is amazing.” While Gibson was outspoken when she disagreed about a creative decision the singer made, she seemed to be always by her side, working on projects like Gaga’s Google Chrome commercial , which again pays homage to the star’s Big Apple roots. The HBO special “Lady Gaga Presents the Monster Ball Tour at Madison Square Garden” highlighted Gibson’s work as creative director and earned Gaga five Emmy nominations. Laurieann also co-directed the “Judas” video , which she told us had left her satisfied. “I was able to sit in the director’s seat and fulfill our vision and see it all the way through. So at the end of the day, you saw how amazing she looks — beautiful — she’s dancing again,” Gibson said. “And it’s just great because I was able to produce the next level: who she is, how many levels she can go and the idea that this artist is a real artist and capable.” Gibson was also onboard for the “Yo

Chris Rene and Rachel Crow also earn high praise from the mentors. By Adam Graham L.A. Reid on “X Factor” Photo: FOX Youngsters stole the night when “The X Factor” went to Hollywood on Wednesday (November 9), with the top 11 contestants singing songs from the movies. Well, maybe Songs That Were at One Time Used in Movies would be more appropriate, since few people associate Coldplay’s “Fix You” with the Owen Wilson starrer “You, Me and Dupree” or U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” with the Julia Roberts/ Richard Gere flick “Runaway Bride.” Regardless, Astro, the 15-year-old rapper with enough confidence to fuel a rocket ship to the moon, soared with his rendition of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” which kept the Oscar-winning song’s structure but saw all new verses — including a shout-out to boxing legend Joe Frazier, who died this week — from the pint-size spitter. “You are a champion tonight,” Nicole Scherzinger told him, while Simon Cowell seemed equally impressed with Astro’s performance and the show’s ability to clear the use of the notoriously protective Eminem’s song. Elsewhere, 13-year-old Rachel Crow was compared by Cowell to a “mini-little Beyonc
