Lea Michele Belts ‘America The Beautiful’ At Super Bowl

‘Glee’ star helps kick off football face-off with patriotic staple. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lea Michele sings “America The Beautiful” at Super Bowl XLV Photo: FOX/NFL The cast of “Glee” is set to shake things up after the Super Bowl with their highly anticipated post-championship episode Sunday night (February 6), but viewers got a taste of “Glee” star Lea Michele’s pipes early in the evening. The singer and actress, who is nominated for a Grammy alongside her “Glee” castmembers, belted a straightforward version of “America the Beautiful” to help kick off the game (she was followed by Christina Aguilera’s vampy rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner”). Sporting a cream-colored coat and camel-hued wide-leg trousers with her brown locks in soft waves, Michele coolly crooned the patriotic standard surrounded by service members in navy suits under the shadow of red, white and blue flags. The star gently cooed throughout most the performance, but showcased her robust pipes by holding the last note for few seconds. Although Michele opened the Super Bowl with a conservative, family-friendly set, the “Glee” opening number on Sunday night’s show is all skin-baring looks and heart-racing stunts. A preview of the Cheerios’ rendition of Katy Perry’s saucy hit “California Gurls” landed online last week, and features flame-wielding cheerleaders in skimpy outfits and BMX riders slicing through the air. “Glee” producers have admitted that they turned up the heat to attract a new set of fans. “I think our opening number is going to retain a lot of male viewers,” co-creator/ executive producer Ian Brennan recently told EW. Co-creator/ executive producer Brad Falchuk added, “We put stuff in there understanding that there are a lot of dudes who watch the Super Bowl.” Falchuk said producers deliberately kicked up the vamp factor hoping to lure testosterone-powered viewers who would typically miss the weekly musical hit. “It was making sure that the dudes who refuse to watch ‘Glee’ are like, ‘Wait a second!’ ” What did you think of Lea Michele’s performance at the Super Bowl? Some Nudity in Hatchet II of the Day

With a plot like this, I can’t believe this Hatchet II shit didn’t win an Academy Award… Marybeth escapes the clutches of the bayou-butcher Victor Crowley and returns to the swamp with an army of hunters and gunmen, determined to end Crowley’s reign of horror once and for all. This shit has a way better storyline than that Iraq War masturbatory shit that won last year…or whatever other bullshit smut Hollywood is celebrating cuz they are paid off and the shit is totally corrupt…staged…insider job bullshit that their little community is in on to scam the rest of America and distract them from what’s really important…like fucking… More importantly how did Hatchet I go under the radar…I mean shit with this storyline the first one must have been a fucking mind rape… At least there was nudity…something that always makes a video worth watching….and here are the clips… Sarah Agor….with her Best Supporting Actress performance of a slutty girl with daddy issues… Charlayne DeVillier…..with the blackest name on a hick….and her performance of a chubby white trash bitch who busts the POV killer…. Shit like this makes me wish I wasn’t too busy doing nothing all day so that I could write a movie…I figure if shit like this is being made…I could be the king of bad movies…I’ve got endless ideas for real low level crap with tits…Maybe one day.

Drake Calls Nicki Minaj’s ‘Moment 4 Life’ A ‘Fantasy Video’

Clip premieres tonight at 7:54 p.m. ET on MTV, followed by a live Q&A session with Nicki! By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Sway Calloway Drake on the set of “Moment 4 Life” Photo: MTV News Drake has tons of acting experience, but he said he doesn’t need to bust out his thespian skills for his onscreen team-up with Nicki Minaj. The Toronto MC and former “Degrassi” star chopped it up with MTV News on the set of the video for the Young Money superstars’ collabo “Moment 4 Life,” which appears on Minaj’s Pink Friday album. Drizzy was coy about just how the two will interact in the clip, but hinted that the pair will give fans an eye-popping spectacle. “I mean, it’s a fantasy video,” Drake explained. “So you’ve got a very regal environment, and you’ve got Nicki doing what she does — big outfits, big everything — and it’s a great video.” In some of the footage MTV News scored on the clip’s Los Angeles set, Minaj grandly enters a sprawling mansion in an aqua gown with diaphanous draping. Looking over a balcony, Drake observes the rap diva as he nurses a martini. The Thank Me Later lyricist stayed mum about the clip’s narrative, saying he wanted to preserve the surprise of the visual, which premieres Thursday (January 26) on MTV at 7:54 p.m. ET and will be followed by a live Q&A session with Minaj. “The twist of it, or the concept of it, I don’t wanna give it all away,” Drake demurred. As far as his performance in the video, Drake said that because of his close relationship with Minaj, being the hip-hop Barbie’s leading man comes naturally. “Yeah, I love that girl, man. I’m not gonna lie to you,” Drizzy smiled. “I love her, so it’s easy. It’s not hard to play romantic.” Don’t miss the premiere of Nicki Minaj ‘s “Moment 4 Life” video, featuring Drake, Thursday at 7:54 p.m. ET on MTV, followed by a live interview with the Young Money femcee that will continue on MTV.com. ‘I’m pretty overwhelmed,’ he said of his best supporting actor nod for ‘The Town.’ By Jocelyn Vena Jeremy Renner Photo: Bryce Vickmark/Getty Images The Ben Affleck-directed Boston crime flick “The Town” may have only received one Oscar nomination , but Jeremy Renner admits he’s pretty excited to be acknowledged for his supporting part in the film. I’m pretty overwhelmed,” he told the “Today” show hosts on Tuesday morning (January 25), when he called in from Vancouver, Canada, just moments after learning of his Academy Award nom . ‘American Idol’ Crooner Brett Loewenstern Scores Fiery New Orleans Audition

Flame-haired 16-year-old victim of bullying impresses judges with soulful rendition of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’ By Mawuse Ziegbe Brett Loewenstern Photo: FOX Another night of “American Idol, another teen overcomes adversity and shows off impressive vocal chops. As the “Idol” train rolled in to New Orleans for season ten’s second day of auditions, Brett Loewenstern made his mark on the judges with his smooth-as-silk voice and mop of red hair, handily winning over the panel despite his tough past. Sporting a striped T-shirt, skinny pants and those red spirals — which he tames with baby oil — the 16-year-old Boca Raton, Florida native captivated Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson with his easy take on the epic Queen classic “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Lopez said the performance reminded her of the vocal stylings of British group Simply Red, who boast flame-haired crooner Mick Hucknall as the soul outfit’s velvety-voiced frontman. Loewenstern’s family gleefully watched the audition via monitors alongside Ryan Seacrest, with the crooner’s younger brother proudly pointing out his singing sibling. When the audition ended, Loewenstern happily burst out of the room and was enveloped in hugs by his waiting family. Although the audition ended on a triumphant note, the performance capped off years of struggling socially at school. Loewenstern recounted harsh years stemming from elementary school, during which he lacked friends and had to deal with unrelenting bullying. However, the teen singer eventually embraced the unique qualities that once drew taunts, dubbing himself “a green apple in a pile of red apples.” “I had an epiphany at one point,” he said. “I finally became happy in my own shell, and now it’s like, [if] someone doesn’t like me it’s cool. ‘Cause as long as I like me that’s all that matters.’ The ginger-haired teen also had a message for everyone on both sides of the bully battle: “Be yourself, because there’s only one life to live.” What did you think of “American Idol” on Thursday?
