The recent #VansChallenge is probably one of these challenges. However, it does make you want to pull out your 5th-grade science board for a good ol’ fashion “hypothesis, procedure, conclusion” experiment. The challenge in question has participants throwing their Vans on the ground to find out if they’ll land upright. The challenge was started when Twitter user @Ibelievthehype argued that their Vans never fail to stand attention, no matter how they throw them. Virginia’s Democratic Attorney General Mark Herring , who is engulfed in his own blackface controversy , appears to have joined the bandwagon of politicians who are no longer demanding that Northam step down from office. Although he at first called for Northam’s resignation, Herring declined to say whether he still feels that way and even weighed in on Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax’s sexual assault scandal during an interview on WAMU’s Kojo Nnamdi Show. “The governor has made up his mind. He’s decided that he is going to continue on and is doing what he thinks he needs to do,” Herring said of Northam. When asked directly whether he’s suggesting that Northam should continue in office since he has refused to step down, Herring again declined to answer. On Feb. 1, 59-year-old Northam apologized for appearing in a photograph of a person dressed in blackface and another person in a Ku Klux Klan robe from his 1984 medical school yearbook. One day later, at a bizarre press conference, the governor denied that he was one of those people in the picture but admitted to applying black shoe polish to his face for a Michael Jackson dance competition. Virginia Sen. Mark Warner , a Democrat who was one of Northam’s early critics, is now talking about giving the governor a second chance. “If the governor is going to continue to stay, what he needs to do is get out and start to try to re-earn the trust of Virginians. When I called for his resignation along with [Sen.] Tim Kaine , we said the governor had lost the faith of the people of Virginia. The Washington Post-Schar School poll that was released on Feb. 9 found that Virginia residents overall are split at 47 percent each on whether Northam should resign. However, 58 percent of Black Virginians want the governor to stay in office, compared with 37 percent of whites share their view. Herring, who reportedly has aspirations of running for governor, admitted on Feb. 6 that he, too, wore blackface while in college. His confession came after the first of two women accused Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax of sexual assault. While softening his rhetoric on Northam, Herring was more definitive about the allegations Fairfax was facing. “I think all parties want some type of impartial investigation. Earlier today, we explored the question of why Jill Duggar is hated by so many Counting On viewers. Now, it’s time to answer the much simpler question of why Duggar fans are so often critical of Derick Dillard. As you’re probably aware, Derick was fired from Counting On back in 2017 after launching a bigoted bullying campaign against fellow TLC star Jazz Jennings. Needless to say, many fans of the Duggar clan were not terribly thrilled by the situation. And it seems some of Jim Bob and Michelle’s closest friends also took issue with Derick’s behavior on social media. For over a decade, the Duggars have been close friends with the Bates family, stars of WeTV’s Bringing Up Bates . Like the Duggars, the Bates are a massive evangelical clan whose unorthodox belief system and penchant for extreme breeding practices earned them a basic cable reality show. The Bates never became as popular as the Duggars — but they’re also considerably less problematic. The Bates share the Duggars’ ultra-conservative belief system, but it seems they draw the line at public expressions of bigotry, such as Derick’s campaign against Jazz. As many Reddit users have now pointed out, several members of the Bates family used to follow Derick on Twitter and Instagram. Now, it looks as though the entire family has unfollowed Derick. “The shunning begins,” wrote one viewer. “The Bates family have unfollowed Jill and Derick. On Monday morning, Wendy Williams returned to host her talk show for the first time in two months. And, after updating her viewers on the condition of her health following a series of ongoing setback and scares, Williams shifted the focus to one of the hottest topics out there: Her own marriage. By now, you’ve probably heard all the chatter, right? For quite awhile, the rumor mill has been churning with discussion over whether Wendy’s husband of over two decades, Kevin Hunter, has been having an affair. And not just any random, brief affair, either. The Daily Mail has reported that Hunter is living a double life with his mistress and may even have gotten her pregnant. Heck, some have even theorized that Williams stayed off the air for so long in order to avoid the embarrassment of airing episodes during the height of this subject matter making the Internet round. But she went right ahead and addressed the alleged infidelity on Monday — as directly as ever. “I want to shout out to my husband. I’m still wearing my ring,” the polarizing personality said on air, adding: “Believe me you, when you’ve been with somebody for 28 years…married for 25 years…we know each other. “He’s my best friend, he’s my lover, he’s all this and he’s all that. I know what you’ve been seeing and I know what the streets have been talking about.” Williams never actually shot down the rumor of an affair, but did make it clear she’s sticking by her man. For better or for worse. She even pulled out a throwback photo of the couple together “before any plastic surgery” and told her audience: “Let me show you who I fell in love with and who he fell in love with.” While Williams looked differently from the woman in the photo, “it’s still me in the head and I am still very much in love with my husband,” she explained, concluding as follows: “Anybody who’s been married for 5 minutes or 500 years, you know marriages have ebbs and flows. They can really screw you over. “So, they are adjusting my thyroid meds and the eyeballs are attached to the thyroid, which is my Graves’ disease, and I always have equilibrium issues with my vertigo. “I’m the kind of patient, if I cough, I am thinking, ‘I am dying. As you’ve probably heard by now, Tristan Thompson was caught cheating on Khloe Kardashian again last week. And this time, Tristan made the situation even worse by hooking up with Jordyn Woods , longtime best friend of Kylie Jenner. By all accounts, Khloe was more or less over her relationship with Tristan long before news of his latest infidelity broke. But the fact that her baby daddy couldn’t keep his hands off a woman that Khloe considers a little sister is something the entire family just can’t get over. “Khloe is still hurt. She still can’t believe that Tristan hooked up with Jordan,” a source close to the situation tells People magazine. “Everyone thinks she will be better off now. Tristan won’t be able to hurt her again,” the source continues. “For him to hook up with Jordan is the ultimate betrayal.” The insider goes on to say that Khloe is focusing on her daughter these days, and while she’s wounded by Tristan’s behavior, she’s also determined to remain strong for the sake of baby True. “It’s always difficult when you realize a relationship that you have worked hard on to keep is completely over,” the source says. “But for Khloé, although it seemed she was always hoping Tristan would change, she has been acting for a while like she has moved on. “She has been living in L.A. alone with True for months. The latest performance on Ansari’s Road to Nowhere tour drew the likes of Mindy Kaling, who went as far as posting a photo of her ticket stub on Instagram, with the caption “Funniest s**t ever.” Unsurprisingly, a large number of both Kaling’s fans and critics decided to chime in on her continued support for Ansari throughout the backlash he’s faces following sexual assault accusations. Kaling spent the rest of the night doubling down on her support for Ansari and her decision to attend his stand-up show. “I’m a feminist and standing up for women is very important to me,” she said in response to one of the comments. “I’m not rehabbing him Bc I think he did a fine job doing it himself.” She also made a point of deleting certain comments she took offense to, including one which compared Ansari to R. Kelly: “I think comparing Aziz to R. Kelly was offensive and degrading to the victims of R. Kelly, so yeah, I deleted it,” the actress wrote, according to reports from BuzzFeed . This all stems from a story back in 2018, when Ansari was the subject of an article written by a woman he allegedly pressured into having sex with him. The woman claimed that Ansari failed to acknowledge both “verbal and non-verbal cues” that indicated she was not comfortable being intimate with him. But unlike most cut-and-dry stories, Ansari’s case had many readers scratching their heads on what is and isn’t consent, along with what is and isn’t sexual assault. Earlier this month, the comedian addressed the incident for the first time since releasing his initial statement once the allegations were published. He repeatedly apologized and signaled that he had spent a long time reflecting on his behavior. “There were times I felt really upset and humiliated and embarrassed, and ultimately I just felt terrible this person felt this way,” Aziz reportedly told a crowd in New York City. “I definitely don’t separate the art from the artist,” Kaling wrote to someone else in another response . “His experience has shaped his art and he talked about [it] eloquently. I hope you check it out.”

On Tuesday night, Ariana Grande ran into Piers Morgan at a restaurant in Los Angeles, prompting the singer and the obnoxious talk show host to sit down and hash out their differences. Back in November, you may recall, Morgan trashed Ellen DeGeneres as a hypocrite and the all-girls group Little Mix for showing some skin on the comedian’s talk show. The chauvinistic Brit criticized the group for using its sexuality to promote their music, an accusation that angers both Grande and even her mother. Ariana quickly jumped on Twtitter to explain the concept of female empowerment to Morgan. “I use my talent AND my sexuality all the time because I choose to,” Grande Tweeted at Morgan in response to his remarks. “Women can be sexual AND talented. Naked and dignified. Grande and Morgan even posed for a selfie together (below), alongside which Piers echoed Grande’s sentiment. He wrote as a caption to this unexpected snapshot: So… we bumped into each other in a LA restaurant, she joined me for ‘a chat’ & 2 hours later we were still chatting. Millions have been left confused and outraged by reports that Empire star Jussie Smollett staged an attack , which he then reported as a racist and homophobic hate crime perpetrated by two Trump-supporting white men. While no charges have been filed against the actor yet, his case is set to go before a grand jury as early as this week. Smollett is clearly gearing up for a legal battle, and he’s reportedly hired famed defense attorney Mark Geragos, who’s apparently planning to argue that Smollett is being framed by the Chicago Police Department. Needless to say, Smollett’s got a hard road ahead of him. If the allegations against him prove to be accurate, then the best he can hope for is that he’ll lose his career but retain his freedom. The worst-case scenario for the actor is that he’ll be sent to prison. As new facts emerged about the case, Smollett lost support from several high-profile defenders — but it seems he still has some powerful VIPs in his corner. Earlier this week it was reported that Smollett would be fired from Empire . On Tuesday, those reports were amended, and sources close to the show revealed that Smollett’s role on the show has been dramatically reduced for the season’s final two episodes with the goal of eventually cutting him loose. Today, however, Fox issued a statement revealing that Smollett has not been fired and neither the network nor the producers of Empire have any intention of firing him anytime soon. “Jussie Smollett continues to be a consummate professional on set and as we have previously stated, he is not being written out of the show,” the statement reads. This is surprising news for a number of reasons. With the show’s ratings already declining over the past two seasons, the Smollett scandal could be the nail in the coffin for Empire . While it makes sense that producers would wait until the police investigation to be completed before they would make a final decision on Smollett’s future, it’s puzzling that they would issue any statement at all about his role on the show. We know that for the show’s second-to-last episode of the season, Smollett’s role has been reduced from nine scenes to four. He was also scheduled to perform a song that has now been excised entirely. The move represented a subtle compromise that would allow producers the option to gradually write Smollett out of the series. Today’s announcement is something of a bold move, as it might be interpreted by some as a sign that Smollett has his boss’ wholesale support.
