Cyndi Lauper to Madonna: Calm the Eff Down!

Cyndi Lauper offered some pointed words for Madonna on Watch What Happens last night. Appearing opposite Andy Cohen, the former pop star was asked about the Women's March in Washington last Saturday, specifically how Madonna told a throng of protestors that she had thought about blowing up the White House . The legendary artist later tried to clarify this remark , but it's not exactly the kind of thing one can walk back easily. And it's not the sort of thing Lauper liked to hear from her fellow singer. “I don’t think that it served our purpose,” Lauper told Cohen on the latter's Bravo talk show. “Anger is not better than clarity and humanity. That is what opens people’s minds.” Lauper, of course, wasn't against the Women's March overall. Far from it. She just preferred the way some other celebrities went about passing along their message of hope and inspiration. Like Scarlett Johansson, who spoke about her experience with Planned Parenthood. “It was clear, it was eloquent,” Lauper said. “Yelling just jacks people up. It doesn’t communicate any kind of humanity or story that would open another person’s mind.” Watch Lauper's full critique of Madonna below:

Taylor Swift Under Fire for Women’s March Remarks!

Taylor Swift, more than any other popular celebrity, was extremely quiet during the 2016 presidential election. Aside from one social media post on Election Day expressing the importance of voting, she didn’t say a word — and a lot of people have been upset with her for it. Taylor is obviously one of the most influential celebrities today, and if she’d have been a little more outspoken about her political beliefs , some argue, it would have meant a lot to her fans. Of course, that’s assuming she supported Hillary Clinton. If she supported Trump , speaking out about it would have essentially been career suicide. But no matter who was Taylor’s pick for president, she obviously had no obligation to announce it. And remember, it was years and years into Taylor’s career before she felt comfortable enough to call herself a feminist , and even then, she only did it when feminism became something of a trend. All that is to say that Taylor’s never been one to loudly broadcast her political beliefs, especially if they’re even the slightest bit controversial. And boy, is she paying for it now. Yesterday, while hundreds of thousands of people all around the world were participating in the Women’s March — many of them celebrities — Taylor tweeted this: “So much love, pride, and respect for those who marched. I’m proud to be a woman today, and every day.” And immediately after she sent the tweet, people took issue with it. “This is gross opportunism,” one person told her. “Be better.” “As a fan of yours,” another person wrote, “this is some bullsh-t. You do not get to pick and choose when feminism benefits you .” The same person added “If you were really for feminism you would have spoken up against Donald Trump instead of just saying to vote on Election Day.” “You got a bad leg or something?” a follower hilariously pondered. “Why didn’t you March?” One person pulled out all the stops and told Taylor to “Stop using feminism as a prop to fuel your fake girl power narrative/meticulously crafted PR persona.” And that’s the issue: if Taylor truly was a feminist, these people believe that she should have been more vocal during the election, when it mattered the most. It’s so easy to take ten seconds and send a tweet, but why wasn’t she spotted at any marches yesterday? Rihanna and Katy Perry, two pop stars on Taylor’s level, managed to go out and support the cause they believe in, and there were no issues, no one caused a scene over seeing someone famous and stopped marching. Did she tweet about the Women’s March because she sincerely had feelings about it, or for the likes? It’s hard to say. But the point is that if Taylor really does feel so strongly about all this, there are a million things she could have done in the past several months to prove it. Women’s March: See How The Celebs Got Involved!

Donald Trump's presidency is bad news for so very, very many people. All the people, basically. But one group — one entire gender, actually — banded together on Saturday, January 21st, in protest . We're speaking, of course, about the Women's March. Women came together in Washington D.C., in Los Angeles, in Chicago, and in so many other major cities, and in some not-so-major cities as well. It was a beautiful sight to see, and so now let's see what the celebrities did to honor the occasion! 1. Katy Perry Katy Perry, one of Hillary Clinton’s biggest supporters, marched in Washington. 2. Scarlett Johansson Scarlett Johansson spoke in support of Planned Parenthood. 3. Melissa Benoist Supergirl actress Melissa Benoist got in on the action with this amazing sign. 4. Nick Offerman Nick Offerman, best known for playing Ron Swanson on Parks and Recreation, got himself a popular “pussy hat.” 5. Jeremy Calvert and Brooke Wehr: The Engagement is Back On!

If you thought that the Teen Mom drama only revolved around the girls who gave birth on reality television when they were teenagers, you couldn’t be more wrong. Seriously, are you new? Teen Mom drama can involve the moms, the moms’ family, the moms’ friends, the moms’ significant others. It can even. and often does, involve MTV, the company that made them rich-ish and famous in the first place. Any and all shenanigans can go down for these people, and the eventful love life of Jeremy Calvert is proof of that. Jeremy is sometimes featured on Teen Mom 2, since he was briefly married to Leah Messer and had a child with her. These days, he’s not involved with Leah at all beyond co-parenting, and he’s barely on the show anymore, but still, people seem to be interested in what he’s been getting up to. Probably because he’s been up to no good. Jeremy has been dating this girl named Brooke Wehr since 2015. The relationship has had its ups and downs, and we’ve seen some of them on Teen Mom 2. We’ve seen Jeremy ditch his own kid to take care of Brooke’s , we’ve seen Leah embarrass herself, seemingly out of jealousy of Brooke . And last week, we saw Brooke and Jeremy break up on Instagram. It was an exceptionally millennial breakup, communicated through memes. Brooke posted one that read “I’m letting go. You let go a long time ago, and I realize that it is time for me to do the same.” Another read “It hurts when the person that made you feel special yesterday, makes you feel so unwanted today.” Jeremy’s heartfelt meme read “Sometimes holding on does more damage than letting go.” In his caption, he wrote “This speaks so much volume to me.” It’s not clear what caused such a modern split, but there’s been some speculation that MTV’s dastardly editing played a role in it. Particularly, one scene of Leah talking about Jeremy’s engagement to Brooke in which she claimed that he thought the engagement was not a big deal. Leah Messer Reacts to Jeremy Calvert Engagement So sad, right? But before you get too heartbroken, you should know that Jeremy and Brooke are already back together. Brooke shared a screenshot of one of the breakup stories, one that blamed Teen Mom for everything, and wrote “This is not the reason we ever broke up.” “I keep seeing these articles and that scene is not the reason that we ever broke up lol,” she insisted. “Just to clarify.” One of her followers commented to say that she wasn’t even aware of their breakup, and Brooke replied “for like a day lol.” Then Jeremy shared a photo of himself with Brooke, and in his caption he wrote “Yes we have fights and yes we have are arugements and short break ups but we still continue to try and make it work everyday.” “Life and relationship arent easy on a day-to-day basis and never less with a camera in ur face, your a great step mom to my child and the only female she has been around and that makes me happy and i want it to stay that way for her sake.” “Your a amazing mom to your little one also. No matter what I love you even during the fights and arguements,” he continued. “Sometimes u bother me like no other and other times i want u to bother me for the rest of my life… i love you @bwehr10.” Yeah, yeah, that grammar and spelling. But still, it’s a sweet message, right? Congrats to Jeremy and Brooke on their engagement (again)! View Slideshow: Brooke Wehr: Who is Jeremy Calvert’s Fiancee?

#RHOA Did Porsha Out Her ‘Bestie’ For Secretly Smashing Kandi?

Shady or nah??? Porsha Williams Blasted For Breaking “Girl Code” With Shamea Morton During last night’s episode of RHOA viewers watched as Porsha Williams defended her “Frack” Phaedra from Kandi. According to Phaedra, Porsha’s bestie Shamea Morton has been sleeping with Kand, and Porsha seemed to confirm it when she didn’t deny it. Shamea is now none too pleased with Porsha and posted THIS. “When someone you consider a best friend will cosign a lie about you…” wrote the starlet. Rockettes: FORCED to Perform at Donald Trump Inauguration?

There have been a lot of jokes about what a horrendous year 2016 has been (Don’t talk about it in the past tense yet, or it’ll grandmother and your favorite singer in one fiery head-on collision.), but we think much of the criticism has been unfair. After all, we already have reason to believe that 2017 will be much, much worse. We may not know exactly what unique horrors lie in store for us in the coming 12 months, but we do know we won’t make it three weeks before Putin’s puppet pops a figurative squat on the Capitol steps and wipes with the Constitution. Yes, whether you like it or not (statistically, you probably don’t) Donald Trump’s inauguration will take place on January 20. Usually, entertainers consider performing on Inauguration Day to be a incredible honor, but Team Trump has had difficulty securing any talent at all, much less the yuuuuge names that Trump would like to see on stage. Thus far, only three acts have been confirmed for the Donald’s Inauguration Day: The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, which is surprising, considering how much Trump struggled against independent candidate Evan McMullin in Utah. Jackie Evancho, which is also surprising, considering that by finishing in second place on her season of America’s Got Talent, Evancho joins the rest of the world on Trump’s list of losers. And the Radio City Rockettes, who are the most surprising selection of all, as they’re basically being coerced into getting on stage to sport massive grins and get their kick-line on. A Rockette named Phoebe Price took to Instagram to express her displeasure with being forced to perform at the inauguration, and her plea for understanding has gone viral today:   “I usually don’t use social media to make a political stand but I feel overwhelmed with emotion,” Price writes. “Finding out that it has been decided for us that Rockettes will be performing at the Presidential inauguration makes me feel embarrassed and disappointed.” “The women I work with are intelligent and are full of love and the decision of performing for a man that stands for everything we’re against is appalling,” “I am speaking for just myself but please know that after we found out this news, we have been performing with tears in our eyes and heavy hearts #notmypresident” An email that was sent from the Rockettes union to the performers went public today, and many have expressed shock over the group basically being informed that they have no choice but to take the stage: “Everyone is entitled to her own political beliefs, but there is no room for this in the workplace,” the email reads. “If you are not full time, you do not have to sign up to do this work. If you are full time, you are obligated.” The women are further informed that any “boycott” of the event will be considered “invalid.” Trump, meanwhile, has been tweeting about how many celebrities are clamoring to be invited to the event – without naming any names, of course: “The so-called ‘A’ list celebrities are all wanting tixs to the inauguration, but look what they did for Hillary, NOTHING,” Trump tweeted. “I want the PEOPLE!” the President-elect tweeted this morning. Chrissy Teigen and many other celebs have already taken to social media to inform the rest of the world that Trump is completely full of it , but you knew that already. BOSSIP Exclusive: Common Talks Lending His Voice To Ava Duvernay’s 13th, Becoming More Active In Black Matters

Common Talks 13th , Social Activism Common is really living up to his original rap name “Common Sense” these days. The rapper’s activism anthem “Letter to the Free” is the end-title track on 13th and has already been nominated for a 2016 Critics’ Choice Documentary Award for “Best Song in a Documentary.” The song’s lyrics tackle America’s racial divide and reflect the film’s focus on the prison system as a new form of slavery in America. It’s also featured on Common’s own latest album, “Black America Again.” Take a listen: We caught up with Common to chat about the single, his invovlement with the project, and how his affiliation with Ava Duvernay movies have shaped his musical direction and activism… What made you want to become involved with 13th in the way that you have? 13th hit me in a way…it was like I know some of this, I didn’t know about this ALEC stuff, I didn’t even know the 13th amendment said that — I’ll be honest — I didn’t even realize that the 13th amendment said that if you’re a “criminal,” you can [legally] be a slave. So all that information, I’m still continuing to learn. It’s been an awakening for the country. This is part of American history and the same way we teach our kids about the people who came to revolutionize this country, we need to teach them about slavery too. We need to teach them about slavery and how that ties into where we are now. If they can see that, they would be able to put two and two together and start functioning differently. Your name has become more and more synonymous with “wokeness” in a sense since your involvement in Selma a few years back. How do you feel that movie experience prepared you for projects like 13th and even placing some of the messages you have in your latest album? Well, Selma was definitely one of the moments that changed my life forever. One of the greatest experiences of my life. One of the reasons is being introduced to the Civil Rights Movement in another way. It’s more than just researching and reading it in textbooks. You’re talking to people. Ambassador Andrew Young came and had a talk the first day of our rehearsal and said “What are you willing to die for? Live for that.” He said that was the whole mentality of the people of the Civil Rights movement. “We’re willing to die for freedom, so we’re going to live for freedom. We’re dedicating each day toward that.” One of the practical things I was able to connect with was the fact that each and every person that was a part of that movement, each day they contributed something towards fighting for that freedom. They dedicated their lives to saying “okay, some part of my day will be dedicated towards that.” I felt like, I have been doing things and putting my spirit and energy into wanting to see change, but I had to do more. I had to contribute my days into being more active and more present — not only in the music. So then, aside from the music, what ways did you begin pursuing to be more active? That made me think about things, and question how can I use my creativity not only towards the art that I’m doing that is socio-political work, but how can I use my mind towards these communities. So that made me start going into communities and start to listen and made me more political than I had ever been. Before I would think — “Okay, I need to vote for the president.” And “I’ll vote for this person I know about.” But now, I need to know. If I have a problem with police injustice and police killing Black people, I need to know what things I can do policy-wise to help change things. Who is the person that selects the police chief? Who is the person that sets up the training for the policemen in this state and that state? Not that I’m going to know everything, but even if it’s connecting with groups that do know, so that I can get that information and see how I can contribute my name, celebrity, whatever access I have, and creativity towards that change. What action has 13th pushed you to take? With this movie, I’ll put it this way: If I’m going to talk it and rap it, I’ll have to be it. So I will be at somebody’s prison — just building with brothers and sisters about getting out and what life will be like getting out and trying to provide help in that way. I even realized this morning from Kim Fox, the State’s Attorney of Chicago — she comes from Cabrini-Green in Chicago so she’s for the people, she comes from it — she says one of the biggest issues is, they don’t assist people when they’re about to get out of jail, so when they come out, they’re shocked. And it’s hard to get jobs, hard to get housing, you can’t vote in certain places, so then you feel second-class, and then you end up going back to that same cycle. So, if someone has been convicted of a crime, when they’re about to get out, when do we start training them to work on that? I want to help with figuring that out. Nice! Great to see a celeb taking his influence and really focusing on making a positive impact with it, right? Have YOU taken a listen to “Black America Again?” What did you think? Splash
