Casey Anthony Wins Appeal of Two Convictions For Lying to Police

Two of Casey Anthony’s four convictions for lying to authorities during the investigation into her daughter Caylee‘s disappearance have been dismissed, according to reports. Casey’s legal team appeared on her behalf in the 5th District Court of Appeals in Florida to appeal all four convictions and ask that they be thrown out. A panel of judges found that two of the four convictions should be tossed because they constituted double jeopardy – dual convictions of the same crime. The state argued that double jeopardy wasn’t a valid reason to reject any convictions because each false statement to law-enforcement was a separate offense. Ultimately both arguments were rejected, but the appeal court found that Casey Anthony , 26, could only be rightly convicted on two of the counts on merit. Now that the appeals have been settled, Zenaida Gonzalez‘s civil lawsuit against Casey for claiming she was a nanny that kidnapped Caylee can proceed. Casey claimed that “Zanny the Nanny” made off with her toddler; Gonzalez, a woman by that name, is now suing her for defamation as a result of the lie. Anthony was recently spotted at a steak house , one of the few times she has been seen outside of hiding in the 18 months since her murder acquittal.

Sarah Palin: Out at Fox News

Sarah Palin and Fox News have agreed to part ways. The former Vice Presidential nominee signed a three-year contract with the network in January 2010, reportedly for $1 million per year, and has offered up her analysis of current events ever since. Most recently, she blasted President Obama for winning Time Person of the Year and slammed his handling of the Fiscal Cliff situation. It was the one issue on which Palin and Obama disagreed. Just kidding. Executive Bill Shine says the network wishes Palin all the “best in her future endeavors,” but there were signs that tension grew over the years between the ex-politician and Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes. He was quoted by The Associated Press in 2011 as saying “I hired Sarah Palin because she was hot and got ratings.” Karl Rove, meanwhile, recently renewed his contract at Fox through the 2016 election. No word yet on what Palin will do next, but there’s little doubt that producers at Dancing with the Stars are burning up the Alaskan phone lines as we type.

Matrimony-dom: Kandi Burruss Says She Is Not Jumping The Broom With Todd Until He Signs A Pre-Nup!

Don’t quit your job just yet Toddy! Kandi Burruss Says She Believes In Pre-Nups Before Marriage Via Bravo Just last week, RHOA Kandi Burruss announced that she was officially engaged to her producer-boo Todd Tucker. A few hours ago, Kandi took to her Bravo RHOA blog to talk about her excitement in planning her dream wedding and who she will, or will not, be inviting. Well, if you haven’t heard I’m engaged! That wasn’t on any of the episodes. That just happened on New Years. Todd popped the question. I was shocked to find out that at the same time Gregg popped the question to NeNe! Congratulations to them! I guess love was in the air for the beginning of 2013. We all are starting our year off right. I am happy, excited, and curious about what the future holds for me and my family. I have so much to think about now, so much to prepare for. I’m clueless. We don’t know if we want a destination wedding, or if we want to do it in Atlanta. Do we want a big wedding or a small intimate one? Do we even want a wedding? Should we just get married privately and do a big reception? Well, I think I’ve axed that one out already. I think we’ll do a more intimate one, but if we did it in Atlanta, that’s not going to happen. It would turn into a HUGE wedding, because I have way too many family, friends, and people in general that I know, who would be offended if they’re not invited. Hmm… this is going to be crazy. I guess I’ll have to get advice from the other ladies in our circle. One interesting topic that the Xscape chanteuse touched on candidly was her belief in prenuptial agreements. This part is for you Todd. Since I’m newly engaged, I’m going to touch on a couple of things in the last couple of episodes that would be related to marriage and family. First I’ll go back to my conversation with Porsha about pre-nups. I do believe in pre-nups. I know that some people feel if you are truly in love and are planning to be dedicated to your marriage that a pre-nup somehow means the person requesting the pre-nup is expecting the marriage to fail. I don’t agree. I feel like it’s a safety precaution. Just like if you have a fire extinguisher in your home it doesn’t mean you expect it to burn down, but you’re just prepared to put out the fire before it starts if need be. I’ve had friends and associates who didn’t get a pre-nup say “they didn’t need one,” “she or he would never do that,” etc. But then later when they got divorced, things got ugly, and the person tried to get everything, they were like, “I would have never thought they would have done that to me,” “she or he is not the person I married,” blah, blah, blah. I feel like people do some crazy and vindictive things when they’re hurt, so I think there should be agreements set in place while everyone is thinking clearly. That way if D-day ever comes (and hopefully it won’t, but if it does), then it doesn’t have to get uglier and more hurtful than it already is. I hope Porsha and Kordell’s marriage lasts for a lifetime, but I will say that I was shocked when she told me that they didn’t do a pre-nup. I don’t know why I was shocked, but I was. Well, some people like things the good ol’ fashion way, and there’s nothing wrong with that. To each his own! Well damn Kandi… Hit the flip to see what Kandi had to say about Wendy Williams and where she can go stick her 2 cents! Image via Instgram

AshLee Frazier: The Bachelor Front-Runner?

Lesley Murphy may have set a world record with Sean Lowe on The Bachelor last night, but the week truly belonged to AshLee Frazier. There were plenty of losers Monday night. AshLee Frazier was the opposite, grabbing Sean’s attention with her good looks – and back story. “There was something different about her that really made me take notice and I knew I wanted to spend more time with her,” says Sean in his blog . Sean says that he knew Ash would “share that compassion” he feels with Brianna and Emily, “the two girls who both suffer from chronic illnesses.” “I’m involved with two pediatric cancer foundations back home in Dallas, 1 Million 4 Anna and Micaela’s Army, and so this date pulled at my heartstrings.” “The day with Ashlee and the girls at Six Flags was incredible! We had so much fun and I took the most joy from watching how happy Emily and Brianna were.” “Their smiles made my heart melt.” Later, he says, Sean and AshLee “had time alone we needed to talk and really connect. She told me the story of her childhood and about the abuse she suffered.” “I don’t usually cry, but hearing her describe the day she met her father and how he told her he would love her forever brought me to tears.” “It was at that point that I understood where AshLee’s compassion comes from and I had a whole new appreciation for the person that she is.” “We finished the night dancing in front of one of my favorite bands, the Eli Young Band, and ended the evening with a very, very romantic kiss.” “AshLee quickly became a frontrunner and I knew I could fall in love with her.” As for that Guinness Record date with Lesley Murphy? “She was the perfect choice because I felt so comfortable around her from the beginning,” says Sean. “Women like Lesley are hard to find.” “She is not just sexy, smart and funny, but she’s also really easy to be around. I felt like I had known Lesley for years and it had only been two weeks.” “I thought kissing for more than three minutes would be awkward, especially since it took place on Hollywood Boulevard and in front of a crowd of people.” “But it wasn’t really. Time flew by and it was much more passionate than I thought it would be. I think that speaks to the chemistry we share.” Not everything went so smoothly last night, however. “I had no idea that there was any drama occurring between Amanda and Des, so I was surprised to hear Kacie bring it to my attention,” says Sean. “If I seemed frustrated when talking to Kacie, it’s because I was!” “I had a hard time understanding why Kacie decided to involve herself. After all, neither Amanda nor Des felt like they needed to say something.” “So why did Kacie? I felt like if anyone in the house should grasp the big picture, it was Kacie, yet she wasn’t. At the end of the night, it only felt right to give the rose to Lindsay.” Kacie was sent home as a result, while Lesley and AshLee remain in the hunt. Read The Bachelor spoilers to see how far they make it … if you dare!

Selena Gomez Compares Justin Bieber Romance to "Fairy Tale"

It’s happened again. Similar to the fate that befell Kim Kardashian before her split from Kris Humphries – and Kristen Stewart prior to her break-up from Robert Pattinson – Selena Gomez is featured in the new issue of Nylon , gushing over her relationship with Justin Bieber. Which is now over, of course. “I’m having fun,” the 20-year-old said weeks ago when the interview was taped. “At the end of the day, love is such a normal thing, and everyone deals with it. Just because it’s a different lifestyle doesn’t change the meaning of what I’ve been raised on, which is fairy tales.” That fairy tale is now kaput, of course, as sources confirm Gomez and Bieber have split – and this time, it’s for good. The former was even spotted getting close to Luke Bracey a few days ago. Elsewhere in the interview, Gomez touches on Taylor Swift, her new movie and more… On her friendship with Swift : “We both experienced the same things at the same time. But we’ve never once talked about our industry. She just became the person I’d go to for an issue with my family or boyfriend. It’s so hard to trust girls, so I’m lucky to have her.” On her innocence : While filming Spring Breakers , “I had to have someone show me how to hold the cigarette.” On this mature movie role : “I know it isn’t for the younger generation I have following me, but I’m also about to be 21. I felt like it was my little side project that I was super excited about, that would be under the radar.”

In Young And Thuggin’ White Folks News: Justin “Blaze It Up” Bieber Being Sued By His Former Bodyguard For Alleged Assault And $420,000

Somebody is having the worst week ever… Justin Bieber Being Sued For Allegedly Assaulting His Former Bodyguard Justin Bieber might just be having the worst 2013 ever…..and we’re not even two weeks in to the year. First photos surfaced last week of the Biebs piff-puffin’ with his friends….then his off-again boo-thang Selena Gomez kicked him to the curb for good ….and now a former bodyguard is slamming him with a lawsuit to the tune of $400K+. via TMZ Justin Bieber beat the crap out of one of his Israeli bodyguards … and berated the former soldier after a disagreement … this according to a new lawsuit. Biebs — who’s 5’7″ and MAYBE 130 lbs — is being sued by Moshe Benabou, an ex-member of the Israeli army. According to Benabou — who claims he worked for the singer from March 2011 to Oct. 2012 — JB berated him and punched him in the chest multiple times during a disagreement about how to handle a member of Bieber’s entourage. Benabou is seeking unspecified damages for assault and battery — and more than $420,000 in unpaid overtime. But sources in Bieber’s camp tell TMZ … Moshe is nothing more than a “disgruntled employee looking for money.” They say the claim that Bieber struck him is “absurd.” As for why Moshe was fired, our sources say he told multiple lies including a big one — that he had worked closely with Justin Timberlake before being hired by Bieber. Our sources say it was discovered that he never worked for JT a day in his life. You may recall, Benabou was the guy who got into a physical confrontation with a photog at LAX back in February. After a brief struggle, both men fell to the ground … and Benabou landed a pretty solid punch while the pap was being restrained by another person. Daaayyyuum. Guess all that time with the money team must have gone to his head….

Zombie Foreclosures: "Undead" Titles Pillaging US Homeowners

Zombie foreclosures. This bizarre term refers to a bizarre, little-known but very real horror of the U.S. housing bust that is crippling homeowners coast to coast, six years in. Thousands are finding themselves legally liable for houses they didn’t know they still owned after banks decided it wasn’t worth their while to complete foreclosures. With impunity, banks walk away from foreclosures much the way some homeowners walked away from their mortgages when the housing market first crashed. “The banks are just deciding not to foreclose, even though the homeowners never caught up with their payments,” says Daren Blomquist, vice president at RealtyTrac. Since 2006, 10 million homes have fallen into foreclosure, a number that in earlier, more stable times would have taken nearly two decades to reach. Of those foreclosures, more than 2 million have never come out. In cases where homeowners moved out after receiving notice of a foreclosure sale, thinking they were leaving the house in bank hands, we see the zombie situation. Dozens of housing court judges, code enforcement officials, lawyers and other professionals involved in foreclosures say these titles number in the many thousands. No national databases track zombie titles. “There are thousands of foreclosures in limbo, just hanging out there, just sitting, with nothing being done,” says Cleveland Housing Court Judge Raymond Pianka. The surge is due largely to homes vacated by people who fled before an imminent foreclosure sale, only to learn later that they remain legally responsible for their house. When people move out after receiving a notice of a planned foreclosure sale and the bank then cancels, municipalities are left to deal with the mess. Some spend public funds on securing, cleaning and stabilizing houses that generate no tax revenue. Others let the houses rot, as we’ve seen many times. In at least three states in recent months, houses abandoned by owners and banks alike have exploded because the gas was never shut off. Unsuspecting homeowners nationwide have had their wages garnished, their credit destroyed and their tax refunds seized – all due to zombie titles. They’ve opened their mail to find bills for back taxes, graffiti-scrubbing services, demolition crews, trash removal, gutter repair, exterior cleaning and lawn clipping. At their front doors they’ve encountered bailiffs brandishing summonses. In some cities, people with zombie titles can be sentenced to probation – with the threat of jail if they don’t bring their houses into compliance. If you think this could be happening to you, or for more information on this dubious but very real situation, continue reading this foreclosure explanation .

Newtown Conspiracy Theory: Professor Won’t Back Down Amid Backlash

A media professor at Florida Atlantic University won’t apologize for questioning the Sandy Hook school massacre, but denies he is fostering a conspiracy theory. James Tracy wrote on his personal blog that believes the events that unfolded in the Newtown, Conn., elementary school did not happen as we think – if at all. James Tracy Newtown Conspiracy Theory “While it sounds outrageous, one is left to inquire whether the Sandy Hook shooting ever took place,” he writes, suggesting Newtown didn’t happen as reported. He suggests there were multiple shooters and that the number of dead is incorrect, and that the government may have brought in actors to add drama. Tracy opines that “media coverage of the massacre of 26 children and adults was intended primarily for public consumption to further larger political ends.” The academic, also known for questioning authority and media regarding 9/11, the Oklahoma City bombing and the Aurora massacre, is not backing off either. When questioned about his theories by a local news reporter, Tracy responded: “The whole country mourned about Sandy Hook, but yet again the investigation that journalistic institutions should have carried out never took place, in my opinion.” The 47-year-old added that, “As a society we need to look at things more carefully. Perhaps we as a society have been conditioned to be duped.” Speaking on behalf of Tracy, Peter Phillips, president of the Media Freedom Foundation and Project Censored, said in a statement to Yahoo News: “James Tracy isn’t promoting a ‘conspiracy’ theory regarding Sandy Hook, but rather saying the media distorts the news, and doesn’t follow up on important questions.” “There were reports of more than one shooter in the Sandy Hook case.” “Tracy is not denying that it happened, but he is saying that when such events do happen it is the responsibility of the media to fully investigate all aspects of the story.” The media sensationalizing tragedies is certainly a worthwhile topic, but if that’s all he meant to imply … why not just write what that statement laid out?
