Joe Jonas Talks Girlfriend Ashley Greene, New Solo Album

‘It feels good. I think what works about it is she really puts my feelings first,’ Jonas tells Details about current flame. By Jocelyn Vena Joe Jonas on the cover of Details Photo: Details Joe Jonas had everyone buzzing when he announced he was working on a solo album, like his little brother Nick did before him. And just like when Nick announced his project, fans were wondering if this meant the end for the Jonas Brothers. In the new issue of Details magazine, Joe is quick to point out that he has not left his brothers behind. “We’re not breaking up, we’re just taking a break,” he explained. “I really have a hope for the fans that got older and went, ‘You know what, I’m really not into the Jonas Brothers anymore,’ that I’m able to catch their ear again with my project and they’re able to go like, ‘Hey, this is cool stuff, I’m happy listening to this, I’m not embarrassed listening to this.’ “I’m growing up, the fans are growing up. I’ve gone through a lot of stuff in my life so far. There are stories I haven’t really been able to tell,” he continued. “When you’re writing with three people, you wind up with a sound that might be — not average — but, you know, expected. I wanted to do something you could hear in a club or something you could dance to, something that’s fun — something that’s me.” Jonas added that he’s getting personal on this album and will release his first single within the month. “I think all artists have a right to write about what happens to them,” Joe said, noting that he’ll sing about “different love scenarios that I’ve been through, breakups, hurts. Me hurting somebody and feeling bad about it. I think there’s a lot of scenarios where people might wanna hear my side of the story.” No word on whether his current girlfriend, “Twilight Saga” star Ashley Greene , will have any songs about her on the album, but she certainly seems to have made a dent in his life. “It feels good. I think what works about it is she really puts my feelings first. She understands my busy schedule,” he said in the issue. “She’ll fly out to my shows — she’s been to places in South America that I can’t even pronounce.” He even shows some love to his former flame Demi Lovato . The pair broke up last year and she’s on the mend after dealing with some personal issues. Jonas has this message for her: “I wish her the best.” But Joe isn’t just talking about those two ladies. He debunks all the rumors about him being gay, saying, “There’s nothing wrong with being gay, but I’m not.” He added that he had his heart broken in a pre-Greene world. “I won’t say her name,” he said. “But I was in a relationship, and we tried to work things out, and she, you know — I was really upset because she — she broke up with me.” Related Artists Jonas Brothers

Rihanna Talks Curves In Vogue

‘I actually like my body, even if it’s not perfect according to the book,’ star says. By Jocelyn Vena Rihanna on the April cover of Vogue Photo: Vogue Donning a sparkly nude gown and cascading red curls, Rihanna graces the cover of the April “shape issue” of Vogue. In the magazine, she opens up about her changing style, which has evolved from generic pop star to flame-haired pop icon. She admits that even before her chart-topping days, she always wanted to stand out from the crowd. “When I was fourteen and first started going out, I always wanted to be the opposite of everyone else,” she explained in the interview. “So I would go to the club in a polo T-shirt and pants and sneakers and a hat on backward, just so I would not be dressed like other girls. And I got desperate for things that weren’t available in Barbados. I would cut things out of magazines. I was obsessed with creating a visual with clothing, and the way things are combined.” Rihanna admits that now, like then, it’s always about taking it to the next level when it comes to the visual component of her persona. “It’s become more about taking a risk. When I am putting looks together, I dare myself to make something work. I always look for the most interesting silhouette or something that’s a little off, but I have to figure it out. I have to make it me,” she said. “I think that’s the thrill in fashion.” The first big step came when she made the transition with her hair, going from soft, standard pop styling to the now-infamous choppy short ‘do she rocked in the “Umbrella” video. She said, “When I cut my hair, the whole sound changed, my style changed.” Given that she appears in the “shape issue,” Rihanna also talked about her famous va-va-voom figure, admitting that she only recently began to appreciate it. “Over the holidays, and even during filming [“Battleship”], I realized that I actually like my body, even if it’s not perfect according to the book. I just feel sexy. For the first time, I don’t want to get rid of the curves. I just want to tone it up,” she said. “My body is comfortable, and it’s not unhealthy, so I’m going to rock with it.” Related Photos Rihanna Takes You To Paradise In Vogue Related Artists Rihanna

Lady Gaga vs. Britney Spears: Who Will Rule 2011?

As she announced earlier via pants-less Twitter pic, Lady Gaga has a new album out this spring. But she’ll have some serious competition as she looks to cement her place as the reigning queen of pop music and culture: Britney Spears. Gaga’s single, “Born This Way,” is due out next month, with her album of the same name set for May. Britney’s album is scheduled for a March release. Which pop queen will conquer music in 2011? Which bombshell will rise to the top of the heap? Can they deliver truly cutting-edge music or will they rely on their persona to carry them forward? On top of musical similarities, the two have rabid fan bases (Gaga, Justin Bieber and Britney have the most Twitter fans worldwide, in that order). While Gaga’s image is unique and experimental, she’s still so new to the scene that it’s hard to know what to expect in terms of her musical style. The same is true, oddly enough, of Britney. Despite being a seasoned vet, she’s so micromanaged that musically, she’s now a veritable blank slate. These new Britney song lyrics were leaked, but would anything she does fail to satisfy her fans? Spears is as bulletproof as they come in this era. Because The Fame was so groundbreaking and so fresh, the pressure is more on Gaga to produce something of comparable cultural significance. Both will rack up huge sales because people are invested in them . Even if the albums are merely average, fans want them to succeed as people. But if either superstar comes out with an album that’s edgy, catchy, different and brilliant on its own merit, that’s who will rule the year in music. What do you think? Whose album will fare better this year?

Justin Long Shares His ‘Die Hard 5’ Ideas

‘It’s going to be Gabourey Sidibe and Bruce teaming up, finally,’ Long jokes. By Kara Warner Justin Long Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images The last time we heard any news on “Die Hard 5,” Bruce Willis assured us that an official green-light for the film was “imminent.” Given that small but hopeful tidbit, when we caught up with Willis’ “Live Free or Die Hard” co-star Justin Long recently, we had to ask whether or not the “Going the Distance” star had yet been approached to reprise his role in the fifth film. “I had a meeting recently at Fox about doing a romantic [comedy],” Long recalled. “And the guy in the office next door, he was in charge of the new ‘Die Hard,’ [so] I said, ‘Do you mind if I pop my head in?’ So I met him and I was like, ‘Ummm?’ ” the actor explained, gesturing with his hands in a motion that suggested “What about me?” “He was equally vague in his gesture back to me,” Long said. “So I didn’t get a good feeling that I was going to be a part of the imminent ‘Die Hard.’ I don’t know if I’m going to get my hands on it.” He added, “I would love to.” Whether the film happens with or without Long is still up for debate. Regardless, Long offered up some unique ideas regarding a possible storyline for the fifth film. “For a while, there was talk of, they were going to combine ‘Die Hard’ with ’24,’ ” Long said. “It was going to be Kiefer Sutherland’s character in it [to which we responded with a very suspicious, raised brow]. I’m not kidding!” Long insisted. “I think there was a script that had been imminent,” he said seriously — and then veered off course completely. “Now it’s going to be ‘Die Preciously Hard,’ so it’s going to be Gabourey Sidibe and Bruce teaming up, finally,” Long joked. Perfect. Bruce Willis and Gabourey Sidibe in a “Die Hard” movie … it’s about time! “That’s what the fans are saying, it’s about time! It’s ‘Die Hard Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire.’ ” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

50 Cent’s Twitter Tirades Hit Jay-Z, Diddy, Shaq

G-Unit general tells Mixtape Daily Ice Cube inspires him to experiment with different mediums By Shaheem Reid 50 Cent Photo: Getty Images/Jakubaszek Celebrity Favorites: 50 Cent Ah. It was but just three years ago around this time, VMA time, when the nation was divided: Kanye West or 50 Cent. Both were dropping albums on September 11. Fast-forward to 2010 — the hip-hop nation is once again forced to decide. This time, though, it’s not about music; it’s about who sends the most interesting tweets. Both ‘Ye and 50 caught on to Twitter later than most people, but they have made up for it in impact. Kanye usually tweets about what’s going on in his life, while 50 is unpredictable, taking a comedic stance in many instances. Monday, the G-Unit general went on Twitter overload, writing about everything from squashing his quarrels with Diddy and Jay-Z to playing new music for Eminem and having sex with a woman he says also slept with Shaquille O’Neal. “So I saw jayZ backstage at the show,” he wrote, “so I say What’s up n—a we gone kill each other or what he like And fuck up the money I aint witIt lol.” Regarding Chairman Combs, he wrote, “I talk to puffy he said n—a da shit you be doing is bad for business we can make a lot of money together. so that’s the last puffy hit lol.” Last week in Detroit, before getting onstage with Eminem at the second of the Motor City shows in Comerica Park, Fif explained his tweet tirades. “You know what’s interesting? I look at that platform as another place to express yourself in a different way, to entertain,” he said. “Not necessarily to create a perception of your actual character, but to be entertaining. When other people used it, it was boring because they were trying to be safe, be politically correct. They gave you the presentation they were taught to give you after they were prepped for publicity. What I gave you was some of the things I’ve seen that were entertaining topic-wise — things that made me laugh. I think it’s healthy to smile. Even though I may have the persona as one of the darkest people in hip-hop culture, you seen me smile as often as — probably more often as — somebody you seen placed in that category.” Fif also cited Ice Cube as an influence — not necessarily as a muse for Twitter, but for expressing himself differently in a multiple of mediums. “Ice Cube is one of my favorites,” he said. “I admire what he’s done with his life and career. But when you look at every Ice Cube CD, it’s the same photo [a scowl]. He’s fixin’ to kill you.” “I understand, because the tone of the music matches that expression,” he continued. “But, that’s entertainment versus what you see him doing in ‘Lottery Ticket,’ doing other things to express himself in a different platform. That allows him to be successful in a different way.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines or follow the Mixtape Daily team on Twitter: @shaheemreid and @mongosladenyc . Tom Cruise to Robert Pattinson: Don’t Effin Change!

In 2008, Tom Cruise tried to become a box office star again by starring in a drama ( Valkyrie ) based around Hitler and the Nazis. Bad idea. A couple years later, the slightly insane movie star has come up with a far more effective plan: appear in a MTV Movie Awards promo with Robert Pattinson. In the hilarious video below, Cruise takes on the persona of Len Grossman, the foul-mouthed Hollywood producer he portrayed in Tropic Thunder . When the Twilight Saga stud informs Grossman that he might actually wash hair for the MTV event, Grossman goes off on him, screaming: “Your filthy hair made you a star! Your filthy hair sent my fat-*ss kid to Space Camp four times!” It’s great stuff. Watch now: MTV Movie Awards Promo The MTV Movie Awards will air on June 6. Rihanna’s ‘Rockstar 101’: A Pop-Culture Cheat Sheet

From Slash to Nine Inch Nails, there are references galore in Rihanna’s clip. By James Montgomery and Kyle Anderson Rihanna in her “Rockstar 101” video Photo: Def Jam Rihanna’s just-released “Rockstar 101” video is arty and sexy and all of that, but it’s perhaps most notable for the questions it poses. Like, how does one affix giant horns to their head? Is there a proper technique for smashing a guitar? Or, most importantly, since when did Slash become a total babe? Yes, there’s much to ponder in the video — so much that it requires repeated viewings to digest. And since we’ve spent the majority of the day doing just that, we’ve also noticed a lot of things in the clip that seem familiar. So, as we’ve done in the past for the likes of Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera , we decided to give “Rockstar” the Pop Culture Cheat Sheet treatment. Here’s a list of all the things that flashed by our eyes, alphabetized for your perusing pleasure. Oh, and though we’re thorough, we’re sure there’s something we missed along the way — feel free to let us know about it in the comments below. Here’s what you might have missed in Rihanna’s “Rockstar 101” video: Barker, Travis : Tattooed beat-keeper for Blink-182 (and your favorite rapper, too). This one’s actually pretty obvious, as Barker makes roughly a bajillion cameos in the “Rock Star” clip, playing drums with Rihanna’s band. He actually taught RiRi how to play drums , too, and told MTV News about it back in March. Bj
