R.I.P. Comedic Icon And Actress Joan Rivers Dead At Age 81

The writing was on the wall Joan Rivers Pronounced Dead At Mt Sinai Hospital Via Variety Raunchy, gravelly-voiced and self-deprecating comedian Joan Rivers, who rose from Greenwich Village standup to occasional host of “The Tonight Show” and star of TV’s “Fashion Police,” died Thursday after going into cardiac arrest during a medical procedure on Sept. 3. She was 81. “She passed peacefully at 1:17pm surrounded by family and close friends,” her daughter, Melissa, said in a statement. “My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon.” Rivers had been admitted to New York’s Mt. Sinai hospital after she stopped breathing during a procedure on her vocal cords at a New York Clinic, and was placed in a medically-induced coma to assess her condition. A petite blonde firebrand, the always-wry Rivers, known for the catchphrase “Can we talk?,” was a pioneering confessional female comic, lampooning her personal life (her parents, her marriage, her plastic surgery) on TV and in clubs for more than five decades. Whatever the gig — permanent replacement host on “The Tonight Show,” co-host of “Fashion Police,” her own varied syndicated talkshows, Vegas engagements, bestselling nonfiction books, often biting commentator on awards’ show arrivals along with daughter Melissa and even QVC saleswoman — the petite, feisty Rivers was never far out of the spotlight. Her biting comedy, ability to ad-lib effortlessly in any situation and sheer moxie endeared her to generations of television viewers. She was the ultimate yenta, the quintessential kibbitzer — a talent exemplified in her scathing commentary on E!’s “Fashion Police.” Rivers started co-hosting the show in 2010 along with Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and George Kotsiopoulos. While many have lacked any sort of empathy for Joan and her family, she will certainly be missed by many Hollyweird and and beyond. Rest In Peace, Joan Rivers. Image via WENN

More Jessica Alba Bikini Pictures

So I’ve got some good news and some bad news for you guys today. The good is that Jessica Alba is still on that bikini vacation of hers, and we’ve even got some drool-worthy booty shots of her playing in the water today. The bad is that she still hasn’t reenacted her famous bikini ass pose for the paps or invited me out to join them as her personal sunscreen applier, and I’m starting to worry that neither of those things might happen this trip. Oh well. I guess there’s always next year. Photos: Fameflynet Continue reading

We Broke It Here First: New Oxygen Show “Sisterhood Of Hip Hop” Super Teaser (Guest Starring Eve) [Video]

To introduce the up-and-coming stars of hip hop, Oxygen will air a preview special on Tuesday, July 22 at 8:15 PM ET/PT, giving viewers a look at what makes these five women worthy of the sisterhood. With Grammy-Award winning recording artist T.I. serving as Executive Producer, along with Christian Sarabia, Rabih Gholam and Roy Orecchio, this new series gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the music business and what happens when women want to change the game to root for each other and not against each other. Despite the sacrifices they often make in their personal lives, these “femcees” are determined to succeed, but not at the cost of the sisterhood they have built while overcoming the barriers and challenges that come with a rise to stardom. Meet the Cast: BIA @BiaBrokeMyHeart A breaking new artist from Miami who sacrificed everything to follow her dreams and better learn her craft from Famlay and Pharrell, Bia is the new girl on the scene. Ever since she was in a life-threatening motorcycle accident, Bia has taken life by the bullhorns and refused to let go. She’s dropped everything for her music and is confident it will pay off. Being on Pharrell’s team has allowed her to be in the right place at the right time landing placements with TI, Jennifer Hudson, and Usher. Although she has gained the respect of Pharell’s co-sign, Bia knows that all eyes are on her and she’s got to deliver. Rarely do you get more than one shot – especially as a female emcee in this industry. BRIANNA PERRY @BriannatheYRB Brianna Perry has been around the music business for as long as she can remember and is ready to show the world what a lifetime of hip hop education can do for your career. Brianna’s skills have been recognized by top artists like Beyonce, Trina and Missy Elliot and she’s been praised by press outlets such as The New York Times, Time Magazine, Complex, Vibe, The Source, XXL, and The Miami Herald for her unorthodox style. Brianna is going to do more than tell the world what she is capable of, she is going to show them with her debut album. The gorgeous MC has charisma, style, and even dance skill to go along with her lyrical talent. Describing her own music as “refreshing, young and relatable to her fans,” Brianna is restoring innocence to the female rap game and she refuses to compromise the femininity and the edge she needs to survive in today’s hip hop world. DIAMOND @DiamondAtl Diamond enjoyed the sweet taste of success at age 14 with her former crew, Crime Mob, whose track “Knuck If You Buck” went platinum in 2004. Signed to King Of Crunk mentor Lil Jon’s label BME, the group’s success continued with the singles “Rock Yo Hips ft Lil Scrappy” and “Stilettoes.” Since leaving Crime Mob in 2007 to strike out on her own, she has worked with hip hop luminaries such as Ludacris, Trina, Eve, Waka Flocka Flame and Gucci Mane. Her singles “Lotta Money” and “Loose Screws” left enough of an impression to make her a nominee for “Best Female Hip Hop Artist” at the 2011 and 2012 BET Awards. In 2014, she signed to Polo Grounds Music joining a roster that includes Pitbull & A$AP Rocky, and with the release of her debut solo album this year, Diamond hopes to climb back to the top of the charts, a decade after Crime Mob made waves in the hip hop scene. NYEMIAH SUPREME @NyemiahSupreme Jamaica, Queens native Nyemiah Supreme began her career as a back-up dancer in the shadows of such well-known acts as Chris Brown and Lil Mama. After high school, she spent a year and a half working as Juelz Santana’s intern, where she got to see some of hip hop’s most notable names drop beats and rhymes in a studio setting. Inspired by her experience and a serendipitous encounter with Jim Jones, she got a break when she was asked to step up to the mic on Jones’ single “Everybody Jones.” In late 2012, Nyemiah had a late night chance studio meeting with super producer Timbaland, where he put her on the spot to write a few verses and from there took her under his wing. Today, Nyemiah has two mix-tapes under her belt, a new EP, and over half a million views on her YouTube videos. She released her single, “Rock ‘n’ Roll” with Timbaland appearing on the hook, handling the production, and appearing in the video back-to-back with Nyemiah. A former background dancer thrust to the foreground, Nyemiah Supreme stands a serious chance of having a career that lives up to her bold moniker but has a lot to prove to herself, her mentor and her fans. SIYA @SIYA Born in California and raised in Bed-Stuy, a legendary Brooklyn hotbed of influential hip hop music, Siya overcame many challenges early on including a drug-addicted mother and incarcerated father, as well as her own run-ins with the law. Siya’s true support came from her grandmother who took her in, but also from the streets of Bed-Stuy. Music became an outlet for her and after moving to Atlanta to pursue her dream, she eventually built a rep for herself and caught the attention of many major labels and well-known artists. While some people in the industry were afraid of how an openly gay female rapper would fit in the genre, Siya remained determined and refused to compromise who she is, always staying true to her own unique voice and style. One of Complex magazine’s rappers to watch out for in 2012, word around the industry is that Siya is the next big thing. “Sisterhood of Hip Hop” is produced by 51 Minds with Christian Sarabia, T.I., Rabih Gholam and Roy Orecchio serving as Executive Producers. Bindi Irwin to Teenagers: Cover Yourselves Up! Stop Trying to Dress Older!

Watch out, Kylie Jenner , you’re on notice. Bindi Irwin is making headlines this week for espousing modesty in teenage fashions. What a concept. In an interview with News Corp, a discussion of her personal style turned into the late Steve Irwin’s daughter commenting on teenagers’ fashion choices. She said: Bindi Irwin Criticizes Girls Who Show Too Much Skin “For me, I look around at a lot of young girls my age and they’re always trying to dress older. Whether it’s revealing clothes or hardly wearing any clothes at all, I feel really bad for them.” “A lot of times I want to grab these girls and say ‘look, in 10 years you’ll regret this . Just dress like who you are. Don’t try so hard. A pair of jeans and a T-shirt is just as gorgeous.” Not only that, it “even makes you look classier.” Or so this 15-year-old believes. Fans obviously reacted quickly and furiously to her comments. Popular Australian actress Caitlin Stasey, 24, responded on Twitter: “Open letter to Bindi Irwin, in ten years you’ll wish you stood beside your shared sex rather than be proud you belittled their choices & agency.” Caitlin’s tweet received plenty of hateful responses, to which Stasey responded, “Hey, to all coming to her defence by claiming she’s ‘only’ a child.” “Quit being so goddamn patronizing [sic]. An opinion is an opinion, and one aired publicly encourages discourse. People listen to her, the media is championing her.” “And I think her opinion, in this case, is damaging [It’s] less about her comments, more about the fact that our media is subscribing to and promoting them as truths.” “Using a young woman as a prop for your conservative agenda is truly appalling,” she continues, saying the media is oversimplifying the debate. That’s undoubtedly true, as is the fact that Irwin was likely goaded into discussing the issue for precisely this reason. But her message isn’t all terrible. Maybe if other young stars heeded her advice … this wouldn’t happen: 13 Disney Stars Gone Wild 1. Lindsay Lohan How many times has Lindsay Lohan been in rehab? Jail? The bigger and cuter they are as children, the harder they fall, apparently.

Dads Respond to Frozen, Never-Ending Loop of Movie Soundtrack

The Frozen epidemic reached epic proportions over the weekend: Pearl Jam actually covered Let It Go during a concert in Milan. As a result of this never-ending influx of the Disney smash – from its incessant playing at home to its soundtrack taking over your car stereo every time you leave home – Ryan O’Quinn and Todd Wilkerson have recorded a video that perfectly sums up the frustrations of fathers everywhere. The footage depicts the irritation, begrudging acceptance and, finally, the affection parents have for the film, concluding in the song’s final verse: “And I know somewhere Walt Disney/Is smiling in his grave. ‘Cause while I’m filling up his pockets, while I’m driving up his profits/He’s driving me insane!” Dads React to Frozen Soundtrack Amen, right, Dads of America? Frozen, it should be noted, has made over $1.2 billion across the planet. It ranks as the fifth-highest grossing movie everywhere and parents are starting to name their children Elsa . 8 Artists Who Just Can’t “Let It Go” 1. Arnold Schwarzenegger Covers “Let It Go” Arnold Schwarzenegger sort of covers “Let It Go” in this Jimmy Fallon bit. But he definitely ruins it forever.

Bethenny Frankel to Join The View?!

Bethenny Frankel’s talk show was canceled back in February, and the former Real Housewife claimed she was happy it was over, as she felt “diluted” and “constricted” by the daytime chat format. Well, apparently she felt even more diluted and constricted by not getting a paycheck, because new reports indicate that Bethenny is in “serious talks” to join the long-running panel discussion show “The View.” “The View is looking for someone to spice up the show,” a source tells VH1. “Someone with lots of opinions and a big personality and Bethenny is at the top of the list.” As an opinionated, highly vocal co-host with a reality TV background, Frankel would make an ideal replacement for former Survivor contestant Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Hasselbeck left The View last year for a gig at Fox News. Of course, Bethenny may want to wait until things settle down a bit in her personal life before she makes any major professional commitments. Recently, Frankel settled her custody battle with Jason Hoppy after a long, bitter dispute that damaged the reputations of both parties. While Frankel has yet to make any official announcement, a source says that she’s, “very interested in getting back to TV,” adding: “It is the only job she knows. She’s telling friends that she thinks she can save The View.” Real Housewives: Before They Were Reality Stars! 1. Lisa Vanderpump: Before The Real Housewives Aww, Beverly Hills housewife Lisa Vanderpump showed off this sweet flashback photo.
