Daniel Radcliffe Is ‘Phenomenal,’ Elizabeth Olsen Raves

‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ actress is getting ready to star opposite Radcliffe in the thriller ‘Kill Your Darlings.’ By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Cillian Murphy and Elizxabeth Olson Photo: MTV News PARK CITY, Utah — Daniel Radcliffe is no longer just the Boy Who Lived — at this stage, he’s the Man Who Flourished. Indeed, Radcliffe has kept his post-“Potter” career very interesting, what with a turn as a horror lead in next month’s “Woman in Black,” a lengthy run on Broadway in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” and even a hosting stint on “Saturday Night Live” earlier this year. He’s set to keep his fans guessing even further with his next confirmed movie, “Kill Your Darlings,” which tells the tale of how Beat Generation icons Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and Lucien Carr first met — and how that meeting eventually led to murder. Radcliffe plays Ginsberg in the film, and starring opposite him is up-and-coming actress Elizabeth Olsen. The brilliant young star of “Martha Marcy May Marlene” spoke with MTV News about joining the cast of “Kill Your Darlings,” making her admiration for the “Harry Potter” star very well-known. “He is so phenomenal,” Olsen said at the Sundance Film Festival , where she’s repping the paranormal thriller “Red Lights.” “He’s an incredible person. He’s so funny and smart and fun. He’s such a good guy.” Olsen is just one small cog in the greater machine of “Kill Your Darlings,” according to the actress. She said she only appears in “three scenes of that movie” as Edie Parker, girlfriend of Jack Kerouac. “Edie Parker is the one who introduced Ginsberg to Lucien Carr and Jack Kerouac,” she explained of her role. “She’s kind of the glue between them. I’m just there for a few scenes to explain that part of the story. But her personal life is really, really incredible.” The 2012 Sundance Film Festival is officially under way, and the MTV Movies team is on the ground reporting on the hottest stars and the movies everyone will be talking about in the year to come. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Recap: Night of a Thousand Surprises

They’re back. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills have returned to the mainland at last. Can Kim and Kyle keep it together long enough to get through one party? Let’s find out, and break down the tears, in THG’s patented +/- recap! It’s the grand opening party of Lisa’s new lounge at Sur and all of the Housewives are invited. But the real fun comes from the unexpected guests … Lisa’s scrambling with the finishing touches but Sur looks lovely so Plus 8 for a job well done. But as Ken tries to give her a congratulatory hug, she’s too busy to enjoy it and brushes it off. She jokes that Ken can get his cuddle next year. These two are so funny they earn an additional Plus 5 . Everyone starts to arrive and Lisa and Brandi immediately poke fun at one another. Lisa’s just happy Brandi’s wearing more than a string bikini. Brandi goes to flirt with Ken who says he’s much too short for Brandi, especially in her heels. Lisa reminds him he’s also much too married. These three are great when they let their hair down. Plus 10 . Brandi quickly realizes that a waitress at the event was her ex-husband, Eddie’s mistress (no, not LeAnn Rimes ). Well, that’s awkward. Brandi tries to play it off but who wants to be around the woman their husband was screwing around with. Lisa does the right thing and gives the waitress the night off. Plus 7 for quickly diffusing what could have been a bad situation. Lisa’s challenges get more interesting when Cedric shows up. What rock did he crawl out from under and how did he get in? He’s fawning all over Lisa who tells him it’s a private party and he needs to leave. The guy has some nerve but eventually he takes the hint. Kim and Ken take a limo to the party and Kim is flying high in the back seat. She’s picking through the trash and taking off her bra. Ken doesn’t seem to mind. Maybe he likes her better wasted. Minus 12. Kim blames her loopiness on having anxiety and being a Virgo. I don’t think her astrological chart has anything to do with this behavior. She arrives at the party and shows people her personal pink vibrator! Now there’s an ice breaker. I’m not even sure how to give points for that one. Kim whispers to Adrienne that she’s leaving Ken and Adrienne runs to get Kyle. The two sisters find a private table and the tear fest begins. Do these two ever have a conversation that doesn’t end up with one of them crying. Minus 8 . Kim not only laments her disastrous relationship (the one she was praising just a week before) but mentions that she’s three months late! Plus 20 to Kyle who asks if it could be menopause. Honey, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Deniz Koyu Talks Quick Rise Into EDM’s Elite

‘I actually got into dance music quite late,’ German producer tells MTV News. By Adam Stewart Deniz Koyu Photo: MTV News One of dance music’s hottest underground names of 2011 is geared up to be one of dance music’s biggest draws of 2012. For those of you who have not been to a show or listened to a proper comp mix in the past six months, here’s your chance to get acquainted with one of the most talented people in the game, Deniz Koyu . MTV News recently sat down with the German producer while he was on tour with Fedde Le Grand, and even he admits that his ascension to the big league is something he never quite expected. “I actually got into dance music and house music quite late, like 18 or 19,” said Koyu, who recently made MTV News’ list of EDM Rookies to Watch . “Before, I was just into anything, pop music and indie pop also. I was also a huge fan of Daft Punk — maybe this is one of my big influences. Then there was this era with all this disco house stuff, which influenced me as well. Then electro house was big for a short period of time, then it went into progressive house. So yeah, I kind of got influenced by all of this over the past five years.” In that short time, Koyu has turned his personal tastes into thump-tastic tunes with some of the most unique and well-produced tracks you’re likely to find. In fact, less than a month ago, Swedish House Mafia showcased three of his tracks at their highly anticipated Madison Square Garden show , more than any other non-SHM artist in their set. If anything, Koyu’s calling card is his ability to avoid being recognized for any one signature thumbprint or production technique, but rather his uncanny ability to produce

Russell Brand: What’s Next After Katy Perry?

‘Rock of Ages’ and Diablo Cody’s directorial debut should keep the newly single funnyman busy. By Kara Warner Russell Brand in London on Tuesday Photo: Colin MacFarlane / Splash News Russell Brand’s career has never been short on surprises, but his biggest shock yet might have come last week, when he filed for divorce from his wife of one year, Katy Perry . So what does 2012 hold for the newly single actor/comedian? Brand has several projects lined up in his professional life that might help distract him from the recent rockiness in his personal life. The “Get Him to the Greek” and “Arthur” star has a plum role in the star-studded movie musical “Rock of Ages,” which opens June 1. The film — which is a love story told through the “arena rock” stylings of popular ’80s artists like Journey, Pat Benatar, Bon Jovi, Styx and REO Speedwagon — is based on the popular Broadway show. Brand plays the role of Lonny, the film’s narrator and co-club operator, for which he’ll act and sing with castmates Alec Baldwin, Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Akerman and Julianne Hough. After “Ages,” Brand will jump into writer Diablo Cody’s directorial debut , originally called “Lamb of God” but currently listed on IMDb as “Untitled Diablo Cody Project.” Brand is set to star alongside “Ages” co-star Hough in a story of a young conservative religious woman who decides to go to Vegas and “live the life of a sinner” but ends up rediscovering her faith along the way. Brand has also been suggested as a candidate for the role of Tommy Lee in the movie version of Neil Strauss’ M

Anne Hathaway Reveals Catwoman’s Glam Hollywood Role Model: Hedy Lamarr

In a new, spoiler-ish Dark Knight Rises piece over at Hero Complex, Anne Hathaway manages to stoke fanboy flames with talk of her Catwoman ‘s sleek gadgetry while invoking the name of screen siren (and Movieline heroine ) Hedy Lamarr. Now that’s good media management. See if her four-quadrant Catwoman chat hits you in all the right places, too. First, the stuff to get your inner techie fanboy a-tingling. “I love the costume because everything has a purpose,” Hathaway says of her costume, which is described as including razor-tipped stilettos and goggles that “flip up and resemble feline ears.” “Nothing is in place for fantasy’s sake.” Well, I wouldn’t say that . [ GALLERY: Catwoman’s look through the decades — who wore it best? ] And then, something for the ladies, the lovers of ladies, and anyone enamored of old school Hollywood glamour — a touch of the noir-ish femme fatale, perhaps, as channeled via the influence of a woman who influenced the original Catwoman, the inimitable Hedy Lamarr: “I know this sounds odd, but her breathing is extraordinary. She takes these long, deep, languid breaths and exhales slowly. There’s a shot of her in [the 1933 film] ‘Ecstasy’ exhaling a cigarette and I took probably five breaths during her one exhale. So I started working on my breathing a lot.” So far, so good if you ask me. I want a Catwoman who’s equal parts high tech and snarlingly seductive, forward-thinking without losing the slink of the Catwomen who’ve come before. What say you, Bat fans? • ‘Dark Knight Rises’ star Anne Hathaway: ‘Gotham City is full of grace’ [Hero Complex]
