Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall were married in a royal wedding fit for the Queen’s granddaughter today. William and Kate were there to watch his cousin wed! Zara, Prince William’s cousin and 13th in line to the throne (William’s #2 behind his father), and Mike, England’s rugby team captain, tied the knot in Edinburgh . The 3 p.m. ceremony took place at Canongate Kirk, the historic, small Church of Scotland venue where the Queen worships when she stays in the city. The bride made her arrival at a fashionably late six minutes past the hour in an ivory silk and satin gown by Stewart Parvin, the personal couturier to the Queen. She accessorized with Jimmy Choo shoes and a tiara on loan from Princess Anne. Mike Tindall wore a suit with coattails and a light grey stripe on the trouser legs. Princess Beatrice was among the first guests to arrive, wearing a turquoise hat with matching floral dress. Prince William and Kate Middleton (who wore a cream suit and matching hat) pulled up right afterwards in a black Jaguar. Princess Anne and her husband Tim Laurence followed and then another car brought Prince Charles and Camilla, also dressed in cream. The guests posed for the throngs of people lining the narrow, cobblestone streets, while HRM Queen Elizabeth II herself, in a dignified peach dress and hat, and Prince Phillip smiled to the crowd upon their arrival. The reception will be held at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen’s nearby residence. Zara spent many school holidays visiting her grandmother there. The Queen is donating the use of her residence as the wedding reception venue for $60,000, which is being closed to the public for five days. It will cost local officials a reported $800,000 to police the wedding, including marksmen at vantage points to protect the royal guests. With guests expected to number no more than 300, Zara looked forward to a private, family affair – quite different from her cousin’s in April. “My wedding will be nothing like Kate and William’s,” Phillips said last month. For a start, there won’t be anywhere near as many people.” “It will be a lot smaller, just close family and friends. Kate and William’s wedding was amazing but ours will be very different.” Congratulations to the happy couple! [Photo: Fame Pictures]
Is Tiger Woods, unthinkably, in financial trouble these days? That may be both exaggerating and oversimplifying it, but given a loss of endorsement deals, his recent divorce settlement, a hefty mortgage, and even a pay cut from Nike, life on Planet Tiger isn’t what it used to be . Forbes reports that Tiger recently signed a deal to hawk a heat rub in Japan. Although Woods was likely paid in the single-digit millions for the spot, it’s a far cry from his former campaigns for Pepsi, Gillette, and Accenture. Once king of the sports world, Tiger has suffered financially since late 2009 . After his personal life imploded, his endorsement list shrank and his marriage ended in a divorce settlement with Elin Nordegren worth $100 million-plus. But now he may actually be hurting for funds. At the very least, there are signs that the legend isn’t generating enough to comfortably cover his costs. Woods took out a $54.5 million mortgage on his home in Jupiter Island, Fla, last year. He is required to pay off the mortgage in full by January of 2016. That gives him a mere five and a half years to shed the debt at more than $10 million each year, which includes his $431,042 in annual property taxes. He’s left his old agency and even fired his caddy. He’s injured and unable to compete for prize money, with no victories since 2009. Things are not good. Silver lining: The Bank of Rachel Uchitel apparently returned a bunch of cash.
Mark Ronson, Dap Kings and Mary J. Blige also weigh in on singer’s death at 27. By Gil Kaufman Amy Winehouse Photo: Peter Macdiarmid/Getty Images for NARAS As London police continued their inquest into the death of Amy Winehouse on Saturday, tributes to the troubled singer poured in from friends, admirers and perfect strangers in awe of a major talent gone too soon. From Russell Brand and Kelly Clarkson to longtime producer Mark Ronson, the condolence notes paid homage to the 27-year-old crooner’s prodigious gifts as well as her haunted soul and the demons that chased her for much of her public life. Click for photos of Amy Winehouse’s life and career. At press time, there was still no word on a cause of death, though an autopsy was planned for Monday according to reports. Shortly after Winehouse’s body was found in her London apartment on Saturday, officials said the death of the singer who long struggled with addiction to drugs and alcohol was being treated as “unexplained,” though foul play was not suspected. One of the most touching and personal tributes to Amy Winehouse came from actor Russell Brand, who also famously struggled with substance abuse before finding sobriety in 2003. Brand wrote a lengthy post on Saturday in which he touched on the dangers of addiction and sadness over an artist he called a “genius.” See a Timeline of Winehouse’s Troubles Over the Years . “When you love someone who suffers from the disease of addiction you await the phone call. There will be a phone call,” he wrote of the dreaded ring in the night with bad news. “The sincere hope is that the call will be from the addict themselves, telling you they’ve had enough, that they’re ready to stop, ready to try something new. Of course though, you fear the other call, the sad nocturnal chime from a friend or relative telling you it’s too late, she’s gone.”
Back to Black singer’s story littered with substance abuse and arrests. By Jocelyn Vena Amy Winehouse ‘s success as an artist was equally matched by her trouble with substance abuse and the law. Shortly after releasing her star-making 2006 album, Back to Black , the London-born singer became a tabloid fixture, with the press constantly covering her professional ups as well as her personal downs. On Saturday, the singer was found dead in her London apartment. While she had been a staple of the British music scene since releasing her debut album, Frank , in 2003, it was her 2006 album that launched her as an international star and ushered in a new sound that harked back to the girl-group days of the ’50s and ’60s, leading to a number of copy-cat artists releasing albums around the same time. 2007 On her 2006 track “Rehab,” Winehouse chronicled her love of partying hard and her defiance to seek help for it, setting a course for the issues in her personal life. Midyear, Winehouse’s camp began denying the singer had a substance-abuse problem, as she began to cancel dates , a string of events that would become commonplace in her short-lived career. Even as the issues in her personal life began to cause speculation, her music career was thriving, with accolades flowing in from rappers like Jay-Z, who began remixing her songs, broadening her appeal to a wider spectrum of audiences beyond retro-leaning hipsters. But her legal troubles would make just as many headlines as her award wins and chart-topping success. In August 2007, she was arrested for marijuana possession , with her equally troubled husband, Blake Fielder-Civil , by her side in Norway. Before the year’s end, she would also have Visa problems and health issues , making shows hard to keep. 2008 As professional accolades flowed in, evidence of her drug problems became more and more evident. In January 2008, a video surfaced allegedly showing the singer smoking crack . Weeks later, she would check into rehab . In February, she wasn’t be able to attend the Grammys after her Visa was denied, however she did appear via satellite . At the show, she took home five trophies, including the big prize, Record of the Year . As 2008 rolled along, authorities continually questioned the singer in a number of cases, including an assault case in April and a drug-related arrest in May tied to the video of her allegedly doing drugs. Those charges were later dropped. In June of that year, she went public with the news that she had an early stage of emphysema , as her confirmed by her father, who became her mouthpiece and her biggest supporter in the face of her personal adversities. Later in the year, she hit the stage again in shows that were both redeeming and disastrous . 2009 Things did not slow down for Winehouse in 2009. Her husband filed for divorce in January of that year, and in March, she had to cancel her Coachella set after being charged with assault in connection with a 2008 incident. Regardless of her legal and health issues, she kept booking gigs, though not necessarily to successful results. She walked out early on a gig in St. Lucia in May. By July, she was officially divorced and acquitted on the 2008 assault charges . Her big public appearance was at the U.K.’s V Festival in August. However, by December, she was once again charged with assault in connection with another incident at a theater in the U.K. where she heckled a performance of “Cinderella” and reportedly assaulted theater manager Richard Pound, who complained that Winehouse had pulled his hair, punched him and kicked him when he asked her to move seats. 2010 After laying low for a good part of 2010, Winehouse appeared at a gig for her producer Mark Ronson in London, where she messed up the lyrics to their track “Valerie” and was seen drinking and being boisterous offstage. Despite the antics, she promised new music by early 2011 , a promise she did not keep. 2011 Her last stint in rehab was reportedly in May 2011, however, her attempts to get clean never truly helped her battle her demons. At a disastrous show in Belgrade in June, she showed up more than an hour late, then repeatedly left the stage mid-performance, forgot lyrics to her songs and even dropped a microphone. Shortly after, the singer canceled more tour dates . On Saturday, Winehouse was found dead at age 27, just five weeks after her last show, leaving behind a legacy of fame for both her musical influence and her troubles. Pop star joins new campaign to encourage fans to download PhoneGuard app that locks smartphone when car is in motion. By Gil Kaufman Justin Bieber Photo: Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic Justin Bieber likely spends way more time on private jets and international flights than behind the wheel of a car. But the teen pop sensation knows one thing about driving: You shouldn’t text when you’re behind the wheel. That’s why Bieber, 17, has signed on to a campaign urging his fans to lay off the smartphone while they drive as part of his ongoing anti-texting-while-driving campaign. “We need to change the attitudes in our society toward texting and driving and I am making it one of my personal goals to make this happen,” said Bieber in a statement released as part of his endorsement of PhoneGuard ‘s Drive Safe software, which disables the texting, email and keyboard functions of mobile phones while a car is in motion. “Every night we perform, we have a banner that goes up that says ‘Don’t Text and Drive’ so it really means a lot to me,” he said. Bieber has been pushing his fans to give up texting while driving since earlier this year when he made a surprise appearance on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” to promote the efforts of Wellman, Texas’ Brown family, who have been raising awareness about the dangers of the practice since their daughter, Alex, was killed in a texting-while-driving incident. Bieber’s anti-texting campaign will provide some funds to the Remember Alex Brown Foundation charity. The singer joins a number of other major figures who’ve been working to get the word out about the dangerous practice, including the Jonas Brothers, who have been outspoken advocates with Allstate’s “X the Text” campaign. Others who’ve signed on for that effort include former “American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks and “Camp Rock” star Meaghan Martin. “Glee” actress Jane Lynch has also filmed public service announcements, as her TV alter ego Sue Sylvester, on behalf of LG Mobile Phones to highlight the dangers of texting while driving. Among the biggest names to endorse the end of the practice is Oprah Winfrey, who has been asking her followers to take the No Phone Zone Pledge since 2009, in which more than 423,000 people to date have vowed not to text while behind the wheel. This fool here!! After finding a way to mostly avoid headlines for the past few months, Pacman Jones was in Cincinnati last night doing what he does best: f*cking up. The folks at WLWT report that Jones, who now plays for the Bengals, was arrested early Sunday at a Cincinnati bar. He reportedly was intoxicated and disruptive. He allegedly got into an argument, and he allegedly was uncooperative when asked to leave. As Jones was being arrested, he reportedly struggled to get out of the handcuffs. Ultimately, two officers were required to restrain him. With the league taking the position (ridiculous as it may be) that the personal conduct policy applies even though the players are currently locked out, it’ll be interesting to see how Pacman’s latest legal entanglement impact his career, given his history. You big dummy. Source

When two candidates with comparatively equal knowledge, skills and abilities are competing for the same position the one who handles this meeting the best will get the job. In fact, it’s not unheard of for a lesser qualified candidate to win the job simply because she interviewed better than more qualified candidates. Simple Ways To Enjoy Your Life In this crucial first meeting between you and the hiring authority decisions are based on: How well you relate to the hiring authority Your personal presentation How well you handle the questions How well you meet the position requirements. In that order! You have complete control over how you behave, how you’re groomed and the information you share. Little things may not work for you when right but they will definitely work against you if wrong. Putting your effort into getting them right will give you an employment edge. Here are some handy tips: Do arrive on time. Some experts recommend arriving 15 minutes early. I agree that it makes sense to insure you’re not late. If you are early take that time to visit the facilities and check your appearance. Do treat everyone you come into contact with at the company pleasantly and respectfully. At my staffing firm the front desk person had input on every potential new hire. Being rude or short with anyone is self defeating. Do take at least two clean copies of your resume (on good quality paper);a copy of the job description; something to write on / with; a separate sheet of paper with your employment references and your list of possible questions to ask. If you don’t have a professional looking pad holder use a file folder to hold these things. Don’t bring up the Pay Rate subject. You should have determined whether the hiring range was within your acceptable limits before getting to this meeting. The party that raises the question of pay first from that point on is in the weakest negotiating position. Don’t ask about vacation time or other benefits in this first meeting. This information may be offered but don’t ask if it isn’t. Your goal at a first interview is to either make the hiring authority want to hire you or make it to the next round of meetings. You must also determine whether the position is a good fit for you. What In The World Are You Waiting For?
