Daniel Craig Recalls ‘Dragon Tattoo’ Auditions For Lisbeth

Star of David Fincher’s film says Rooney Mara was ‘just spot on’ as bad-girl hacker. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Rooney Mara in “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” Photo: Columbia Pictures Come on : Rooney Mara is Lisbeth Salander, or as close to the “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” hacker as anyone born outside of Scandinavia could possibly be. We didn’t need to see the latest, longest “Tattoo” trailer to be convinced the previously under-the-radar actress had transformed herself from a girl-next-door type to a worthy big-screen heir not only to the badass in Stieg Larsson’s novel but to Noomi Rapace, who played Salander in the Swedish trilogy. We were sold after the first eye-popping photos of Mara in character appeared in January. Co-star Daniel Craig needed little convincing, as well, even though Mara was reportedly competing for the role with some of the biggest names in Hollywood — everyone from Natalie Portman to Kristen Stewart. “I think I knew pretty early on. I screen-tested with her a couple times and I saw exactly what [director] David [Fincher] was after with her,” Craig told us. “If you read the books, she’s just spot on. Rooney herself is actually really rounded and normal — she’s not boring, honestly — but she had to bring this very broken human being to life and she did it brilliantly.” We were chatting with Craig as he promoted “The Adventures of Tintin,” Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson’s motion-capture adaptation of the classic French-language comic book series. While the actor spoke glowingly of the film, and previously raved to us about collaborating with Fincher on “Dragon Tattoo” , he confessed to having zero interest in reuniting with Fincher on his next effort, an adaptation of “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” which will reportedly rely heavily on mo-cap technology. “He’s got all sorts of things lined up, and I do not want to be on that production,” Craig said. “I will go and visit them. It would be a great film to watch.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Read Danny McBride’s Profane Message to Comic-Con Fans

While Danny McBride couldn’t make yesterday’s 30 Minutes or Less panel at Comic-Con because he was busy filming Eastbound & Down , the actor did send a personalized video message. And not just the standard, “Sorry I couldn’t be there” business but a hilariously profane shout-out during which he ridiculed his cast and crew, praised his own performance and shocked the families sitting inside Hall H with some Kenny Powers-style language. Take a look at the transcript below.

When Steven Spielberg Met His Superfan: Relive the Cutest Moment at Comic-Con

Thousands of fanboys (and girls) travel to Comic-Con each year to breathe the same air as their pop culture heroes, even if that means spending all day with 7,000 strangers in a San Diego Convention Center auditorium. The crowding was worth it though for anyone in yesterday’s phenomenal Tintin panel — where Steven Spielberg broke news of Jurassic Park 4 and offered inspirational wisdom to his audience — especially for one lucky fan who was spontaneously welcomed onstage by the great filmmaker. Let’s relive the adorable moment.

Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson Talk ‘Adventures Of Tintin’

The debuted footage was received very favorably, several news outlets reported. Jackson and director Steven Spielberg caught up with MTV News to chat about how motion capture has evolved over the years. Spielberg cited the motion capture in “The Polar Express” as what propelled the animation technique into popularity, which then culminated in its best form when James Cameron and Weta Digital applied it to “Avatar.” Was there any one scene in particular Spielberg found the most difficult to create? “I don’t think it’s any one scene that is tough to crack,” he said. “It’s the medium that has been evolving that took years of development and experimentation and trial and error.” The central focus of the story is obviously the movie’s namesake, Tintin, but there are plenty of other colorful characters fans should look forward to as well. Spielberg said he hopes Tintin is the biggest breakout character to come out of the flick, but Jackson said the rest of the ensemble will have a chance to shine as well. “[Comic creator] Herg

Dwarfpalooza: Check Out Group Photo Of All Hobbit Dwarves

Peter Jackson couldn’t make Comic-Con this year , but he’s taking time to titillate dorks, dorks, and also dorks with this new still of The Hobbit ‘s dwarf patrol — together at last after multiple separate photos. They are a dandy bunch. These butch woodsmen are bearded, armored, and dressed for winter! Looks a little like a catalog shoot for a post-apocalyptic Eddie Bauer.

The bad news is, there is no video presentation of footage from The Hobbit in the offing at Comic Con this week. I’m not sure that anyone really thought that such a thing was likely, but with Steven Spielberg showing up for Tintin, implying that his co-conspirator on that film, Peter Jackson, would be here as well, some thought there was an outside chance that Mr. Jackson would take the stage in Hall… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : /Film Discovery Date : 21/07/2011 06:56 Number of articles : 2

REVIEW: Young Stars Carry Otherwise Flaccid Life, Above All

A small story is laid out in broad, biblical terms in Life, Above All , a ye-who-is-without-sin parable set in contemporary, AIDS -stricken South Africa. Director Oliver Schmitz takes great and often very photogenic pains to indict the shame and secrecy attached to the epidemic that has made South Africa the country with the highest incidence of HIV infections in the world.

Which Departing Glee Star Will Have the Best Film Career?

For those of you who follow the television news beat, Glee creator Ryan Murphy telling The Hollywood Reporter that Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith would not return to the Emmy-nominated Fox comedy (“comedy”) following the upcoming third season shouldn’t have been that surprising. After all, Murphy has been saying for months that the McKinley High School seniors would graduate at the close of season three. What that means for the future of Glee is certainly up for debate — one that Movieline sister site TVL ine will keep you abreast on; what that means for the three biggest Glee stars, however, is firmly in Movieline territory.
