Yesterday, Apollo Nida begged Phaedra Parks to take him back in his first interview since beginning an eight-year prison sentence. Nida went so far as to suggest he and Parks had worked things out and he expected to reconcile with his estranged wife after his release. Phaedra has yet to respond to Apollo’s claims publicly, but friends say she reacted to the interview pretty much as you would expect: “Apollo is in jail and Phaedra has moved on,” a source tells Radar Online. “She is focused on being the best possible mother to their two young sons, Ayden and Dylan.” So it sounds like the Phaedra-Apollo divorce will take place as scheduled. Not exactly surprising news, considering Nida nearly assaulted Parks just before he turned himself in to prison officials. Of course, it’s not just Nida’s notorious temper or the fact that he might be in prison until 2022 that has Phaedra keeping her distance. He was effing up long before all this fraud business started! In fact, earlier today, Kenya Moore gloated on her Bravo blog about Nida being forced to apologize and admit that he lied about her coming on to him. What a guy! The handsome Chris Soules stars in ABC’s first promo for the new season of The Bachelor, and in it, both he and the network show they’re in on the joke. The Bachelor Promo: Chris Soules The Bachelor strikes a unique balance on TV, with its utterly ridiculous premise, epically cheesy cliches and outrageous displays of behavior from contestants. All of that makes it a fun show to watch, of course, and the show layers all of these facets with enough humor and inside jokes to balance out the absurdity. While it’s impossible to take what you see seriously, there remains enough genuine emotion and intrigue to keep it from becoming a total joke, as well. Combine all that together and what you have is one of the longest-running and most successful franchises on network TV, with no end in sight either. In Chris Soules , ABC has again found the whole package, and is packaging it accordingly as the unintentional comedy the show has become in this teaser. Soules, 32, was rejected by Andi Dorfman on The Bachelorette this summer, but not after leaving Andi (and more than a few fans) swooning for weeks. After being convicted of fraud and identity theft back in May, Apollo Nida is serving an eight-year prison sentence at a Georgia correctional facility. In his first prison interview since (reluctantly) turning himself in in September, Nida reports that he’s adjusting well to prison life, and is hoping that his ex-wife Phaedra Parks will wait for him on the outside. Nida and Parks split shortly before he was found guilty, and sources say the divorce is proceeding rapidly (we imagine there’s not much squabbling over kids and property when one half of the couple is behind bars). The breakup seemed to be mutual, and there were accusations of infidelity from both parties. Now, however, Apollo wants to give his marriage a second try, but we imagine his pleas will fall on deaf ears: “I hope we can stick it out,” Apollo told In Touch last week. “Yes, we’ve had our problems – especially over the past year – but we’ve gotten on terms now where I can call her and it’s cordial.” Someone should tell Apollo that “cordial” isn’t enough to sustain a relationship through an eight-year prison sentence. A spokesperson for Phaedra confirms “there have been absolutely no discussions about reconciling” and “the divorce is proceeding as planned.” As for the couple’s two kids, Apollo reports that he has not seen 4-year-old Ayden and 18-month-old Dylan since he began serving his sentence, but he says “there are plans” to have them visit soon.
