Here are a few items that may come in handy in the face of an emergency. *First Aid Kit. These little gems can be found at most drug stores. *Water. Pack a few gallons. The CDC recommends storing at least 1 gallon of water per day for each person and each pet. *Food. Look for items that are both filling and have a longer shelf life; granola bars, nuts, crackers, canned meat and vegetables, dried fruit and cereal are all good options. FEMA recommends packing a two weeks supply. *Manual Can Opener. That canned food won’t do you much good if you’re not able to open it. *Cash. If the power is out, your plastic is too. Grab some cash and include some coins — you never know what you may need. *Medicine/Medication. Your health is paramount. Make sure to include treatment for yourself and your loved ones. *Blankets. They are inexpensive and great for retaining body heat. *Clothes. Pack several comfortable options. *Plastic bags. Either plastic retail bags or garbage bags. They will come in handy when disposing of trash, storing items, etc. *Moist Towelettes. When it comes to sanitation they may become your best friend. *Portable Cell Phone Charger. So if we take a sarcastic tone while reporting on Jen Harley’s latest Instagram Story post below, or if we straight up mock the occasionally-violent reality star, it’s not because we aren’t sympathetic to the loss of a furry loved one. All that said… … what the heck is Harley talking about here?!? Last Thursday night, MTV aired the much-anticipated confrontation between Harley and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro on Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. It took place in Las Vegas; it centered on Ronnie’s irritation over Jen hiding the couple’s daugther from him; and it even involved a producer stepping in front of a camera in order to try and calm Ronnie down. At various points in the dispute, Harley slammed her on-again/off-again boyfriend as a “loser” as a “psychopath” and as a “piece of sh-t.” She also spit on Ronnie. The argument had seemingly been a long time come, considering how viciously Harley and Ronnie had previously attacked each other on social media. But that wasn’t actually the cause of their contention, Harley now says. Her history with Ronnie didn’t play a significant role in this ugly meltdown, Jen explains on Instagram. She actually blames her anger and emotions at the time on the very recent death of her dog. “They edited out the whole side of my story and [they] just showed me flipping out, not me on the phone with the vet crying after finding out my dog was brought in deceased,” Harley said in response to the episode airing. She continue to defend herself as follows: “I was pissed everyone was hiding it from me and ignoring me! anyone who [owns] a dog would feel the same way !! “They made me go there [and] film it for everyone to see they couldn’t tell me any other way and it was f-cked up and they made it something completely different.” A tabloid source did actually say something similar back in June . After reports of this fight went viral, this insider said “Jen was supposed to be taking care of the dogs when he was away filming, and Ronnie came home to their house and found the dog dead in the pool.” YIKES . We can understand why this would cause serious tension between the estranged reality stars. But it’s not as though they hadn’t been going back and forth online long before this tragedy took place. So… where do Jen and Ronnie stand now? We have absolutely no idea. One second, we read something about their disdain for each other. The next second, as they are above on July Fourth, the two are looking all lovey-dovey on social media. That photo right here, we should note, was snapped AFTER last week’s crazy episode was filmed. As we keep coming back and saying each time the topic of Jen and Ronnie is raised, only one thing really matters in the end: The health and happiness of their young daughter, Ariana. Woman Who Took Photo Of Geoffrey Owens Working Apologizes That viral photo floating around of Cosby Show actor Geoffrey Owens making honest money working at Trader Joe’s has opened up a conversation about “respectable work” and the media’s leaning to shaming those who earn honest checks . The woman who snapped the pic, 50-year-old Karma Lawrence, says that the entire fiasco of her taking a photo of the actor working to pay his bills and support his family got entirely out of hand. She now claims to NJ.com she meant Geoffrey no ill will when she whipped out her phone and took a photo of him working and minding his business. She also says she didn’t mean to cause an uproar or shame the actor when she distributed the photograph to SEVERAL celebrity sites before it was finally picked up and published by Daily Mail. She’s since faced quite a bit of backlash, and surprise surprise…she’s so so sorry now. “So much hate. So much nastiness. Oh, it’s been terrible. They write Karma’s a b****. It’s bad.” She says she consumes a lot of Hollywood gossip media and paparazzi shots, so thought not much of it when she took a photo of the actor: “I don’t know why I snuck a picture. I figured everybody does it. I don’t know what possessed me. I just did it. I didn’t even think about it. I just kind of did it on impulse and it was a bad impulse. “It wasn’t malicious. That’s on my kids, my grandkids, my parents. I’m not that type of a person. I’m not the monster they’re making me out to be. When I saw him working there I thought maybe because of everything with Bill Cosby that his residuals got cut. And people have to take a normal job. But I didn’t think anything bad about it. I work a normal job.” Either way, her photo appears to ultimately have done more good for the actor than harm. Long-time Republican senator John McCain has died, a source has confirmed to the Associated Press. McCain, who had been battling brain cancer for a number of years, passed away in Arizona. He was 81. McCain, the former Presidential nominee, leaves behind his wife of 37 years Cindy; seven children, including three from his first marriage, to Carol Shepp; and his 106-year-old mother, Roberta McCain. McCain was four days shy of his 82nd birthday. McCain over the years became known as the “Maverick” of Congress and America’s most famous prisoner of war during the Vietnam War. The former Navy pilot with a famous admiral father was shot down over Vietnam and spent 5 1/2 years as a POW in the north, most of that time in a prison sarcastically termed the Hanoi Hilton for the way inmates were treated. According to TMZ, Smith is being investigated by the NYPD after a fan filed a police report stating that the forgetful baller had stolen his cell phone and tossed it into a construction site. The story goes that the fan secretly snapped a pic of J.R. after he was asked not to. J.R. got mad, took the phone, and heaved it across the street from The Park nightclub in Chelsea, NY. The fan called the cops reporting that his $800 phone was damaged. J.R. isn’t being charged at this time, but the NYPD definitely want to have a conversation with him.
