Exclusive: Freeky Zekey Denies Strong-Arming Non-Profit Head; Says Whole Thing Is A Misunderstanding

Freeky Zekey Says Booking Dispute Was A Misunderstanding; Says He Respects Women “Dip Set’s” Freeky Zekey has hit back at a nonprofit head’s claims that he defrauded her for an appearance fee at her charity gala and then threatened her mother for the rest of the dough. Freeky Zekey said the fallout from his appearance at the “Sisters In Charge” masquerade gala last year had been a misunderstanding and said his accuser had been less than professional in her dealings with him. Earlier this week, we revealed Tamara Charles’ claims that Freeky Zekey reneged on their verbal agreement for him to Zeke to co-host her “Sisters In Charge” gala Oct. 14 and perform. Charles said she sent Zekey a $1,600 deposit to secure the deal. But instead, Charles said Zekey arrived 15 minutes before the event ended, underdressed and seemingly intoxicated. She said he hyped the crowd for a few minutes before taking pictures and speaking to “Love & Hip Hop’s” Juju, who was also a special guest. Charles said he still demanded the rest of his booking fee and threatened her and her mother until they came up with the rest. Charles also said Freeky Zekey stole her phone out of her hand, and when she got it back weeks later, it had been reset. But Zekey – whose real name is Ezekiel Giles – wants to tell his side of the story: According to his rep, Zeke acknowledged that he was late to the gala, but was under the impression that the night ended at 1 a.m., not 11 p.m. He said that most artists do not arrive at the beginning of an event, and once he got there was another performer on stage, so he waited his turn. Zekey contends that he got on stage, performed and also made a speech about the importance of domestic violence prevention. He said he asked Charles for the rest of his money – another $1,600 – but Charles said to wait until the end of the night. Zekey said it’s customary to get paid before the artist takes the stage. He said he asked her again a short time later, and she asked him to go outside with her, his rep said. He said Charles handed him an envelope, but it was less than the $1,600. He said by that time, her friends and family came outside, and her mother volunteered to give him the remaining balance. He then followed the mom in his car to a house and then to an ATM. When the mom gave him the additional money, he got on his knees and thanked her. Freeky’s rep showed BOSSIP video and photos of the rapper/hype man performing at the gala – proof that Zekey said he provided to Pay Pal, which is why he was able to keep the initial deposit. He said Charles disputed his fee with Pay Pal some two months after the event. The rapper also denied snatching Charles’ phone. He said her phone was among several phones that were on a table, and he believed it was his. His rep said he mailed the phone back to their mutual friend the following day. “Freekey Zekey has a deep respect for women, having close relationships with his fiance, aunts, nieces, etc…And he finds these accusations deeply upsetting,” his rep told BOSSIP in a statement. “He denies her accusations wholeheartedly.”

Bekah Martinez: The Bachelor Contestant Listed on Missing Persons Report, Found on Show

Sometimes we see The Bachelor spoilers coming ahead of time. Other times not so much, such as in the bizarre case of Bekah Martinez. No, we’re not talking about her age ( so damn young !) but the fact that she was on a Missing Persons List prior to being found … … on The Bachelor . Yes, she was just removed from a missing persons list in California after someone recognized her from the hit show, according to reports. The strange saga unfolded after the North Coast Journal asked if readers knew any of 35 people declared missing in Humboldt County. One did. Acting on a tip from a member of Bachelor Nation, the publication compared Martinez’s Instagram photos to her missing person’s photo. At that point, they reached out to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, where officials reached out to her using her phone number on file. It worked. After speaking to Bekah Martinez, officials confirmed that she was indeed not missing, and she was removed from the list. According to the sheriff’s office, the now-infamous Martinez was reported missing by her mother at about 1:06 a.m. on November 18. The mom hadn’t heard from her since November 12; Martinez last told her she was planning on working at a marijuana farm in the area. Martinez’s mother told deputies she she asked Bekah to come home; Bekah refused, and said she would see her in 7-8 days. At the time, Martinez told her mom that she was near Eureka, Calif., an area about 45 minutes from any known marijuana farm. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office attempted to contact Martinez and others associated with her, receiving no response. The case went to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, where a deputy contacted Martinez’s mother. According to Martinez’s mother, Bekah had contacted her late in the afternoon on November 18, stating that she was headed home. As of December 12, no one had heard from her, and deputies were not able to make direct contact with Martinez after that point. Thus, she was entered into the Missing and Unidentified Persons System and not removed until The Bachelor fan’s sighting. Bekah may have left her mom hanging, but she’s been active on Twitter and Instagram throughout the time she’s been missing. On September 17, long before she disappeared, she posted that she was “giving up” her phone and social media for weeks. This was for The Bachelor . She resumed posting November 23 after she finished filming (incidentally, if you want to know who will win The Bachelor , follow the link).  Bekah addressed her Missing Persons status on Twitter: “MOM. how many times do I have to tell you I don’t get cell service on The Bachelor??” “Honestly the scariest thing about this story is that my efforts to conceal The Worst Drivers License Photo Of All Time have been thwarted.” Clearly she’s not taking this too seriously. As for the marijuana farm component of this story, Northern California has long been known as fertile ground for the product. Now that it’s legal, gigs on the farms are seen as a good way to make money, but often times are in remote places with no cell service. According to officials, many of the farms don’t have permits and are still illegal, and many who go to work on them don’t come back. “It’s something that we’ve been battling with for years,” said one local official to People . “It’s actually a huge problem here.” “I’m sure that her mother had a legitimate concern … women can be held against their will, or forced to do things they don’t want to do.” Sounds even worse than being on The Bachelor . Phoebe Robinson Talks Being A ‘Dope Queen’ On New HBO Series

Originally posted here:

Source: Charley Gallay / Getty If there is one moment that best embodies 2 Dope Queens on HBO, it would be when hosts Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams invite “hair icon” Sarah Jessica Parker on the show to talk about black hair. The scene is just as awkward and random as you’d expect as you watch Parker take great pain to find the right words to describe what she loves about our hair, except that it doesn’t end with Carrie Bradshaw being dragged off the stage. In fact, the moment highlights Robinson and Williams’s penchant for addressing and dismantling what is considered taboo or controversial to have an honest, thoughtful conversation about sociopolitical matters. Not only does 33-year-old Robinson welcome the dialogue, she encourages it. Taking her and Williams’s wildly popular podcast to primetime television was a decision that at first made her nervous, then excited her as she prepared to headline a variety series unlike any other. With 2 Dope Queens , the Ohio native is helping normalize the presence of smart, fabulous, hilarious black women in late night TV to talk about things from “which white people need to apologize to us first?” to the wonderful moment when Robinson’s #Britishwhitebae offered to lotion her “ashy” feet. And that’s not all—they bring along a dazzling array of diverse stand-up talent including Baron Vaughn, Aperna Nancherla, Michelle Buteau, and Sheng Wang to offer their own candid observations on the world around them. Robinson jumped on the phone to talk to us about the new series, navigating social media, and disrupting the white boys club in comedy: HB: Congrats on 2 Dope Queens ! How important for you was it to create a positive, inclusive environment that was also woke AF for TV? Phoebe Robinson : I think because Jessica started out in improv and I was doing stand-up two years ago, we would see very white, very male faces. With the stand-up portion of the 2 Dope Queens special, I just noticed that these comedians don’t have the attention they deserve. It’s important for us that not only are we providing a platform for ourselves, but for other people who we think are amazing. I think a lot of people in comedy, the gatekeepers, are like, “oh, we don’t know how to find diverse talent. We don’t know how to find people who are different.” I always hate that, like you’re not looking at all the amazing people around you who are worthy and valuable and are hilarious. With Queens , it’s just been easy to book this. Everyone’s great. HB: What made you want to move the podcast to TV? PR : We were doing the podcast for a while, and we all thought we were going to do well, but we’re also so surprised to see how much people really enjoy not only the chemistry between Jessica and I, but also the stand-up and our interview style with guests. And one night we were just like, “I think that this could be a really fun TV show. I think this could be a variety show.” I told Jessica that, and she agreed. And we rounded everyone up and said, “this could be something different that hasn’t quite been on TV before.” I must give HBO credit, because ever since they’ve been around they’ve always had a keen eye on what’s different, what’s an audience that’s deprived of content and how can we be a facilitator of that. And I think they saw something with Jessica and I that was along the lines of Insecure and all this other stuff coming out in which people of color are not only in front of the camera but also behind the camera. They were just immediately on board. HB: Did you feel any pressure to respond to a certain political moment in pop culture? PR : I think the show existing is its own statement. But I think whatever Jessica and I talk about the show—whether it’s racism, or sexism in New York, or even something light like celebrities we have crushes on—we’re constantly bringing ourselves to the stage. Our stand-ups like John Early are very involved with what’s going on in the world, so I think the easy part is finding smart, intelligent people who will execute the way they do best. I don’t think it’s been tough for us to do it. I think we’re just grateful to have people around us who want to talk about these things. Jessica and Phoebe Source: Amy Pearl / Amy Pearl HB: You seem to have a very devoted and diverse audience that appreciate your unapologetic blackness no matter what. PR : If something is created by a straight white dude, did they think about how it was going to be relatable to other people? Was Jerry Seinfeld to make his show relatable? That’s just not a question he gets asked. So, when Jessica and I got into this, we want to do what we find funny. I just want to make her laugh on stage, and vice versa. I think this notion that anyone who doesn’t represent the patriarchy as we know it, they’re considered “other” or hard to understand. We’re all human, even if I’m talking about ashiness in the black community. So even if certain audiences don’t understand the experiences because they haven’t had them, I think they can empathize with people. They can really understand the comedy of it. I think we’ve gotten to a place where white people watch Insecure . Asian people watch Jane, the Virgin . Good is good, and I think it’s great that that could be celebrated. HB: That reminds me of the moment when you brought on Sarah Jessica Parker to talk about black hair. PR : She’s not the only person that’s scared about black hair. I think that’s why a lot of people touch it, because they don’t know how to respond to it. So, it was cool to have that moment and have her be vulnerable and say, “no, I don’t know anything about black hair. No one’s ever talked about it with me. Let’s get into it.” It was cool because the audience was nervous, and Jessica and I were like, “This is fine. She’s asking questions so that she could be more knowledgeable.” I wish moments like that would happen more in real life. HB: As soon as that moment happened, I immediately looked at SJP and thought to myself, “what in the world is she going to say?” It was a very pure moment when you didn’t know what to expect and she was obviously curious and complimentary about it. To see that moment in this era of black hair is very indicative of what the show is. PR : Yeah, I think instead of everyone being nervous to talk about different cultures, let’s just like get into it and open it up. When things are no longer a mystery, then everyone could be treated with respect as opposed to not acknowledging it, so they don’t say anything stupid. I’m glad that you really like that moment, because that to me is one of my favorite moments from the taping as well.   HB: I think it also just allowed space for her to say something that she might have regretted later, especially important given the way in which we engage in this reactionary social media era. You were encouraging her to say the first thing that came into her mind because it was not a space in which you would judge her. PR : Yeah, it’s like “I want to try to say this, but I might say the wrong thing. I’m not trying to offend anyone. I’m trying to find the tools to equip myself to discuss this in the first place. I think in this era where everyone’s like, “I’m woke,” I’m like, you don’t know everything. No one knows everything. I don’t know everything about the LGBTQ community, so I’m learning. It’s like, I don’t know this thing and I want to know about it and become smarter about it. It’s creating a space where people aren’t snapping at someone when they get one thing wrong. Like today, I saw someone I know on Instagram post something simply stating, “Hey women, make sure to get your cervix checked” like a PSA. And someone immediately wrote, “you know, not all women have cervixes.” You know what she was trying to do! And then it turned into she’s being exclusionary, but this person’s trying to raise awareness. People are so quick to find a flaw in what people say without realizing that this person is trying to affect positive change. HB: You are a comedienne, showrunner, movie star, and a New York Times bestselling author. What would you like to conquer next? PR : I would love to keep working in TV. I would love to have my own TV show. I would love to do more movies. I’d love to write and direct like Ava Duvernay and Jordan Peele. If they can do it, I can do it. I’m working on my second book right now titled, Everything’s Trash but It’s Okay . So maybe do some stuff in publishing, maybe have my own imprint and publish people of color, queer people, women who I think don’t get the same opportunities because publishing is also overwhelmingly white. I’d also like to be more politically and socially active. I do some work with the Red campaign and would love to continue doing that because while it’s nice to get in hair and makeup and promote myself, I do think I have a responsibility to have it not all be about me. I want to use my platform for something good. 2 Dope Queens premiered on HBO Friday, February 2. Ain’t Over: Mo’Nique Says Sheryl Underwood Lied About THIS—But Why’s She Still Talking About Tyler Perry?

Earl Gibson III/Getty Images First Netflix, now Sheryl… Mo’Nique Calls Out Sheryl Underwood, Talks Oprah, Tyler Perry & Lee Daniels Again Mo’Nique isn’t done speaking on her Netflix snub and she’s bringing some other people into the mix. As previously reported Mo’Nique did a Periscope with her “daddy” Sydney who cried as he spoke on his support of the “world’s most decorated comedian” who showed off her trophies—before dragging Oprah for not helping black women. Things got especially interesting, however, when she brought up fellow comedienne Sheryl Underwood who spoke on Mo during “The Talk.” Mo previously said that neither Sheryl nor Julie Chen came to her defense and during the show, Sheryl defended herself. Sheryl said she spoke with Mo’Nique and didn’t tell her to take low offers, and actually advised her to go back and make amends with Oprah, Tyler Perry and Lee Daniels, who she previously accused of blackballing her. “I do not recollect ever asking her to take less money, especially if she felt she was violated. What I asked her to do and what I was hoping that she would do, was to talk to Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, Lee Daniels… Now she may not agree with me but what I do commend her for now is having the discussion that will hopefully open the door to solving this racial and gender inequity problem that we see.” According to Mo’Nique however, that’s a flat-out lie and instead, Sheryl agreed with her that she was wronged by the team behind “Precious” and suddenly rushed off the phone after making that statement. “I watched my sister Sheryl Underwood sit on that stage on “The Talk” and she said, “Let me be clear about something I never told Mo’Nique to take low offers, I told Mo’Nique if she asked for forgiveness from Oprah, Lee Daniels and Tyler Perry then things would be okay,’ said Mo’Nique. Sheryl Underwood is telling a lie, I can’t call my sister a liar but I will say she’s lying. I have the proof of the conversation. When Sheryl Underwood called me what she said was; “I know you’re not lying and I know you’re right” and that’s when I said, ‘B*** then when why are we here?!’ That’s when she got into a big hurry,” she added. “‘I gotta get to the airport, I gotta get on a plane!’” Sheryl reportedly said. Kylie Jenner Can’t Stop Eating, Cruel Report Alleges

We finally have an answer to this ongoing pressing question: Where in the world is Kylie Jenner? And the answer is this: Someplace with a giant plate of food in front of her! Indeed, according to a pretty mean new report by Radar Online, the 20-year old is not sharing new photos on Instagram and not appearing in public because she’s embarrassed. She’s ashamed. She’s downtrodden. And it’s not just because she’s pregnant. ” Kylie’s been eating non-stop and has gained a tremendous amount of weight,” an insider claims to Radar, adding: “She is not eating healthy, either, so it is not making her situation any better.” This is common for any woman that is expecting, of course. How many times have you heard a pregnant person joke that she is “eating for two?” Kylie, however, has made a living from posing in scantily-clad outfits and in sharing every detail of her personal life with her fans. For this reason, those same fans are growing irritated over the lack of Jenner’s baby bump . They’re sick of the games and just want Kylie to come out and admit she’s expecting a child with semi-serious boyfriend Travis Scott. But Radar writes that Jenner has gained 60 pounds in just a few months and it’s all because she has a “big breakfast, big lunch, big dinner and tons of snacks in between.” As a result, she can’t bear to show off her figure to, well, pretty much anyone. This is actually pretty sad, if true. Kylie has created a life for herself in which she can’t be her true self… unless that true self is svelte and sexy and all of that. “She gorges on food and blames it on being pregnant, but says that she is always hungry,” Radar alleges, writing that the star “hides her [body] in oversized clothes” these days. Because Jenner has not issued any sort of statement regarding her pregnancy, we don’t know for sure when she’s due or whether she’s having a boy or a girl. But we hear the baby will arrive early this spring and be a female. We’ve also heard disturbing reports that Kylie will try to get emergency weight loss surgery as soon as she gives birth. She’s that desperate to shed this baby weight. Her sisters and other loved ones are against this dangerous idea, but Jenner simply isn’t thinking clearly at the moment. “She thinks she is morbidly obese right now,” the Radar insider says. “After she gives birth, she is planning on checking into a fat farm for six weeks. “If that doesn’t work, she will resort to using a procedure like limo or cool sculpting to shed the pounds.” Again, we can’t verify the accuracy of this allegation. Kylie Jenner Pregnancy Reveal: This is How It’ll Happen! But even in the Keeping Up with the Kardashians clip where Kylie seemingly tells her family that she’s pregnant (above), we do NOT see Kylie’s body. We simply see her face over the phone. This has to lend at least some credence to the possibility that Kylie really has gained a great deal of weight and really does feel awful about it. The truth, however, is that we’ll never know for certain. We have no way of shooting down this claim until Jenner herself comes out and does what she is apparently afraid to do: She has to make herself visible to the world. Teacher, 44, Caught "Romping" in Car With 13-Year-Old Student

A teacher named Rachel Gonzalez was arrested after a boy’s father caught her and his son “romping” in her car. While other teachers have been arrested for sexually preying upon their students , this story is particularly unsettling. Because the teacher was 44 and the son … was 13. The only silver lining to this disgusting story is that Rachel Gonzalez was caught and arrested. An underage student’s father notified Bay City, Texas police of an inappropriate relationship between his 13-year-old son and a 44-year-old teacher. We hope that we don’t have to explain why the boy’s name has been withheld. The teacher’s name is Rachel Gonzalez. Apparently, what first clued in the father was discovering conversations on the teen’s phone about their inappropriate sexual relationship. We can’t imagine how horrifying it must be to discover that your very young son is being preyed upon by a much, much older sexual predator. It must be even more chilling to find that the woman in question has been entrusted with the care and well being of hundreds of children. It appears that Rachel Gonzalez may not be the boy’s teacher. The school district reported that it had received “a report of an alleged inappropriate relationship between a student at one campus and a BCISD teacher from another campus.” Given that there are reports of Rachel Gonzalez having been (at least at one time) a fourth grade teacher, that makes sense. (Fourth graders, folks, are typically 9 or 10, not 13) “The District immediately involved the Bay City ISD Chief of Police in order to evaluate the report, and quickly turned the matter over to the Bay City Police Department for a full investigation.” According to Bay City police documents: “During the investigation Detectives got a search warrant to seize and access the phone belonging to the victim. At that time, they were able to locate evidence indicating there was an improper relationship and Detectives requested warrants for the arrest of Gonzalez.” They served those warrants on December 22nd. Rachel Gonzalez was then  super  arrested. “She was transported to the Matagorda County Jail where she was booked in on charges of On-Line Solicitation of a Minor and Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student.” And, in case you’re worried about this woman seeing the inside of a classroom instead of a jail cell, the school district also added: “The teacher in question resigned from BCISD prior to the District learning of the allegations.” The school district’s Board of Trustees President released an additional statement: “While I cannot provide additional information at this time that could possibly compromise the legal process underway or the safety and well-being of BCISD students.” The Board President then added: “I want to assure our parents and community that student welfare is our top priority. We are committed to providing a safe school environment for BCISD students and staff.” We should note that there are a few things that are unusual about this case: -The scope of the age difference. -That she appears to have been a teacher from another school altogether. -The extent of the victim’s youth, because 13 is (usually) barely pubescent. We may be talking about a 7th grader, here. It’s horrifying. We wish that we knew what sort of screening process schools should implement to prevent the hiring of sexual predators. All that we can really suggest is that, for prospective teachers who think that they might be attracted to future students: perhaps, like diabetics who dream of becoming bakers, they should pick another profession before they ruin some student’s life.
