Chelsea Flower Show 2010: Naked woman in full bloom, Queen amused

The gardens of Chelsea Flower Show are in full bloom. And it's not just the flora that's blossoming. Down amid the Salvias and the Agapanthus today there was an attraction not normally associated with the traditional world of horticultural competition – a naked woman, or more to the point a dancing, naked woman. Eye-catching: Performance artist Paisley donned gold body paint before dancing around the Foreign and Colonial Investments Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show. The woman was, in fact, a 'performance artist' named Paisley. Dancing in the sunshine as classical music played, the model did spare the blushes of the faint-hearted by wearing one singularly small item of flesh coloured lingerie and some bronze body paint. Nudity has been a feature at the annual show before – and not just in the varying shades of rose petal. Cheeky! Paisley intended to depict the character Cunegonde from the 18th century satirical novel by French author Voltaire. The Queen didn't appear to be too shocked by the display, smiling while talking to an exhibitor at the show. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1281099/Chelsea-Flower-Show-2010-Naked-w… added by: zichi

This Boob-Slapping Wedding DJ Video Can’t Be Viral Marketing

Filed under: Humor , Videos There’s this video of an awful wedding DJ at an awful wedding who slaps the boobs of this chubby girl. Some folks suspect that it’s some kind of weird viral marketing , but there’s just no way. You say, “There’s no way this guy could be real.” We say, “There’s no way this guy could be made up.” Who says, “You guys know what would be so hilarious? Let’s get a dozen people together (some with babies) and put them in front of a camera and stage this elaborate pathetic wedding reception and this guy will slap this fat chick’s boobs. We’ll slow it down with some Phil Collins (don’t worry, we’ll get the rights). So random!” And listen to this gibberish: Come shake your body and do that thing. You got you know you gotta do know you do it in the Conga. Everybody get in the conga conga conga. Wedding party and guests, come on and get in the back of the line. You wanna do it. Have a slice of lime. No. It’s too surreal to be fake. The DJ is smoking what looks like a cigar, wearing sneakers and a bowtie. There is a black and white clip-art paper sign that says “Stardust Entertainment.” A man is wearing a baseball cap. THERE ARE JORTS! No New York ad exec could dream this up. Share Continue reading

Filed under: Music , Television , Internet Songbirds , Internet on TV It was literally two days ago that a YouTube video of Greyson Michael Chance covering Lady Gaga’s ‘Paparazzi’ made its way around the web — the 12-year old impressed everyone with some serious talent. This morning Greyson officially hit the big time by appearing on The Ellen Show , and even received a special phone call from “Miss Gaga” herself. We love when talented kids make the jump from the web to the TV and Ellen’s producers are seriously on their game right now. (Speaking of, can you see this right now you guys? Need more talented people from the internet? We’ve got you covered: stay tuned for more! ) Greyson’s performance had around 20,000 views about 48 hours ago. 13 Subtly Different Ways to Tie a Tie (Videos)

Filed under: Videos , Fashion , Lists , How To The necktie as we know it today (the four-in-hand) was one of countless innovations born out of the Industrial Revolution. Since then, four primary knots have emerged: the four-in hand, the Pratt, the Half-Windsor and the Windsor. However, according to research at Cambridge’s Cavendish Laboratory, up to eighty-five knots are possible. Granted, you wouldn’t want to wear most of them, but there are a few, like the Victoria, that you might find quite fetching. ‘Geek a Week’ Cartoonist Len Peralta Collects the World’s Greatest Geeks – An Urlesque Interview

Filed under: Art / Design , Exclusives When Len Peralta , a talented illustrator who has worked with web celebrities like Jonathan Coulton and Paul and Storm, was looking for a new artistic challenge, he asked a friend for advice. “Why don’t you do a Geek a Week ?” his friend asked. What’s a Geek a Week, though? Len decided that it’s a series of trading cards (and corresponding interviews) of notable geeks. He started the project on March 1st and it will eventually feature a year’s worth of weekly geeks. The art is all original work by Len and the stats and bios on the back are by Paul and Storm. The series already includes JoCo, nerd rapper MC Frontalot, Jay and Silent Bob director Kevin Smith and more. I chatted with Len about how the project is going and how he got to know some of the coolest geeks in the world. We started with the big question: how did Len go about getting all these notable geeks on board with his project? Everything comes back to Coulton. I drew visual responses to Coulton’s “Thing A Week” music project (where Coulton recorded a new piece of music for 52 weeks straight). During that process, I was introduced to Paul and Storm and they hired me to develop the art for their CD News to Us . Since then, we have become very good friends. One of the reasons I thought I had a fighting chance is because I had a pretty good base from which to start. I knew Coulton and Veronica Belmont and the MST3K guys, but after that I was sort of relying on my contacts to help create the ripple effect. Okay, that makes sense, but 52 people?! That’s a boatload of geeks! I had to ask Len how many he’s already lined up. Ha! I just did an assessment a few days ago. As it stands, I’m about midway through. I’ve got about 26 or so confirmed and I’m trying to keep slots open for some really big names. There are a lot of geeks to choose from and I expect there will be omissions, but that’s the beauty of it. How can I collect those elusive George Lucases or Steve Jobses? Steve’s been answering his email lately, so I told Len I thought he might have a shot at getting Apple’s head geek involved. I wrote to Steve. No answer yet. Maybe I’m in the “to do” pile. However, Len told me who we can expect to see in upcoming trading cards and podcasts in the meantime. People who you can expect to see coming up in the deck are Wil Wheaton, Grant Imahara (Great freaking interview with him. He actually said it was the Geekiest conversation he’s had in quite some time.) I’m also trying to grab geeks from all walks of geekdom, so you can expect some D&D geeks, some science geeks and hopefully more videogaming and music geeks. The people involved in this project are all fantastic, but the challenge itself is interesting too. Does Len have to do both the card and the interview before he can consider a week completed? Yes, in my crazy rules for this I had to interview them, which was my way of “collecting” them. The card is sort of the proof of that. It has to be more than just “yes, draw me!” That’s too easy. There has to be some meat to the challenge. Anyone can draw the people I’m drawing, but connecting with them is a totally different thing. So, Steve Jobs and George Lucas, if you’re reading this: connect with Len and get behind this awesome project. I want to see you on Geek a Week! And everyone else, head on over and give Geek a Week and Len Peralta’s other work a look. Share link:// Geek a Week link:// Len Peralta Continue reading
