Rick Santorum Slams Muslims For Being Violent During his speech on Friday at the Values Voter Summit, former Senator and Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum claimed that “the West” was in an “existential fight” against the forces of “radical Islam.” Via Raw Story reports: Unlike fellow Values Voter Summit speaker Michele Bachmann (R) — who urged President Barack Obama to go to war with all of Islam — Santorum limited his criticism to those Muslims who were rightly hesitant about modernity. Still, he noted, there is “a fundamental foundational problem in Islam of embracing issues of freedom of conscience and religious persecution.” “Christendom [once] expanded by the sword, that doesn’t happen anymore,” he continued, but “you don’t have any Baptist ministers going on jihad.” “The Western world,” Santorum said, “has come to terms with religious liberty, freedom of conscience, and that persuasion is the way to spread the faith.” But the president and those who believe that not all Muslims are fundamentalists were not Santorum’s only targets. He also called out Kentucky Senator Rand Paul (R) in all but name, saying. that “clearly, there are people out there who are trying to advocate for us to take a more limited view of what our role should be internationally, both from the standpoint of our engagement in foreign policy as well as our military strength.” However, he added, “there is a difference between limited government and small government. I believe in limited government. I believe in small government in some areas but I don’t believe in small government in every area. CBS has renewed its summer reality TV staple Big Brother for two more seasons, ensuring that the show will be on through the early fall of 2016. In all seriousness, the current season – which ended last night with the Big Brother 16 winner crowned in a 90-minute finale – was a bona fide hit. Derrick Levasseur’s win capped off a summer that saw the show actually grow in the 18-49 demographic, averaging 7.56 million fans and a 2.7 share. CBS’ executive vice president of alternative programming gushed that Big Brother continues to be the one of summer’s most dominant programs. With each season, Allison [Grodner] and Rich [Meehan] produce the most twisted ways to evolve the series creatively,” said Chris Castallo. “With its one-of-a-kind format, coupled with its passionate, socially engaged fan base, no other show has even come close to duplicating it.” The companion series Big Brother After Dark , which will air on TVGN’s rebranded network Pop, has also been renewed for the next two seasons. Fix tells ABC that the nuptials took place on the farm of a family friend, a locale that often has a herd of wild deer roaming all about. These animals are apparently accustomed to being fed at the same time every night and head there naturally on their own… so when they showed up during the reception dinner, photographer Ian Christmann pulled the couple away. “They were really jittery and then at one moment they all just looked up,” Christmann said of capturing the above snapshot. “They had a really funny expression on their faces.” This is definitely a winner. Ferguson Police Officers Show Solidarity With Darren Wilson With tensions rising once again in Ferguson since the defacement of Mike Brown’s memorial , protests got more lively once again yesterday evening — with reports of break-ins and looting hitting the media. As police officers used their force to reign in the crowds, some were seen wearing bracelets emblazoned with the phrase “I Am Darren Wilson,” showing their support for the officer who gunned down Mike Brown . The bracelets were spotted and photographed by protesters and originally posted to MediaBlackOutUSA . And as for twitter speculation that the photo in question was doctored in some way, Captain Ron Johnson confirmed that police were indeed wearing these bands on their arms in THIS VIDEO . However he thinks it was the decision of a few individuals, and not precinct-wide. At least we know where these cops’ heads are at while they’re out there “maintaining peace” in the Ferguson streets.
