Some black students at Harvard say they often feel their voices go unheard on campus. They’re taking a stand in the photo campaign “I, Too, Am Harvard.”It highlights the diverse experience that black students encounter at the Ivy League school. Rubin “Hurricane” Carter, a legendary boxer who spent 19 years in prison on a wrongful murder conviction, died this morning at home in Toronto. He was 76 years old. According to friend John Artis, Carter passed away from prostate cancer, a disease for which he was being treated for an unknown period of time. In 1966, Carter was convicted charges of fatally shooting two men and a woman in a Paterson, New Jersey restaurants. It took nearly two decades, but both jury verdicts were eventually overturned on different grounds of prosecutorial misconduct. Prior to his legal battles and imprisonment, Carter was known as a fearsome fighter. He narrowly lost a fight for the middleweight championship in 1964. Carter rose to national acclaim during his lengthy battle to clear his name, with Amnesty International describing him as a “prisoner of conscience” at one point. Bob Dylan also penned a hit track title “Hurricane” that championed his innocence and vilified the cops and became a Top 40 hit in 1976. In 1999, Denzel Washington portrayed Carter on the big screen in a movie also titled Hurricane . After his release, Carter moved to Toronto, where he served as the executive director of the Association in Defence of the Wrongly Convicted from 1993 to 2005. Bryan Singer is firing back at sexual assault accuser Michael Egan, saying he was not even in the same state during the period he allegedly raped him. Bryan Singer Accused of Sexual Abuse Michael Egan claims in a new lawsuit that the X-Men director anally raped him and forced hard drugs on him during two separate trips to Hawaii in 1999. Singer will reportedly file credit card bills and various other documents proving he was in Toronto during the time frame in question, shooting the first X-Men . The 31-year-old man accusing Bryan Singer of sexual assault claims he didn’t remember the incident until recently, which Singer also says should clear him. Egan filed a lawsuit over a series of L.A. pool parties alleging sexual abuse against three other men in 2000, with a clear memory of what they alleged did. Singer was not named in that lawsuit, despite Egan’s claim that at one of these parties, Singer forced Egan to perform oral sex on him when he was just 15. He’s very graphic, comparing himself to a piece of meat and saying that Singer held his head underwater and forced him to orally copulate the director. Michael Egan, Bryan Singer Accuser In the 2000 lawsuit, however, he accuses Marc Collins-Rector, who owned the party house, and two other men. Singer was NOT named or even referenced . Egan ended up getting a default judgment of more than $2 million, but Collins-Rector and the others left the country so Egan was paid virtually nothing. Not unlike Wade Robson’s molestation accusation against Michael Jackson, Egan now said he blocked the incident out and numbed himself with alcohol. Recently, he got sober and started therapy, which unleashed a flood of bad memories involving Singer. The director claims this is all totally bogus. Sources connected to Singer says it’s absurd that Egan remembered the party in such vivid detail as to three other men but repressed memories of Singer.

Ad account executive Rob Grant – who also happens to be the father of Lana Del Rey – has launched a bizarre Twitter offensive against Lorde, whom he clearly regards as a rival of Lana’s. When a friend tweeted to Grant that Lana’s forthcoming album is “addictive,” Rob replied, “More addictive than Pure Heroine,” referring to Lorde’s debut release. In all likelihood, Grant then dislocated his shoulder in an effort to pat himself on the back for his clever pun. Okay, so it’s a pretty mild insult, but it still seems strange that Grant feels it’s appropriate to tear down other artists in the name of building up his daughter. No stranger to feuds with other artists, Lana attacked Lady Gaga in a song that leaked online last summer. For his part, Grant has reportedly bankrolled Lana’s career and many stage name changes up to this point, so he may feel that disrespecting teenage girls on Twitter is a way of protecting his investment. The always classy Lorde has yet to respond to Grant’s comment but if she decides she needs an old guy to get her back in this fight, she can always call on her new friend George Brett .

The NBA player has had no realistic chance at a reconciliation all along, as far as we’re concerned, given his dalliances with crack and various hoes.
