Source: FOX / Getty Season 4 of Empire is winding down with Lucious possibly facing one of his most formidable foes. Tonight’s second to last episode of the season starts with Cookie meeting up with her mother (Alfre Woodard). They have a lot of healing to do. Meanwhile, Thirsty is instructing his goons on how to get rid of Shyne’s body. They have to cut it up and spread around the five boroughs for good measure. via GIPHY Later on, Andre informs Lucious that Anika has been convincing the board members to reject Eddie’s resignation and the board is listening. Thirsty brings up the fact that Eddie sticking around means he’ll push the Patel deal and steal Empire, duh! Then Andre says they should be safe as long as they have Shyne’s backing, but Lucious informs Dre that Shyne took a permanent vacation. Now Dre is like, wtf! Like the rest of us. via GIPHY Anyway, Dre is frustrated and tells Lucious that he set Shyne up to be loyal to the company. But Lucious disagrees because his philosophy is that street dudes need to be put to bed for good. But here’s the new problem, Shyne’s replacement will control the swing vote. They can’t make any moves with finding a replacement until Shyne is declared dead. Lucious asks Thirsty if there’s any way to “put Humpty Dumpty back together again.” You know what that means. You also know that Thirsty will delivers because now we’re sitting at an Empire memorial for Shyne. Nessa is singing and Lucious has the nerve to be sitting next to Shyne’s girlfriend giving condolences. They’re also across from several of his babymamas who all expect to be taken care of now that Shyne is gone. Lucious is on top if it for now, but there’s something that doesn’t feel right about this, meaning, you get the feeling that someone is going to find out that Lucious killed Shyne. At the very least, if they don’t get caught, Shyne’s absence is going to cost them Empire Records when it comes to the re-vote. Speaking of, Shyne’s girlfriend informs Lucious that Shyne always wanted Nessa to take his spot on the board if anything ever happened to him. Anika gets in Nessa’s head first. Nessa hates the Lyons so it’s easy. Andre broke her heart, Cookie smacked fire out of her, and Lucious pretty much ignored her. However, the aforementioned Lyons swallow at heir pride and apologize. Nessa is a tough sell, but eventually, she agrees to forgive them. Especially after Lucious offers to extend her contract for two more albums and give her a feature spot at the upcoming 20 for 20-anniversary showcase. Nessa asks Lucious if he knows who killed Shyne and Lucious lays it on thick about how he’s going to find out who did it and making them pay yatta yatta, we’ve seen this before with Freda Gatz. Anyway, it works and they get Nessa on their side. Anika and Eddie meet up because they’re screwed without Nessa so Eddie steps his evil mastermind game up. Digging up dirt on the Lyons won’t be effective because it’s common knowledge that they’re grimy. The next thing they can try to do to undermine Empire is find something on the artists, and they hit the jackpot. Cue the 20 For 20 showcase! There’s a moment when the screen gets hacked and an image of Blake (Shyne’s white rapper) as a kid sitting in front of a confederate flag and throwing up a Hitler salute. via GIPHY Becky and Hakeem confront Blake about it because they actually liked him. Blake admits that it’s him but that he’s not racist, and that his trash father made him pose for the picture. They give him the colonizer treatment and get him out of there vowing to deal with it later, but it’s too late. Tiana has a meltdown because word is out that Empire is affiliated with a racist artist and she doesn’t want to associate with Empire if that’s how they’re rolling. Then Eddie appears and offers to help. Lucious tries to get him to leave, but one of the board members asks him to stay. So Eddie then really really crosses the line by taking the mic like he runs things and announcing that he’s banning Blake from Empire and that he’s thankful that the board is granting him the power to make sure this never happens again. That’s when Lucious steps up on the stage and roughly grabs Eddie by the color. He wants to fight him at first but then Eddie whispers in his ear, “This is who you are, this is all you’ll ever be.” That’s enough to calm Lucious down and then Eddie eggs it on even more by slow clapping as Lucious walks away. Lucious has met his match and there’s only one episode left until the season ends. Hopefully, Lucious figures out how to pin Shyne’s murder on Eddie because things aren’t looking too good right now. About 10 months ago, Senator John McCain revealed his brain cancer diagnosis . It is grim news for the season politician’s loved ones and his many admirers. McCain reportedly has a final request that is turning heads. Whenever his funeral may be, he does not want Donald Trump to attend. John McCain doesn’t know how much longer his extraordinary life will last. Final requests are a tradition for those who know that their end may be near. Whenever reasonable, they should be respected. McCain’s final wish … is bound to ruffle some political favors. Friends and loved ones have been visiting him at his home in Arizona. Multiple outlets, including The New York Times , have reported that John McCain doesn’t want Trump at his funeral . Some have seen this as McCain disliking Trump so much that he doesn’t even want him around his remains. McCain has often voted along with Trump’s agenda. Though he tends to speak out when he disagrees with his party’s efforts and policies, he usually votes along party lines. But, dating back to before Trump dissed McCain’s military service saying that he prefers soldiers who weren’t captured, there has been no love lost between the two. So, is this request meant to be “McCain throwing shade” at Trump? It seems more likely that McCain is thinking of his family and other loved ones. His wife and daughters should not have to deal with the attention-grabbing maelstrom that is Trump, especially on such a solemn day. Especially since McCain has apparently asked that Mike Pence be sent in Trump’s stead. That, many feel, speaks more to a man hoping for an uneventful funeral than it does to a man sending a political middle finger. McCain has reportedly been receiving visitors. Longtime friends and loved ones have come to see him in recent months. Despite his prognosis — and things do look grim — visitors are apparently not telling him “goodbye” just yet. McCain is apparently not a fan of what he considers excessive sentimentality. Some of us may find that shocking, but McCain is a War Hero who survived years of captivity and torture. He’s tough. Besides, we think that it is safe to say that the “goodbye” is understood. McCain’s critics would like to remind people that he is not blameless in the current political crisis. In 2008, McCain’s team picked Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate, hoping to capitalize on her charismatic appeal to the Republican base in a way that would compete with then-Senator Obama’s “star power.” Palin, who quickly demonstrated that she was woefully unprepared to be President if needed and lacked a great deal of policy knowledge as well as what some consider to be basic information, changed the political landscape. She “went rogue” repeatedly during the McCain campaign. It is not difficult to see the easy parallels between Palin’s lack of preparation, impulsive statements that are contrary to fact, and galavanizing effect on the GOP base with Trump’s campaign. Many say that, had McCain made a wiser choice in 2008, the Trump Presidency would never have happened. Many have brought up McCain’s voting record. Satirical news source The Onion published a headline: “Lindsey Graham Vows To Uphold John McCain’s Legacy By Blindly Supporting GOP Agenda After Grumbling For A Few Minutes” Some consider that headline to be harsh. Others say that it’s a fair assessment. It’s arguably both. Whatever one thinks of McCain’s political career, voting history, or status as an alleged “maverick” in D.C. … this is a man who has led an extraordinary life of public service to the United States. His family and loved ones will miss him, as will countless colleagues. Even those who knew him from across the aisle. And we can all agree that most people would probably prefer that Trump not attend their funerals, either. Let’s hope that McCain outlives Trump’s political career. In certain circles, G-Eazy is known for many things. He’s a rapper; he’s the boyfriend of singer Halsey; and he’s got a Charlie Sheen-like reputation for raising hell and getting into trouble. The emcee – real name Gerald Gillum – suffered the consequences of his wild ways in Stockholm last week when he was arrested for assault and possession after getting into a fight with a nightclub bouncer. Gillum was taken into custody and held for 24 hours before being released on bail. Onlookers who witnessed the incident say that Gillum lunged at a fan who took his photo in the club’s VIP area. He reportedly missed his target and struck the club’s security detail by accident. Of course, the old “whoops, wrong guy!” excuse doesn’t really fly when you clock a bouncer in the head, so G-Eazy was arrested on the scene. And his situation quickly went from bad to worse when police discovered 1.5 grams of cocaine and a rolled up $100 dollar bill on the rapper’s person. It’s been several days since Gillum was released from prison several days ago, but until today he’s remained silent on the scandal. This morning, Gillum addressed his arrest on social media, and not surprisingly, it seems he’s contrite and deeply ashamed. “Embarrassed & apologetic beyond words about the incident, but above all I’m so f–king grateful they let me go, craziest experience of my life, awful night with a lot of bad luck and some even worse decisions,” he wrote on Instagram. “But like I said I’m grateful as f–k to be a free man, back on tour performing for the fans,” he added. “Thank you to everyone who’s held me down along the way and supported this journey,” Gillum continued. “I appreciate you more than you’ll ever know.” Gillum was forced to pay a $9,000 fine and about $850 in restitution to the victim of the assault, a Stockholm nightclub bouncer We’re sure he’s deeply embarrassed by the incident, but there’s a silver lining here: He’ll no longer be best-known in the press for trying to kiss Britney Spears and getting shot down at the VMAs! Now THAT was embarrassing! View Slideshow: 25 Celebrities Who Have Been to Rehab
