Life is pretty good for Derick Dillard these days. He and Jill Duggar are expecting their second child ; the couple is already planning a second international missionary trip, and Derick recently embarked on a career as an educator. But despite his current run of good luck, Derick’s life has not been without its share of grief, and the reality star took time out this week to honor a loss that he still mourns nearly a decade after it occurred: Derick’s father, Rick Dillard, passed away nine years ago yesterday, and Derick paid loving tribute by posting the following photo, along with a caption reading: “Nine years ago today I said goodbye to the greatest man I knew. The greatest, namely, because he taught me in word and deed about Jesus Christ. “He protected and served the public as a police officer, and he loved God and his family. His time came sooner than expected, but I know he would have loved being grandpa Dillard to little Israel too. “He is my dad, and I look forward to seeing him again on the other side of eternity. Rick W. Dillard (1957-2008).” Derick doesn’t frequently talk about the loss of his father, but he pays tribute to the man whenever the occasion arises. At Jill and Derick’s wedding back in 2014, “I’m so sorry for your loss. My father had been gone almost six years and I miss him every day,” one fan commented. “He was my world. We never get over it. Only used to it. God helps us understand.” Another follower observed a similarity between Risk Dillard and Derick’s young son, Israel Dillard, writing: “Your little man looks like your dad. Coming into 2017, the future wasn’t looking very bright for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Kanye was hospitalized following an emotional breakdown back in November, and far from running into his arms after he was released, Kim appeared to keep her distance. Weeks later, no one is denying that they were sleeping under different roofs for a time, but family insiders have offered the explanation that the Wests were just following doctor’s orders for the safety of their kids. Last week, however, a gradual Kimye reconciliation seemed to begin, as evidenced by the holiday photo that Kanye posted on Instagram. Was it a transparent attempt to send the message that the and Kim had patched things up? Of course! But according to sources close to the couple, they are actually making an attempt to rescue their relationship. Of course, it’s anyone’s guess as to whether or not those efforts are paying off. “Kanye and Kim are still in that very polite stage after a blowup,” a source tells People magazine. “They’re getting along better, but it’s still a difficult time. He’s committed to getting healthy.” As for what may have triggered the meltdown that nearly led to divorce, insiders say Kanye is struggling to cope with the 2007 death of his mother, Donda West. “Kanye still doesn’t have closure about his mother, and I don’t know that he ever will,” one source tells the magazine. “[Her death] was unexpected, and he had no time to prepare for it. “When the anniversary comes along, it’s like the wound is reopened. Prince Charles worked 139 days, the Earl of Wessex worked 118 days and the Duke of York worked 112 days, all of them trouncing Kate by a considerable margin. Other media outlets chose to report the royal workload in terms of the number of engagements undertaken by the members of the Windsor-Mountbatten clan, and those numbers tell a very similar story: Kate carried out 115 engagements, while he husband notched 204, and her brother-in-law tallied 166.
